Yes, it's a good game but I feel people are going a bit over the top about it. I'm hoping online will be better but I still think the slowness will play a part again. Galloping over the map on a nag doesn't quite have the same speed to it as a Hydra or a modified T20, so I'm guessing this could get annoying. I find myself playing for a little while then getting bored and putting Black Ops 4 back in. I'm the opposite. I like the travelling as you encounter countless little random scenarios on the way to missions etc which side track you in a good way. I much prefer it than GTA and I always have since RRD. I suppose if travelling is an issue there is the speed map unlock which transports you to certain areas instantly. I find it extremely hard to get into games these days and it's been a good few years since a game has drew me in quite like this,. It's a masterpiece in my eyes.

He challenged me to a shooting exercise, aiming at jars along a cliff wall. We wagered $5 as to who could shoot more, and I beat him. He upped the stakes and said let's play again, this time for $10. I accepted, but little did I know the next challenge was to shoot as many birds out of the sky as possible. I failed miserably. He demanded the money I owed him but instead I pulled out my repeater and blasted him to kingdom come. Looted his corpse. Stay south of the border next time, friend, you burrito-chomping shyster. Then he shot at me, I killed him and robbed him. I met him early on when I wasn’t used to the controls and accidentally pulled my gun on him, he fired on me and I killed him anyway. Glad that a) I didn’t waste my time and b) he comes back I’m loving being an asshole in this game, normally I go for the good guy routine in things because the rewards are better. Not here!
November 1, 20187 yr I don't want to sound uppity but f**k it I'm going to anyway, but I think this game separates the casuals from the gamers. I've seen a few times on this thread and on YT comments that people turned it off to play Call Of Duty and that's just the thing, if Call Of Duty is more your type of game you aren't going to like this. This game is forcing you to invest a lot of time into it, it's not something you can really spend an hour or two on per night to get a joyful experience out of. Personally, I'm very thankful that this game has come out as single player games are of a dying breed, I love RPG's, especially games you can really immerse yourself into. Because I think the gaming market today is just dumbed down online games where you go out on a map and just kill each other, a lot of casual gamers who like to turn on their console after work for a bit enjoy that. The online game market is absolutely saturated and almost every game company is crying out for Fortnite copies, EA are desperately trying to mimic that and now this new Black Ops, and I don't even want to get into Fallout 76 and a total U-turn Bethesda took on that after #SavePlayer1 campaign. I think if you love single player games with good storytelling and cinematics you'll love this game, if you're more of a Call of Duty player or into online games you probably won't, because the game starts off very very slow and requires you to have a lot of interest in it. For example, the Journals give you a lot of information and backstory that the game doesn't feed you, and if you're not really into storytelling games I doubt you'll read the Journals. Although don't get me wrong, I don't think RDRII is the best game ever, I'm actually pretty disappointed with it after Chapter 5 (kinda rushed through the story), but other than that I think it's the best thing to come out since The Witcher 3.

It keeps an old man very happy, and off the streets.

There was only one cod comment in the topic and that was me. I'm far from a casual and I didn't say I didn't like it. The mechanics are slow compared to other games. I'm spending more time trying to stagger through camp like I've sh*t myself and whistling and waiting for a day for the horse to get to me. I agree, the story takes patience, but for me, the movement within the game, takes just as much.
November 1, 20187 yr My only regret is...after finishing Spider-Man, I delved into my Steam library....a magical wilderness of games I don't remember buying, but seemingly did at some point during one of the many sales. I picked one. Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. I heard it was good. I'd played AC1 and AC2 already. So I started.....and once again, I'm sucked into the process of finding every damn collectible the game has to offer. It's taking too damn long haha. I can't stop now, or I'll never come back to it. One day...one day Red Dead, I will get back to you.

Black Flag is a smashing AC game- mainly because it has nothing to do with AC and you're just a pirate, boarding ships, fighting and swashbuckling, hopping from Nassau to Kingston, coves to islands. Enjoy!

But I do agree with you on the movement, I actually like being in the camp but it's pretty tedious. Again sorry to sound uppity, (that apology only counts towards you not RIP Mourinho because you're an Admin) I've just seen in personal experience that people who like to play online shooters won't necessarily like Red Dead, and everyone is buying this game, even people who don't play these types of games because the hype is that big. So there is bound to be people who can't see the appeal or it takes them a long time to get into it. I've seen complaints about this being too much of a movie and long horse riding scenes but I love every time I'm on a horse with someone on a big journey, I don't think a Mass Effect game would be up your street if that's how you feel. I also think it starts slow (it ain't an issue with me) but I think the game should've started in New Austin, just before the Blackwater incident. Starting after that was a big mistake IMO, we could've got much better character development and an instant impactful storyline, rather than just starting in the Grizzlies where a lot of people won't understand why they're even there and what happened.

November 1, 20187 yr Hoping you guys can help me. I got a rifle on Red Dead with the scope on it. I have previously used to scop but when I try to use it now, it doesn’t come use the scope where you look through it, just the normal shooting view. I can see the scope on the gun but it doesn’t use it. Any ideas on how I can use the scope? Previously I had just pressed L2 and it worked. I’ve tried removing the scope and re-adding - nothing seems to be working. Any ideas?

Then potentially press R3 again for dead eye but I’ve not done that, release L2 to exit the scope.

I agree, casuals that can't handle the fast pace of online shooters and real people to play against will enjoy the easy ride of RDR2. Elite gamers that enjoy a challenge and not just shooting a couple of AI's will opt for something like Call Of Duty to actually offer them a challenge.

The problem with online games for me is having to rely on having a good internet connection. Getting booted out of games, 'elastic-banding', waiting rooms, it's all stuff I don't have time for. Not to mention the age of the twats who play games such as COD etc. #SavePlayer1

November 2, 20187 yr ^ @RIP Mourinho hahaha I don't think so. Back to Red Dead, check out this sad story about a guy losing his horse. I'm terrified it will happen to me at one point in-game. I love my horse.
