well its my view - take your rose spectacles off then read this.....................he was poor in the world cup, he spoke out and had to backtrack, so usurped the captain

in the matches he was pretty well all over the place against germany - fact is he is much better when captain, he was pulled of position, not quick enough and looked exposed whenever they attacked - no wonder he loved makka & loves essi so much

hope I am wrong but his bubble may have burst...........hope we have some cover

Terry is still very good at what he does. At the WC he had to play beside people he rarely plays with, that is no good when playing centre half.

Terry a couple of years back looked amazing because he had the best on form partner about in Carvalho. This year he will have Alex and they will be brilliant together, I have no doubt about that.

His bubble has not burst, just wait til you see him week in week out with a regular defensive partner, he will be back to his best.

Ivanovic is there if all goes tits up.

Apples and Oranges my friend.

First of all JT @ CHelsea has much better defencive partners(goalies included) than he did with England.

Second JT @ Chelsea has a much better defencive coverage from the midfield infront of him than he does with England.

Third JT @ Chelsea has, apparently, a manager much better @ tactics than he did with England.....I would say this was a huge part of why JT looked so poor @ the WC..... even great players can play poorly when stuck in an uneffective system.

and fourth, maybe the least relevant factor, @ Chelsea JT actually have fans who support him instead of those who try to destroy his confidence.

Anyways, if we think this WC is applicable to next season then really dont have much to worry about....after all the only decent EPL strikers in the WC were Drogba and Tevez!

he said what we were all thinking fair play to him, played out of position in germany game to accomidate upson, is world class is mr chelsea hope he retires from international football because he has been treated like sh*t anyone who douts him is idotic look at his record games played and lost both club and country is awsome and very rarely has a bad game.....LEGEND IN MY BOOK ALWAYS WILL BE...........

He may have played very poorly against Germany but against Slovenia he was an absolute rock. Not to mention that in the group games there was only one goal conceded and that was compliments of robert green. Besides the Germany match (i know it is the defining part of englands tournament) he actually played very well.

Long season-card can't be pulled here... I honestly think JT should have refused to join the team after the scandal and let Wayne play no matter if Bridge hadn't fit in the starting XI or not. I know it would have been the hardest decision to make but something a man would have done. His performances were not that good as he was the leading man in the back and couldn't organize the line properly. But you can't blame him for England not being able to score.

In my eyes he dented his shiny armor by the scandal. I know the girl must be a s*ut of some kind but still.. I'm glad it didn't affect Chelsea don't give a rat's a*se about team England TBH.

He will be good next season for us I'm sure because that is most important.

JT has slowed quite a bit but he is still a great defender if partnered correctly.

He will be fine

As somebody else already said i dont think this world cup is the ideal platform on which to judge players, how much would you pay for Rooney or Torres based on thier WC performances??

Both Terry and Lampard are different in Chelsea blue, perhaps all those tossers who boo them at Wembley then wonder why they struggle to reproduce their club form in an England shirt might have a rethink........then again.

Was he that bad or are you just believing the hype. Against the US they barely had a shot at goal, and the one they did was because of the current captain. Against Algeria he again didnt really do anything wrong, and against slovenia was clearly man of the match. All this whilst having to play with 3 different defensive partners and 2 different (dodgy) keepers. He was sh*te in the Germany game, as was everyone else other than possibly Lampard but I still think theres something gone on we dont know about. The press conference was a ridiculous hatchet job on him by the written media, pretty much everyone interviewed after it on BBC and Sky agreed with everything he said and thught he had done well. Yet the next day hes public enemy number one again.

Was John Terry (the man) negatively impacted by the lead up to the World Cup, his play and actions at the tournament. Absolutely.

Does this effect him as a Chelsea player and captain? I'm not particularly concerned.

Posted

he'll be fine.

what you saw at the world cup was more a or less an entire squad choking under the pressure. hugely depressing, but it won't hurt chelsea.

Posted

I am worried about him getting more injuries in the coming years, but I am not worried about what we saw in South Africa somehow changing his play for Chelsea.

I think its funny people here are still after this "JT usurped the captian, tried to lead a revolt" nonsense, when the gutter press themselves only came to that conclusion a couple of days after the press conference, and after Fabio aired his own dirty laundry.

I don't believe in the 'JT power grab' stories. That's just paper-fuelled bullsh*t.

I also don't care how badly he plays for England as long as he doesn't do it for Chelsea. Him and Upson didn't even cover each other in the Germany game. A real manager like Ancelotti wouldn't let any centre backs get away with that.

so quick to jump on the jt loseing it band wagon lets b straight here the world cup wasnt ideal situation for him

but englands terry is a diffrent animal to our terry who dominates the chelsea back line

terry was never the fastest deff but has great postional sense and the heart of a lion thats all he ever had or needed

so stop rideing the tabloid headlines and wait and see our john in the blue doing wot he does

i hope he retires from the england squad it was shocking his treatment id take him for us

Posted

I hate all this talk of 'he should retire from England' - for me that belongs to gutless fools like Scholes, Carragher and Kris Boyd. JT should do what Lamps, Beckham and Ashley Cole did and hold his head up despite the abuse from the morons in the stand and carry on playing on for his country.

I wasnt replaying the tabloid stuff as I don't read em, fact is he was interviewed on tv and made statements he later backtracked on

Yes he has been top man in blue for seasons but last year not his best was it (remember everton away)...............and yes there were reasons for that loss of form but hope chelsea fans honest enuf to see the bad stuff too

this year he will be key again as still part of the big4 axis that runs through the spine - petr, jt, lamps & drogs.............

last point, after the wigan game and PL trophy stuff he made a point to give his boots to some fans - girl in front of me got a pair and I can still see her grin and tears - hope he can keep out of the press other than for footie reasons

he prob had 3 bad games not bad in 60 odd games is that not good enough for you?? also that vanessa bird has denied the affair but it has fallen on deaf ears, it was never proven never seen any photos to back up the press so untill i do i for one will not believe the tablod bullsh*t..

I would normally agree, but if the rumours about JT being stitched up by some of Capello`s backroom staff are true then he should retire and say exactly why.

I totally agree with Loz here. There are fighters and then are quitters and I'd rather have a fighter as Chelsea's captain rather than someone who hides when things get tough. The best way to stick it to 'em is to play so well that people can't ignore you. If you give up, you're just giving ammunition to those who are against you.

Terry loves playing for his country, always has and probably always will. Why should he allow some backroom gimp to take that away from him. If he feels strongly about talking about it then he should do so whilst still keeping himself available for selection. If Capello then decides not to select him then that is his choice but Terry can hold his head up high and know he never turned his back on his country.

Fair point, I just think it will be difficult for him to turn up and play for these people if they have stabbed him in the back. Though as you say, if anyone can do it its JT I suppose.

the kind of talk i despise is that which calls for JT, Frank, and Ashley Cole to retire (voluntary or otherwise) from international football "so that England can start bringing a few youngsters through" but which celebrates Steven Gerrard's decision to stay on as England captain. this kind of drivel is usually preceded by "I'm not being anti-Chelsea here, but... "

Whoa...whoa...back up. Since when was Gerrard the England Captain?
