Reserved seat E,W& N Stands 12,200. Unreserved bench seats West Stand 3,300. Terrace Accomodation standing 41,500 . Standing Enclosure East Stand 3000.

Shed held more than the North Terrace, but not sure by how much. Would adjust guesstimate to about 22,000. The Kop I think held 26,000.

When I started going 77/78 we had the old terrace barriers for the last year. When they were done 78/79 the Shed was around 12,500 the North stand held 11,700 the West Stand 4,000 seats 4,000 benches East Stand 11,000 Giving us 43,200 capacity. With segregation taken into account down the North stand, we only sold out Dippers 78+ 82 fa cup.   79 + 82 against spuds.

Beating Man Utd 2-1 away in 1985-86

Highlights.

Went up there with my brother in his battered VW Passat.

Remember just before full time a small mob of Chelsea getting in the Stretford End when the gates opened.

Caused a bit of panick then got run out.

Good old C O S C card. Remember needing these for away travel and “all ticket “ games. Also I think you needed one to get on the benches eventually.

The best Ten Men Went to Mow sang there IMO, the whole terrace took part, it certainly provoked the United fans.

Yes. I remember coming into the away end as they had just begun that chant. We really needed that win at the time as we were on a terrible run. I'm sure the great support from our fans that day played a big part.

That is keeper Steve Sherwood on the right I think. He went on to play for Watford. No idea who that is on the left though.

Sherwood played for Watford in the 1984 FA Cup Final v Everton.

Derek Richardson, who used to also support and watch the matches from the Tea Bar area.

Thanks for clearing that up. Looks he never played for the first team otherwise I assume he would have been our first black player.

Derek Richardson, apologies if somebody's already beaten me to it.
