That must be 1973, no? The league cup semi in 72 was vs Spurs.

You are correct, this is from the League Cup 72/73, but the game was played in December of 1972 so that's why the date.

I was talking to an old lad the other day, came out that he was a blue's supporter and the first game his dad took him to was the Dynamo game, most of what's happened since must seem a bit disappointing!

My Grandad was at that game.....he told me the only time he saw the ball was when it was in the air. Lol

I've just found a great YouTube channel for old Chelsea footage. It may well belong to one of you here...the user name is CPV 4CFC (I'm writing this on a tablet and I'm not sure how to share the link, sorry).

It includes season reviews, some of which I have never seen. 1986/87 for example. Some of it pretty grainy and strangely, a couple of games were filmed from the East Stand, so facing the West and Shed End (including 1-0 vs Arsenal, Cllin West goal).

I remember the away leg. we were losing and going out of the cup with 20 mins to go. I was listening on the radio and was delirious when the game was abandoned due to fog. Didn't make much difference as we lost the rearranged game, not sure the next time we got to a semi but think it was probably the Sunderland game?

Everything about going to Liverpool in those days was cu ntish, the supporters, police, laid on bus journey, the walk back to Lime Street with the cowardly f**kers on the other side of the roads.  No wonder they good mullered in the cup games at the Bridge.

Thanks so much for that link. I've never seen any of those late 80's / early 90s season reviews, so it's amazing to finally be able to waste many hours reliving games I've long since forgotten about. There's hours of footage I've never seen before, I think.

From that YouTube account above. Skip forward to about 1hr 55m. Chelsea fans singing YNWA. Commentator: "almost as good as the Spion Kop at Liverpool". Even then the commentators were blowing smoke up the Scousers' arses.

Good isn't it? There's quite a bit I'd never seen and I thought I'd seen pretty much everything out there. A season review of 84/85 and 85/86 would be nice but I don't think they exist.

On another note, although many of our crowds were poor from that era, how bad were the opposition's away followings? The North Stand was sparsely populated for nearly every club. 87/88 Man United at Chelsea and their away following wasn't great at all with loads of space...but when Chelsea played up at OT in the cup, our end was absolutely rammed.
