For some reason or other, Andre has choosen to take a sabatical in Spain for the rest of the winter,& by some incredible turn of events, you find yourself the Chelsea manager for the rest of the season.

You've only just sat down for the first time in the managers office at Cobham when the phone rings.....

It's Roman calling from his mega yacht, moored in the Med drinking a cocktail while surrounded by scores of gorgeous women,(the shear hell of it makes you want to weep).

He demands to know the answers to the following questions & as you are 100% in charge,it's your job to come up with the answers.........

1.What will be your team to face QPR at the weekend?,what will be you're tactics, will you play Cahill & J.T. or Bertrand & give Cole a rest?,what's the formation.

2.Are you happy with how the team play in general, the formation & tactics, the set peices & so on,if not, what would you do in training to change it?.

3.What's you solution to the Torres question?.

4.You can have one new assistant to help you if you want, who will it be?.

5.He'll give you 20-30 mill for a new player/players,who do you want most?.

6.Is there anything else you want to do the job?.

7.A no bullsh*t answer to where we will finish in the Premier League,F.A. cup & (coughs) the Champions League.

Try not to cock this up as it's your only chance & failure is not an option, just look at where big Phil 'hackman' Scolari ended up!.

Success,& it's 'Blue is the Colour,' jack danels all round & all aboard his Med based loveboat!.

1.

Cech -- Bertrand -- Cahill -- Terry -- Ferreria -- Romeu -- Ramires -- Essien -- Mata -- Sturridge - Torres

Subs: Turnbull, Ivanovic, Luiz, Merieles, Lukaku, Conor Clifford, Lalkovic

2. Not at all. It's far too much of trying to force players into a system that isn't working, rather than adapting the system to suit the personnel. My training sessions would focus more on fast paced counter attacks, and how to go from winning the ball back to an attack with a good tempo, rather than focusing on needless passing sideways.

3. Try to help improve his self confidence and make sure he's banging them in in training. Plus try to ensure our new style of play plays to his strengths. If after all this he is still struggling in the summer, look at replacing him.

4. Gian Franco Zola or Ray Wilkins

5. Too early to say without viewing our scouts reports. But the focus would be on a winger. Someone who gets to the byline and delivers qualioty crosses, and also pops up with the odd goal here and there. Someone who is young and fast.

6. A pay rise from my current web developer salary

7. PL realistically no higher than 3rd. FA cup we can win. CL semi's if we're lucky and avoid the big boys.

1.What will be your team to face QPR at the weekend?,what will be you're tactics, will you play Cahill & J.T. or Bertrand & give Cole a rest?,what's the formation.

Cech

Ivanovic--Cahill--Terry--Bertrand

Romeu--Essien

Sturridge--Mata--Ramires

Torres

2.Are you happy with how the team play in general, the formation & tactics, the set peices & so on,if not, what would you do in training to change it?.

Defense is slowly coming around, but the attack needs to be quicker. No more walking the ball up the pitch and needing 12 lateral passes to advance 10 yards. Get it out wide to a charging Rambo or Sturridge, and have them, Torres, and Mata sprinting at the defense.

3.What's you solution to the Torres question?.

Keep playing him. I don't think he's permanently broken. A faster paced attack would do wonders for every offensive player we've got, not just him.

.You can have one new assistant to help you if you want, who will it be?.

Butch.

5.He'll give you 20-30 mill for a new player/players,who do you want most?.

I'll say Hazard, though really, any player with a good combination of speed, dribbling ability, and a little creativity would do.

6.Is there anything else you want to do the job?.

Another RB and a striker younger than Torres but more experienced than Lukaku would be nice.

7.A no bullsh*t answer to where we will finish in the Premier League,F.A. cup & (coughs) the Champions League.

The way we're constructed right now? 3rd or 4th in the league, and depending on our luck in the draws, quarters or semis in the FAC and CL.

I can't believe you missed the opportunity to name this thread: "You're the boas."

Honestly,hindsight is a wonderfull thing! .

My training sessions would focus more on fast paced counter attacks, and how to go from winning the ball back to an attack with a good tempo, rather than focusing on needless passing sideways.

Back to Mourinho it is, then! He should be available soon.

I really like the transfer war chest question. For 30m, I'd try and price out Azpilicueta, Hoillet, and Dempsey at that price. It probably wouldn't work due to Azpilicueta being needed for Marseille and Fulham not wanting to let Dempsey go for cheap, but those would be some picks of mine. I would also price out what Porto wanted for Moutinho, and if possible try to pair him with either Azpilicueta or Hoillet, but I'm guessing Moutinho is probably priced too high to buy him and anyone else.

1.What will be your team to face QPR at the weekend?,what will be you're tactics, will you play Cahill & J.T. or Bertrand & give Cole a rest?,what's the formation.

I'd like to change a few things from what we've seen lately. I'd give a rest to Cole, play Cahill and JT in the middle and Ivanovic at right back. I'd start Mata just behind Torres, supported by Malouda on the left and Sturridge on the right. Ramires and Romeu completing the midfield. Formation could be called a 4231 but Ramires would have license to bomb forward at every opportunity and Mata in a free role.

2.Are you happy with how the team play in general, the formation & tactics, the set peices & so on,if not, what would you do in training to change it?.

