Now this is something I didn't know if the replay at Old Trafford was a draw the second replay would have been at Highfield Rd.

That's an interesting choice of venue. I always thought Coventry's ground was a bit on the small side. If memory serves, wasn't it the first all-seater in England?

I think a cup tie between Arsenal and the dippers was played at Coventry after 3 replays

Happened to Leicester too in 1969. City beat them at Wembley. Frank O'Farrell was Leicester's manager at the time.

Never knew that. Cheers🍺

It was Jimmy Hill did a lot for football he got the maximum wage abolished as well. It held about 35,000 then so no big corporate ponces the fans would have got about 17,000 each I think which for a second replay would have been about right. City when they played Spurs in the 81 replay only bought just over half that they brought on the Saturday. As I was typing this I looked on Wikipedia and Jimmy Hill did a lot more than I thought.

Hill had a reputation as a moderniser and all-round innovator in football: as well as helping to get rid of the players' maximum wage, he commissioned the first English all-seater stadium at Highfield Road, lifted a ban on media interviews, introduced the first electronic scoreboard in 1964, the first colour matchday programme and in 1965 Coventry were the first club to show a live match via CCTV on four giant screens.[24] He has been credited with the introduction of the three points for a win system, pioneered by The Football Association in 1981.[25] He was also credited with the idea of using a panel of football pundits for the 1970 World Cup.[25]

We had three semi-finals against Leeds in 1965 and again in 1970. The third replay was held at the City Ground in 65 and Burnden Park in 1970. Bremner scored the winner in both games.

He used to get up peoples' noses though with his sanctimonious twaddle. One time, after a Manchester derby, he accused George Best of deliberately injuring Glynn Pardoe, who suffered a broken leg. In the studio, Hill goaded Malcolm Allison trying to get him to say that the foul was deliberate, but Allison, to his credit, would not take the bait.

LOL. I remember one game at Hampden which England won 1-0. The panel in the box was Hill, Allison (again) and someone else. You could see the pitch through the large window behind them. Some Scottish supporters clocked them and all you could see was beer cans hitting the plate glass and the pundits flinching.

And they were the friendly ones...😀
