Ah shucks!

It's most likely a load of tosh but I like the thought of him coming back for a few seasons, even if he can be a bit of a sicknote!

Would love him back. Even if we only got 15-20 games out of him in a season, it's better than those 15-20 games with Kalou or Malouda playing.

I would love to see him back. I doubt it would ever happen. I wonder that his injury record has been like since he join Munich.

Yes lets bring a player who refused to play with a knock when Jose needed him, he is much better to have than two players who run their socks off for the team week in week out and never complain. Lets not forget Robben angled his move out of the club, its not like we forced him out. He's gone and there is a very good reason why he has been playing in germany and not a better league the last couple years

Although I do agree in some ways, and Robben defo did leave through his own choice and all that I think I just have fond memories of him due to the fact he was, when fit & on form, quite a phenominal footballer who would get you excited everytime he was one the ball. I remember one of his earlier games where everytime he touched the ball the there was a sense of such anticipation and excitement that run all through the crowd. If you asked me weather I would rather have Kalou + Malouda or Robben the answer would be Robben everytime.....

If I asked you Robben or Mata ?

If I asked you Robben or Mata ?

Not putting Mata down, but that isnt a fair comparison yet as Mata has only played one game. Robbens early games were sensational.

Anyway i do think Mata will go on to be absolute class

I was trying to draw a parallel between Robben's first few games and what we saw of Mata against Norwich. He surely looks exciting as hell, may not be as quick as Robben but surely has lot to his game.

If I asked you Robben or Mata ?

If I am being completely honest I have not watched enough 90 minute games of Mata to really make a fair assessment but what I will say is that what I have seen shows a great deal of promise and would make me think there is every chance he could bring the same sort of excitement that Robben brought when he was on the ball, something that Malouda & Kalou don't for me.

I don't want to sit on the fence though and as I am still buzzing about the Mata signing I will be completely honst and say I would not swap Mata for Robben. Robben was a joy to watch when on form but as pointed out above he had his flaws and left because he wanted to. Mata could potentially become more important and effective than Robben ever was and at 23 I am looking forward to seeing him develop and hopefully not piss off to Madrid when he gets bored....

A fully fit Robben is quite a lot better then a fully fit Mata at this point. If somebody asked if we should offer Bayern a straight swap for Robben I would instantly disagree though. Mata is much younger, has the potential to improve and one day get on Robben´s level and much more important is not made of glass (As far as I know). Also even though Robben is playing well for Bayern it seems like his character has taken a bit of an nose-dive.

Mata all the way even though I really LOVED Robben. He actually ways my favourite player while he was at Chelsea

They do their things in different ways, Mata is all about passing and moving, he can and does beat players, but he's more likely to pass and move and create chances through that. They'd be great in tandem... in fact, scary in tandem, but yeah, Robben is made of glass. I'd have him back in a heartbeat, but probably wouldn't for the money he'd cost.

Lets see how what we've got goes for this year, then in January if we're lacking stump up for Messi's release clause. It's only £225m, why not?

If we really want the new Robben, Hazard would be him.

No. Hazard is rather the new Malouda. Robben is great because of his pace, Hazard´s abilities are more about footballing skills then pace or athleticism

Robben is more direct and flashy, but Mata for me could be just as if not more effective. For a start his La Liga stats compare favourably with Robbens.

Some weird comparisons here. But anyway, the player who reminds me most of Robben is Adam Johnson. Too bad we missed out on him.

Robben was the most exciting player we've had since Zola and we've had no-one since that has come close. Mata may be that guy though and given that he has more overall game could be even better. I'd have Robben the footballer again without a doubt but, I'm not sure I could take the injuries/general cowardliness again.

To be fair he was quite young still, im sure he has grown up a bit.

Not really. Everytime I watch him it seems to me that his behaviour is going downhill. Might have something to do with him beeing a big fish in the Bundesliga though.
