Has anyone played AC Oddessey? If so, what’s it like? Reviews seem ok. I couldn’t get into Origins and traded it in a few after. The combat system was well re-designed but I found the storyline and side missions boring.

It’s the same as the last one.

Can somebody put me in a coma or freeze me until October the 26th?

I play a lot of games but I don't get genuinely excited to play a particularly often. Red Dead is definitely one of those games, I can see myself easily putting in 200+ hours on it.

Everything they've shown about it so far looks great, every time RockStar releases a new game they raise the bar for what open world games can do.

If you didn't like Origins then Odyssey is probably not going to be for you either. I watched a few reviews on it and it's basically the same again but they've made the game even more of grind to level up because they've introduce microtransaction booster packs to speed up the leveling process.

I picked up Origins earlier in the year put quite a few hours into it but never really got into it. It was just so repetitive. The combat was bland and I thought the world map was just too big... It's fine having a big map but you have to make it interesting and varied.

Good, because apparently the campaign alone will take about that long to complete!

I can't wait. It looks incredible. My mate who works at Rockstar said he has been working on it for 4 years. It's an emotional moment when a game you've poured your sweat and blood into as a programmer comes out, apparently....

Can you ask him when they’re going to stop with the milking the cash cow of GTA V online and get on with 6 :good2:

Work on GTA VI has already started. But sshhh, you didn't hear that from me. But it won't be out for ages yet, Red Dead 2 is their focus at the moment, obvs. We're going to the Bruges beer festival together in February, I'll try and get some more info from him then, once he's had a few pints of 8% beer!

Been a while since I was this excited about gaming, and 2 in a month have came along in Forza horizon 4 and RDR2. Though I did struggle to carry on playing RDR1 for the same reason as the GTA games, I get bored of the open world "go here, fetch this to here" after a while, I gave up on RDR1 pretty much after getting to Mexico.

I don't want the game to end, I'm going to make sure I do everything, I'll easily be putting the same amount of time in it as you're planning on.

I've managed to book the weekend off work and I'm off Uni on Friday, so I am one lucky man, but even in those 3 days I doubt I'll even get one 1/4 of the stuff done, and I'll be happy. The main story itself is longer than the Witcher 3 and the Witcher 3 is the longest campaign I've ever played.

Wow really?? You're not a fan of sandbox?

What about the Elder Scrolls games and Fallouts? I love open world games with multidimensional content, main quests, side quests, side activities, freedom, they always hook me in. Although there are some games that take the piss, usually Ubisoft games (Assassins Creed, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Watch Dogs) and Dragon Age Inquisition were guilty of this, build huge open worlds and it's purely quantity over quality, just tonnes of fetch quests with no good substance, reward or consequence for that action. That stuff really annoys me, but I thoroughly enjoyed GTA V & RDR1, I thought both games had great content, particularly RDR1 which was way ahead of its time like all Rockstar games are.

I am sort of going through open-world fatigue. When I was playing AC Origins I was like 'you know what, f**k this, I want something more linear next time' .

Yet I then bought Skyrim for Switch and now Red Dead 2 is coming....

I won't even bother buying any games from Ubisoft particularly AC, Ubisoft only knows how to make their games look pretty before launch and after that they're terrible, it's just an empty world.

People highly rated Origins, I pirated it and I thought it was average, just an open empty world. Far Cry 5 the same, it was just repetitive, all the story arcs were linear as hell, get caught 3 times by each villain, kill each villain, make sure you take over at least 5 bases on each map, then kill main villain.

Ubisoft really don't know how to make sandbox RPG's, they're very bad at it, they're good at making pretty worlds (Wildlands was gorgeous) but other than that they're rubbish. Fallout 4 I have huge criticisms on but at least that's a sandbox that'll give you a lot of gameplay and not just fetch quest after fetch quest in a huge open barren land. Witcher 3 really set the mark and I think RDII will set another mark.

While I agree with everything you’ve said about Ubisoft I still love the Far Cry series, mainly doing it coop with a few mates. It’s a good laugh and the DLC for it was actually quite good for once!

It's a good shooter, good action and very fun, I enjoyed it but it got boring after completing one of the story arks, because you realise how repetitive and tedious it is.

Although I haven't played co-op or with their DLC's.

I am a fan to a point, I just usually get bored of doing the same thing over and over and over. and I find the GTA games and RDR1 much worse than the likes of Skyrim, Fallout etc for it.

Im playing the sh*t out of Ninja Gaiden 2 on master Ninja difficulty......not the crap PS3 version, the real deal XB360 one, with all the gore, blood and decapitations......severing lots of limbs too. Just an awesome game with superb replay value......mastering the weapons takes time but man its worth it......

The ninja gaiden games are bloody brilliant, but so f**king hard and frustrating. Ninja gaiden black in 4k us fantastic though, looks so amazing.

One of the best series for me......1 and 2 that is......NG3 was so and so. Very very hard games, master Ninja difficulty will show you how good a gamer you really are, but man you gonna die lots and lots. NG2 is a true showpiece how a hack and slash game should be made......

You're right, although with GTA and RDR1 (which were pretty barren) they're mostly just action games rather than RPG's, you don't really get side quests besides the strangers and freaks missions which are like 2 hours of game time overall.

They just do these huge maps for the action scenes and to have fun while you're fighting in it, I remember running around Los Santos and causing trouble, sometimes there is nothing better when you're bored.

San Andreas did a lot of things better than its other games, it had more too it than just the main story, you went out to secure gang territory in your own time, you could get a girlfriend, go on dates, rob houses, a sh*t load of side activities, you could get fat, get muscle, build up certain skills and learn a fighting style, soooo many mini games. I think RDR2 is going to build on that massively with their hunting system and all sorts of other mechanics that'll make it a more survival build (you have to eat & sleep), that'll keep the game more interesting and force you to think tactfully, so you can't just wander around the map aimlessly anymore, that'll force the player to make the most out of things. I think there's a huge reason why these survival games are getting so popular lately, I'm glad Rockstar are realising this.

I have played more than 100 hours of Odyssey, and this post could not have been any more of a lie.

1. It is not a grind at all, is is so easy to get XP.

2. They have included microtransactions, but there is absolutely no need to spend a cent in the store. As someone who has spent more than 100 hours in the game, i have never been in the store.

My personal opinion on odyssey, is it is the greatest AC game ever
