October 27, 20187 yr Had an hour on it last night, which turned into 5 hours ha ha. Its superb, really immersive once you get past all the different button combinations etc.
October 28, 20187 yr Spent last night doing some side missions and getting used to the game as I never playing the first one. One thing I’m finding hard is getting a clean shot on animals. When I come to sell them, they are in poor condition. Any tips?
October 28, 20187 yr I think need head/neck shots which I found hard with the bow but I’ve managed a few. It’s probably one of those games where your stats improve/you unlock a perk to make it easier. This game could probably use its own thread Edited October 28, 20187 yr by Munkworth
October 28, 20187 yr I played Red Dead Redemption when I just started dating my now wife. the contrast of playing time between that and now with being married and having two young kids is frightening! 10pm to about 1am is my gaming time if I am lucky! I want to sink the hours into this so bad

Try pressing square just before you shoot them with the bow (to 'call' them so they stick their heads up) before shooting them. I'm really liking it so far. Lots to remember, different button combinations etc but I am liking it. There was this great mission in the first town you get to- Valentine- where it's basically a piss-up, you get really drunk with a companion in the local saloon and it leads to some interesting escapades. A hoot! The mission is called 'A Quiet Time'. @ForeverCarefree How are you finding it? You are the harshest critic. Edited October 29, 20187 yr by Blueblur

The world feels very alive, rather than NPCs being there for your convenience it feels like everything is a part of this big world and you're just one part of it rather than being the centre of it. So much detail in the game. If anyone hasn't read Arthur's journal entries yet (hold left on the D-pad) I recommend it because there's so much detail gone into such a tiny thing. Mini games like poker are fun and you can spend way too long playing stuff like that. I like that if you're over or under dressed it affects your stats, that's a cool inclusion that gets you thinking about the smallest details of the game and I like that outfits aren't just purely cosmetic. I like all of the hunting, finishing, scavenging. Having to set up a camp to sleep and recover your cores, cook foods and create tonics etc. Biggest criticism is probably how long it takes to transverse between objectives. I'm on chapter 3 and all of my way points are really far away from each other so you can spend a good few minutes riding to get there, do what needs to be done, then you'll need to cross the whole map to get to the next objective. Oh and losing your hat constantly is annoying! On 28/10/2018 at 07:35, JM7 said: One thing I’m finding hard is getting a clean shot on animals. When I come to sell them, they are in poor condition. Any tips? You have to ensure the animal you are hunting in the first place is in good condition. Some animals being too old, too young, underfeed etc. aren't in great condition so no matter how clean the kill the quality of meat and pelts won't be perfect. You can hold R1 when looking at the animal through a scope/binoculars/aiming at it and if you've previously studied that type of animal it'll come up with information about the particular animal you're hunting and the quality of it. The depth of the mechanics in the game has really surprised me. Wouldn't surprise me if they bring out a survival mode update at some point where you need to hunt etc. to stay alive.

My main gripe is the travel too- having to ride really big distances across the map to get objectives. But I love the first person mode, especially when riding on my trusty steed- I have named her Tornado, in honour of that fantastic film Mask of Zorro- the detail you pick up in first person mode is astounding. From the blades of grass at your feet, to the way you attach your animal kills to your horse. I'm loving the poker, used to play it for hours in the last game!
October 29, 20187 yr The travel thing there is really no getting around since it's set in the 1800/1900's. No quick taxi method like GTA or riding a super modded car, plane but it's a big part of the games charm for me. Doing the long journeys across the huge map give you countless scenarios where you uncover something or someone that leads you into a totally different thing. The randomness and unpredictability of the game is nothing short of fantastic. My only gripe is I don't have enough hours in the day when I get home from work to spend on it. I wish this was out 10 years back when I was in a position to sit and spend hours on a console.

You open up fast travel by upgrading the camp apparently. I've called my horse Benny cake, based on a character in father Ted.
October 29, 20187 yr Got spotted fighting someone, chase the witness and hogtied him. Got spotted hogtieng him, chased the witness and hogtied him. Got spotted hogtieng him, chased the witness and hogtied him........... Got spotted hogtieng him, chased the witness and hogtied him. I now have a little pile of hogtied witnesses
October 30, 20187 yr I was playing it last night and I was on route to somewhere and came across a guy who had been biten by a snake. I gave him some medicine, he said thanks and went on his way. Later on, I was walking through town and the same guy called me out, introduced me to his mate and then bought me a gun to say thank you. Such minor but incredible detail. It’s the little things that make the difference.

With my reward, I bought a top of the range rifle and with a medium scope. Perfect for hunting. Must admit, I was annoyed that I never got a reward initially and almost shot him. Glad I never now.
October 30, 20187 yr If you follow me on Twitter you'll have already read this story but... Met a Mexican by the side of the road. He challenged me to a shooting exercise, aiming at jars along a cliff wall. We wagered $5 as to who could shoot more, and I beat him. He upped the stakes and said let's play again, this time for $10. I accepted, but little did I know the next challenge was to shoot as many birds out of the sky as possible. I failed miserably. He demanded the money I owed him but instead I pulled out my repeater and blasted him to kingdom come. Looted his corpse. Stay south of the border next time, friend, you burrito-chomping shyster. Love.This.Game. Edited October 30, 20187 yr by Blueblur

Then when I was in the hills to the north of Strawberry he was there and we resumed the challenge. He made a comment about how badly our last encounter ended. Knowing that the second part of the shooting challenge was shooting birds out the sky this time I drank a dead eye elixir first and then easily picked off the four birds before claiming my $20. Mexican fella wasn't as much of a sore loser as me and didn't shoot me dead and rob my corpse... He's a better man than me (but not a better shot).
October 30, 20187 yr Hello fellas, I've just walked outside for the first time in 5 days, how did we get on against Burnley?
October 31, 20187 yr I'm about 25% in on RDR2 and still finding it incredibly slow. It seems it's only me as I keep reading just how amazing it is. Yes, it's a good game but I feel people are going a bit over the top about it. I'm hoping online will be better but I still think the slowness will play a part again. Galloping over the map on a nag doesn't quite have the same speed to it as a Hydra or a modified T20, so I'm guessing this could get annoying. I find myself playing for a little while then getting bored and putting Black Ops 4 back in.
