As much as i hate Gerrard the papers should leave it until the WC is over, this is the wrong time to publish a story about the Captain. Im not English and i think the Media have ruined the teams confidence and they have put so much pressure on them. Just look at Green, any other country would of backed their keeper. The english media called for his head and a change.

Agree with Sheva on this one, absolutely diabolical timing by the press if they do release this now! Timing is horrible for any England fan. I just wonder how the press will react to it (other than the NOTW), and if they will react with the same vitriol that Terry received?

I also doubt that Capello would strip Gerrard of the captaincy (as much as we'd all love that) right in the middle of the tournament

Even if this does come out during the World cup i can't see Capello stripping gerrard of the captaincy. I know it shows a lack of consistency in his ruling but the distraction that that would cause during the torunament would be to big, not to mention what it will do to gerrards form, as much as i hate to say it he is a very important part of this england set up.

If the backlash against the Mail had been greater, I could see them holding on to it. But it was so underwhelming for what it was. Ergo, I can see the NOTW breaking this as soon as they get the go ahead. Since he took out a super injunction, they may be looking to nail him as much as they can.

I hope this isnt going to kill England's chances, but it might work in the opposite way. It could hand Capello an opportunity to say to the players "f**k the press, focus on the football and lets rub the Jules Rimet in their faces"

If Gerrard gets off for this, I would be aghast considering what they put JT through, but not shocked of course. But between the Kris Commons rumors, the rumors of leaving, and the fact that his lawyers needed a gag order, there must be something to this story.
