July 30, 201411 yr My Awkward Sexual Adventure 9/10 ...........A gem of a film , well worth a watch .
July 31, 201411 yr Planes: Fire and Rescue I took my kids to this and they loved it. Pixar does a great job with their movies.
August 3, 201411 yr Dawn of the planet of the apes. Fantastic film. My wife had said why don't you take the kids to see the film about the monkeys, or King Kong, whatever it's called!!!!! Expendables 3. Thought it was OK. didn't expect much more than gunshots and explosions and near misses. Which was probably just as well.
August 4, 201411 yr Edge of Tomorrow was pretty good, not sure if that's because of the plot or Emily Blunt. I suspect the latter. Edited August 4, 201411 yr by the special one
August 14, 201411 yr Guardians of the Galaxy. Absolute awesome sauce, loved it. Killer Joe. Massive pile of w**k.
August 14, 201411 yr I was hoping to go see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes at the weekend but I might have to make it Guardians of the Galaxy now. I saw the Alan Partridge film (Alpha Papa) a few days ago. Don't know why it took me so long, it was just as brilliant as I hoped it would be.
August 17, 201411 yr Saw Shame last night. As with 12 Years a Slave, I was underwhelmed. People seem to hold Steve McQueen in such high regard as a director, whereas I find all his films pretentious to the extreme. His habit for holding a shot for as long as possible is a method that isn't always effective. By the time Shame had finished I wondered what the point of it was. 4/10
August 17, 201411 yr Calvary - JM McDonagh Saw this the other night - immensely enjoyable & a worthy follow-up to The Guard. Casting is top notch & the script is uniformly excellent. Gleeson is again in top form & there is great riches in the support including Dylan Moran & M Emmet Walsh (in possibly his last film before he passed). Apparently it won some ecumenical film award which is heartening given the major premise of the film. Read an interview with McDonagh - he's now working on a corrupt duo of texan detectives treatment. Hopefully it'll be a bit different to the masterly US tv series True Detective. Anyway, he & his brother (In Bruges) are certainly some of the the best script writers going around & from Calvary's very first line of dialogue which takes place in the confessional it pulls no punches - "I first tasted cum when I was 7 years old". Highly recommended.

I saw the Alan Partridge film (Alpha Papa) a few days ago. Don't know why it took me so long, it was just as brilliant as I hoped it would be. I was a bit disappointed with Alpha Papa BD. Partridge just wasn't as crass as he was in the tv show. I wanted something similar to wearing a Castrol GTX jacket at a funeral and asking the widow if she had a battery for a Nokia phone ha ha
August 18, 201411 yr Guardians of the Galaxy. Absolute awesome sauce, loved it. Killer Joe. Massive pile of w**k. Guardians of the Galaxy gave me my first film credit! Nothing fancy, just a entry level VFX role. Very happy it's my first film I worked on as It was awesome! All down hill from there. Edited August 18, 201411 yr by Sheva

Don't think you can successfully transfer the Partridge factor of the TV series to the big screen.

I haven't seen any other films lately that have made me laugh as much.
August 19, 201411 yr Picked up Wolf of wall street on Blue Ray, mixed feelings about it tbh some very funny moments but it felt as if it dragged on a bit and could have been cut about an hour with the over the top sex and drug scenes. 7.5/10
August 20, 201411 yr Picked up Wolf of wall street on Blue Ray, mixed feelings about it tbh some very funny moments but it felt as if it dragged on a bit and could have been cut about an hour with the over the top sex and drug scenes. 7.5/10 It is about half an hour too long, but I still enjoyed it very much. Saw Inbetweeners 2. Very, very funny, but perhaps not as good as the first film. 7/10
August 30, 201411 yr Guardians of the Galaxy - my son loved it (as did I). Was very entertaining, and well worth a watch with the kids.
September 8, 201411 yr The BBC production of Shakespeare's Comedy Of Errors, with Roger Daltrey no less, as Dromio. How I got round to watching Shakespeare at all is a bit of a long story (so I'll spare you the details). Suffice it to say that I was seriously amazed at how much I enjoyed the play Here's a short clip featuring Roger Daltrey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WzCpHdaRwo
September 8, 201411 yr Locke with tom hardy. Not sure what to make of it really...it`s just him in a car all film.
September 9, 201411 yr Itching to see this - it's meant to be excellent. It's a good film, very original and the actor who plays Locke is brilliant. You'll also learn a lot about pouring concrete, which is much more interesting than you'd think.
