To be fair under Hurst in his first season we just missed out on promotion finishing 4th, days after their cup final win if West Ham had won at Sunderland we'd have gone up but the ice cream firm mugs lost 2.0 hence us missing out.

Old Kojak hated Hurst with a passion.  I'd never seen him so angry during that goal less period, all he would go on about is how Hurst was West Ham, should never be our manger, how he was West Ham, how he was a c**t, how he was West Ham, the man's a c**t, West Ham through and through, etc, etc.  And we thought Benitez was bad, this bloke lived it years ago.

Dear old Kojak, remember standing with him in the Shed at the 1st game of the 1979-80 season v Sunderland (0-0). He was wearing his blue dungarees without a shirt, and his upper arms were bigger than my thighs!!.

Main discussion that day was the 1st away game at Upton Park on the Mon night. Meeting place was the Green Man (i think) pub in Bethnal Green.

Your right the meet was in that pub at 5 30 (No all day opening)funny old night to have a game (pre sky) went straight from work suited and booted no time to change never got to the game big tear up outside the queens after getting off the the tube there was some roadworks there the signs ended up being used. I stood out like a sore thumb in my browm 3 piece the old bill shouted get the lad in the brown suit. Ended up in East Ham nick instead of West Ham Ground

Hurst was bad but Blanchflower was even worse followed closely by Porterfield.

I remember spitting feathers when each was named as manager of Chelsea.

i'm loving this forum,as a kid growing up in the fens chelsea were my club since 1969,altho i never saw my first game til 1976,forest at home, remember it like it was yesterday, was never a fighter but have always been fascinated by it,got mixed up in it a few times, late 70's early 80's i was quite regular, when we were really sh*t,6,000 at home and losing to the likes of shrewsbury, but we always had good away followings, loved the away days, places like oldham, rotherham, notts county, cambridge, luton, watford, great support and we normally lost but i kinda liked it better then,it felt real,i dont get that feeling so much these days, used to stand on the shed and think nothing else matters,no one can hurt me here,as a kid home games were a big adventure into the city,i'm 52 now and still get a buzz, more so away from home, but love reading all the threads and seeing the old pics, keep em coming fellas,KTBFFH

Spot on aligee couldn't of put it better myself. I was more 1980's but still the same feelings, loads away, 8000 at home. Muppets always say to me wait till roman f**ks off I just laugh and say couldn't give a sh*t I'll always be a Chelsea fan regardless and if we have less plastics turning up, so the better, carefree!
