Indeed but if you look at that picture everyone has the same hairstyle and you can imagine dressed exactly the same the fans as well. This was pre Bill Haley, Elvis and The Beatles there wasn't any youth culture to speak of. You can sort of understand the older generation stiff handshake after a goal being outraged with the way 70's footballers behaved. 😆

I don’t any of these! I never did a first team game. This was done within the club, I thought they were juniors below the apprentices. I only did football combination games during all the school holidays 1979-83.

2:15pm K O 50p wages! and a can of coke at H/F. Great way to get autographs and see your hero’s so close.

The era I did games was great for seeing first team players. Either players needing minutes or coming back from injury were played in these games. One of the games we beat Bristol Rovers 4-0 Clive Walker scoring a hatrick.

Our family used to holiday at Pontins during the 70s, and mostly through knocking around in the amusement arcade you'd get to know other kids from across the country.

I got pally with someone from Plymouth, who told me that Chelsea came a cropper trying to take their end. Load of bollox I naturally thought, unaware that Plymouth was/is a pretty rough place. Like any naval/ garrison town the local herberts scrap with squaddies every weekend etc.

Talking of Pontins probably in the early 70s, a kid from East London told me that at Upton Park, on a certain bit of terrace dockers used to congregate, and they used to sing ' DOCKERS.. clap clap clap ' DOCKERS'

Seems a bit unlikely but who am I to know..

A lot of trouble that day especially in and around the park. Plymouth is, was quite a tough town.

A mate of mine who's West Ham told me Man United used to swamp away grounds not trouble as such but they had such numbers they could do what they wanted they were given the Shed one year apparently think it was 66 not sure. But West Ham were getting fed up of it so in 1972 loads of dockers turned up and United got a good hiding it's on YouTube so many numbers in the Southbank people had to go on the pitch.

My mate lived there in the mid 90's he was knocking off some bird he lasted 3 months said it was mental. 😆
