April 16, 201412 yr Looking at the Ipswich town scarf on the left hand side it looks like they had just taken fate 13 !!
April 16, 201412 yr That bloke on the right with the big collar, it's like punk never happened. Bet him and the guy next to him struggled to pull a bird, until the lights went out!
April 16, 201412 yr quite agree. Look at some of the attendances in the Championship now, we took half that to away games. No real records back then. With people on turnstiles pocketing money by keeping foot on the pedal, accurate att never known. Look at home games late 70s early 80s certain games looked like more in the ground than stated. My dad worked on the turnstiles at Chelsea, Arsenal and Twickenham Rugby ground and he had loads of stories of other operators getting people to double up to go through and even one guy who would unscrew the turnstile to let people through! My dad was too straight to do this (he wouldn't even let people through as juniors if they were smoking !) but knew of loads of scams.

April 27, 201412 yr Fat Sam's finest moment, and the only time I ever left a match early. In fairness to myself, it wasn't my idea, but those couple of girls we were supposed to meet never turned up, which just goes to prove that Karma realluy is a bitch: 14 Oct 1978: Chelsea 4 Bolton Wanderers 3. Sam Allardyce of Bolton has just scored Chelsea's last minute winner with an own goal in a remarkable 4-3 comeback
April 27, 201412 yr Fat Sam's finest moment, and the only time I ever left a match early. In fairness to myself, it wasn't my idea, but those couple of girls we were supposed to meet never turned up, which just goes to prove that Karma realluy is a bitch: A few of us got slug out of the Shed when Bolton scored their second, gave a false name and ended up watching the rest of the first half from the block of flats staircase opposite the main gates. We went into the North Stand second half and saw the great fightback.
April 30, 201412 yr Supposed to be the Shed v Liverpool in 1982. I could be wrong but is that not the late 70's FA cup match?
May 10, 201412 yr Best Holte turnout I remember from our lot was in 79, turned out to be our last top flight game for over 5 years and what looked to be no more than 40-50 Chelsea scattered the whole end.Brings back memories, I was 14 at the time.

May 20, 201412 yr great pic i had it but lost it when i moved to oz yes i am in the pic a very young 20 year old with my indian mate he had a tough time going to the bridge in the early 80's but still turned up each game There can't have been many Indian supporters back in those days. I do remember one Indian bloke though, got on ok with him. There was one time he went wth me down to the Black Bull before the match on a Saturday afternoon. Outside the pub was a very well known Chelsea supporter from South East London who I'd known for years. "Alright." he said to me, "not so bad", I replied. But then glancing at the Indian bloke, he said: "What the f**k's he doing here?" Attempting to keep the peace, I told him "He's alright, he's with us", and asked the Indian bloke what he wanted to drink, to which he replied: "No it's ok, I've got to shoot off anyway." And off he went. Truth is I can't remember whether I stayed at the Black Bull or whether I shot off myself, but either way no more was ever said about the incident. That would have been during either the late '70s or early '80s, so it could well have been your mate. Ask him next time you see if. If it's the same bloke, and if he remembers the Black Bull incident, say hello to him from me.
May 21, 201412 yr Author did you take that photo in Munich, mate? Was that walking back after the match? Nah mate I didn't take it & not sure where its from, I got it sent to me by a mate who found it on google I think? I put it on here as it shows our old CFC badge & is something a bit different with the Ulster flag.

May 22, 201412 yr Chelsea vs. Man City August 21st 1971, the first time I ever went to Stamford Brdge. Sitting in the West Stand with my unclle the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Next time I went was the game against Coventry a couple of weeks later, whch finished 3-3. THat time I was in the Shed., and I loved it. The atmosphere, the singing, before and during the game, the crowd surge - wonderful days, I was already well and truly hooked.. Edited May 22, 201412 yr by Tommy Docherty
