February 2, 201313 yr Can't find any pictures but was at this game for which only 300-400 Chelsea fans made the trip; http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2003/dec/10/match.sport2 We were in a perspex enclosed barrier on the lower terrace surrounded by riot police and 50,000 turks on the other side. The abduls were charging the barriers and throwing anything they could lay their hands on. Right at the end I got hit on the nut by a full plastic bottle thrown from an upper tier. Split me head open and claret everywhere. As I was being taped up in the concourse below Lovejoy sauntered over and said "don't worry mate, we'll get 'em outside!". Didn't fancy the odds on that one myself. Was then taken out in an ambulance with the turks kicking the sh*t out of the sides as it made its way out of the stadium. Forgot to mention this was also the game Roman's security guards got him to leave the ground early. Edited February 2, 201313 yr by just
February 3, 201313 yr Some cracking Zola pics. I particularly like the shot of him squaring up with Gazza, whom I cannot stand!

February 3, 201313 yr Some cracking Zola pics. I particularly like the shot of him squaring up with Gazza, whom I cannot stand! Great photos there mate.I remember meeting ruddy in a hotel when he became manager. I wished him all the best and he said he would give all he could to the blues :)
February 4, 201313 yr A forgotten Cup Final. 17th April 1944: The captains of Chelsea (Harris, left) and Charlton Athletic (Welsh) shake hands before the start of the Football League (South) CupFinal match at Wembley Stadium

February 6, 201313 yr The other half of the shot that TD posted: I presume that the away end is populated by mancs?
February 6, 201313 yr great pics Used to love the sight of the three floodlights as my train came over the river towards victoria station.
February 8, 201313 yr The other half of the shot that TD posted: I presume that the away end is populated by mancs? A great view from the away end of SB,but looking at the picture,a couple of things don't quite look right. Firstly, that floodlight pylon on the right seams to have jumped off it's concrete mounting on the terrace & landed onto the running track!. The away end looks pretty full as does the Shed plus the West stand, yet the East stand looks strangly empty?. A great picture, but it looks kind of odd at the same time.
February 8, 201313 yr It looks as if the players are out on the pitch doing their pre-match routine, so I presume that the ground would still be filling up. (The East stand in particular of course, posh seats and all that! ) The pylon is clearly different to the old behemoths and only has one bank of lights as opposed to two, I assume it's the temporary one put up whilst the away terrace was getting re-developed? I spotted these two pieces of art on the Christies website, very nostalgic. It's odd to see Frank sporting this particular number, even if it is only a training top. It clearly can't have been one of Franco's spares! Edited February 8, 201313 yr by Lofty 1905
February 8, 201313 yr I like the old paintings, the top one must be against QPR going by the lack of away support.
February 8, 201313 yr I remember that bike in the megastore along with a car and scooter. 97/98 seasoni think
February 9, 201313 yr That was the queue that was. Chelsea fans outside Stamford Briege queuing for tickets for the 1970 FA Cup Final replay.
