Not a particularly reliable source, it all remains to be seen. It will be quite the cop out if after chasing Modric all summer AVB suggests we don't need signings.

That appears to be the only source, a unreliable one at that.

Some of the comments below the article just about sums up the sort of regular readership they attract.

Most seem to be deluded spuds spouting there usual sh*t.

Including at least one case of a severely retarded deluded Tottenham fan spouting the same old semi-coherent drivel.

Pitiful.

I think we sell yuri and bring in a winger/midfielder by the end of this window. I guess we have to wait until next year for the bigger changes (anelka out etc).

I liked the one where some idiot says that Chelsea and Arsenal will be left behind because they haven't strengthened like City, Liverpool, Utd and Spurs.

His reasoning for Spurs inclusion in the teams to leave us and Arsenal behind seems to be the imminent signings of Diarra and Adebayor!! Adebayor?! Adebayor couldn't strengthen a..... cup of tea, or something.

I think you're wrong about Adebayor. Up front was probably what cost them the champions league spot last season and Adebayor is a good striker. He could be the final piece in the puzzle for them to regularly qualify for the Champions League- assuming they keep Modric of course.

Naah, he'll play three good games and then go nuts after scoring against Arsenal or City and start causing a load of bother.

I'd rather take a 'live' Tv interview as fact. In a recent one on sky he said 'We are short in Midfield' we were before Michael Essien was injured.

So any lack of transfer activity will be down to Gourlay and co.

Seems odd, and you have to wonder where he got the quote considering he didn't expand on it any more than a paragraph (this is fairly big news if true), and he managed to spell Villas-Boas' name wrong in the opening line.

Perhaps he has such faith in the club's bargaining capabilities that he considers all current transfer dealings effectively 'in the bag' and means that we won't be signing anyone beyond those potential signings already in progress.

:P remember me this will happen if we wont buy

7. "DONADONI SAID WE NEED A MIDFIELDER? WHY DOESN'T HE BUY ONE?"

During the summer of 2009, De Laurentiis conducted a brilliant campaign in the transfer market. However, Roberto Donadoni said he wanted a left-sided midfielder via the media and it did not go well with his boss.

"Donadoni said we need a left midfielder? Why doesn't he buy one then? If he buys him then that will be good." Five months later Donadoni was no longer the coach.

Not to miss the point if the debate, but there is no way city are going to sell adebayor to a team they are neck and neck with. Unless they see spurs as absolutely no threat, or they have some mega deal worked out for bale or something.

Personally I dont believe AVB but keeping coy never hurt anyone

Just a thought,if city can't get nasri, they might do the unthinkable to us and barter Adebayor for modric...ouch hurt even thinking that one..

there are so many players that could be special players for us in midfield why arent we going after hamsik or sneijder?, if we were ready to throw money at pastore? pjanic or hazard for the some speed and creativety on the wings and if we were after a foil for torres id like to see us take a punt on steven jovetic, he hads a bad injury but has looked awesome in the past and is back fit again now. Obviously no one knows who we will sign by the end of the month, if any, it wouldnt be the first time a new manager came in and didnt have the luxury of bringing in some of his own players. I just think there are so many players out there that would be exciting signings but we seem to chase the players that are more than problematic to aquire.

I think valim is saying there was a similar situation with Donadoni and his boss that we have now IF avb doesn't activate in the market. He could go on and try to prove he can win with Carlo's squad and end up being sacked. Toung on the cheek of course.

I don't think we are done with buying and don't think avb ever said that we dont need anyone. If we have laid bids on Modric and Pastore that is a clear sign we need a creative midfielder. I don't think Gourlay and Roman would go on and lay bids on anyone AVB doesn't 'need'.

courtois 8mil?

mata23.5mil

piazon8mil?

lukaku18mil?

tore?

raijkovic2mil?

sala?

borini 0?

zhirkov13mil

mancienne1.75mil?

i know this makes me look ill informed about it all,but the media has a big part to play in it.feel free to correct if prices are incorrect, thanks
