Hull vs Chelsea (Prem) 02/02/10 1945 KO
A very complacent performance by us & our defending of set pieces is very worrying. Still Hull stuck to their guns/gameplan & were aided by the bounce/fall of the ball which seemed largely in their favour all game but our build up play was depressingly predictable & our energy levels generally seemed below par. Now our small buffer has gone & we'll have to be much sharper on the weekend if we want to hang onto the lead.

JT - more press digging
The only thing that interests me about all of this is whether this will be longer than the Aguero thread... One positive is that the blinkered Terry apologists/cultists on here may be more inclined in future to be somewhat more objective about the bloke in general: whether in respect to his pitch performances, transfer talk and the like & that the rest of us won't have to be assailed from time to time with petty allegations that we are disloyal in some way to Chels when discussing those topics as they relate to Terry. The other is that all of this can only make him more determined on the pitch which is ultimately what we all want of course. Oh and Ashley Cole must be pleased regarding the transfer of the boo baton to someone else.

Following our nearest and dearest rivals
As stated by Loz - Arsenal against quality defences & w/o a quality centre forward are going to struggle. Not much they could've done about Nani's goal but the 2nd & 3rd (especially the latter) were merely Manure counter-attacks profitably taken against defences horribly out of position. Gallas clearly had one of those goal & glory moments prior to the 3rd. What did he think he was doing advancing like that - and no one dropped back to cover him at all! Men against boys again - as someone has already mentioned, doubt we'll see a more reflective article from that self-confessed cheat & hyperbolist journalist extraordinaire, Mr Syed, any time soon.

Reactionary?!? How so?

Milan Derby
Great report Just - what excellent theatre that was! Pauly - I'd don't know how you can describe Milan as good. Apart from Goofy they sure looked pretty flat & tired to me. Inter played really well though & did deserve the 3rd. 2nd red was bloody harsh I thought.

Drogba on his way back
To be fair to Kalouless he only missed about three other chances against Algeria which is lower than his usual average. Looked a bit sooky when he was subbed though.

Preston vs Chelsea (FA Cup) 23/01/10 1245 KO
We've been very patient & they've obviously been drilled not to be drawn out - which they were & Nic scored. Good to see Paulo involved & shooting. Should be 1-1 though.

Anelka Praise

No need to teach old Drog new tricks
"Its not so much Didier going down its the manner he goes down" Smileysmiles, forgive my impertinence, but what the f**k does that mean exactly?!? Yours in incredibility

No need to teach old Drog new tricks
Honestly I don't know what the fuss is all about since, on average, I only find myself saying "Get up Drogba" about 4 or 5 times a game.

Chelsea vs Liverpool (Premiership - Home 04/10/09 1600 KO)
McNulty's article is notable amongst the british press for identifying filth's vulnerabilities in midfield post Alonso & he makes some succinct points concerning the "creative vacuum" between Lucas & Mascherano & the lovely line about Alonso getting better with every game! Aquilani to the rescue (whenever he rides into town) so, no doubt, hopes Benitez! Benitez had better win a cup this year to keep his little gold bars because he won't win the league. And I think he knows it. How else does one explain his rather ridiculous post match comments. Loving it.

The Diving Issue
I'm with you an indecent 100% on the diving issue Dorset & the challenge theory has much to commend it. Didn't wish to appear flippant - a bit transfixed by the Kakuta legalities though at present. As for the lawyer jokes - well there just aren't enough (good ones) going around for my liking...
-
The Diving Issue
So Dorset, to summarise: you support of the use of technology by refs. PS - should we expect a retraction from you in the future on the "decency" of lawyers in the event that Chels' lawyers win in the CAS?

Chelsea Banned From Signing Players
The DRC rules mandate that it has until 12.00 midnight today (being the 23rd) to provide its reasons for decision to Chels. It will be interesting to see whether FIFA elects to publish the reasons for decision on its website (like it did with the decision). The rules allow for those reasons for decision not to be published at large should the club concerned with/effected by the material decision put in a request to the DRC for same not to be published. I hope and trust that Chels made no such request and that the reasons for decision will be available for all to see. Given the sheer import of the decision, FIFA, imo, will have no alternative but to publish its reasons.

Way before Rory Delap.........
Who can get forget him. As nippers we used to copy his technique at throw-ins with, it must be said, less than spectaular/wild/embarrasing results & much to our coaches chagrin. My fave player as a kid.