The team isnt mobile enough for me. Players dont get into spaces often enough. There is a distinct lack of movement off the ball. My prime focus in training would be off the ball movement. Everyone needs to be moving all the time. Give options to the player in possession. Torres to keep making runs behind the opposition defense and into the space between center backs and full backs whether the ball arrives or not. Also when the full backs have the ball in good position, they cross either on the near post or far post (decided prior to the game) and Torres (or whoever is in the box to attack the ball).

3.What's you solution to the Torres question?

He's playing ok...let him continue as we have no other option right now. That could change with question 5.

4.You can have one new assistant to help you if you want, who will it be?.

Clarkey. If you can get him out of that sh*thole. I'd still keep Robbie D.

5.He'll give you 20-30 mill for a new player/players,who do you want most?.

I'd spend all of it on one player...if we could get Hazard for that much. (or cash plus player exchange. Malouda? Kalou?)

We need at least one player to take the burden of creating chances off Mata's shoulders and my list (in the preference order) is:

Eden Hazard

Lucas Moura

Mario Goetze

Willian

Hoilett

Dempsey (short term. Not that creative but a great fighter and an awesome finisher)

6.Is there anything else you want to do the job?

Yes. Scarlett Johansson.

7.A no bullsh*t answer to where we will finish in the Premier League,F.A. cup & (coughs) the Champions League.

Top 4 in the league is a guarantee. If we get the players I want then anything is possible. A good run in the FA cup...semis or finals. At least last 8 in the CL.

Eden Hazard

Lucas Moura

Mario Goetze

Willian

Hoilett

Dempsey (short term. Not that creative but a great fighter and an awesome finisher)

I like your list, I think I'd throw Gotze on the top and then keep the rest in your order, but that's just me. I agree with what you said about Dempsey. He wouldn't start every game but his fight is what I like about him. It also helps that he's on fire right now. Hopefully if he stays at Fulham he can forge some great play with Ruiz, Dembele, Zamora, etc. and scalp some teams ahead of us.

1.What will be your team to face QPR at the weekend?

Cech

Ivan, Luiz, Cahill, Cole

Ramie, Essien, Lamps

Mata, Sturridge, Malouda.

I would make sure the team was set up better to defend, go back to the Jose days of everyone defends and a 1-0 will do.

2.Are you happy with how the team play in general, the formation & tactics, the set peices & so on,if not, what would you do in training to change it?. None of this high line business, make sure we are solid and hard to break down. Free up Lamps again so he can get forward and bang in the goals while Drogs is away.

3.What's you solution to the Torres question?. Simple, not play him.

4.You can have one new assistant to help you if you want, who will it be?. Steve Clarke

5.He'll give you 20-30 mill for a new player/players,who do you want most?. Tough one, a new striker for sure but not sure who. Maybe try for Ba or someone else.

6.Is there anything else you want to do the job?. A couple of million quid in my bank account.

7.A no bullsh*t answer to where we will finish in the Premier League,F.A. cup & (coughs) the Champions League.

3rd in the leauge, Win the FA cup and at least the semi finals of the CL.

1.Cech -- Bertrand -- Luiz -- Terry -- Ivanovich -- Romeu -- Ramires -- Essien -- Mata -- Sturridge - Torres

Subs: Turnbull, Lampard, Merieles, Lukaku, Cole, Lalkovic

2. One touch sessions in training. You have to move quicker and have a good touch. And I would instruct Torres to shoot on sight and instruct the keepers that they have to dive the other way when he does.

3. Larger goals and blindfold the keeper. Or perhaps blindfold Torres. Also a hypnotheraphy session to regress him to a former life.

4. Jose Mourinho.

5. Sergio Aguero.

6. Sole control of transfers and final say on all team matters with no interference from anyone within the club. Yes, that includes you Mr Abramovich.

7. 4th place this year but next season we will win the EPL. I am the Special One Mk II.

1.What will be your team to face QPR at the weekend?,what will be you're tactics, will you play Cahill & J.T. or Bertrand & give Cole a rest?,what's the formation.

I'll give Both Cahill and Bertrand a run and Romeu in the midfield along with Lampard and Ramires. I'll stick to the 4-3-3 that we have been playing for a while now.

2.Are you happy with how the team play in general, the formation & tactics, the set peices & so on,if not, what would you do in training to change it?.

I'll probably hand over all set pieces to Mata considering how Awful Lampard and others have been in the last few years.

3.What's you solution to the Torres question?.

I'd play him 90 mins every game till he starts banging them in and a clear instruction to the likes of Mata and Sturridge to play him in even if its a tough pass to make.

4.You can have one new assistant to help you if you want, who will it be?.

Has to be Steve Clarke considering the defensive woes that we have suffered this season. He'd probably take care of most of the issues giving me a headache.

5.He'll give you 20-30 mill for a new player/players,who do you want most?.

Will have to be Willian or Hazard, if none of that happens I'd look at the likes of Dempsey or De Bruyne..

6.Is there anything else you want to do the job?.

No

1. What will be your team to face QPR at the weekend?,what will be you're tactics, will you play Cahill & J.T. or Bertrand & give Cole a rest?,what's the formation.

I'm going with a bit of a change for QPR (and the future, might as well start now) so I'm changing the formation. Going with a 4-2-3-1 giving Lamps a go and Mata a rest. I'm also resting Cole but I want JT and Cahill to get their partnership off the ground. Torres stays in because I want him to get more time and hopefully more confidence.

-----------------Cech------------------

--Bossy--Cahill---JT---Bertrand--

--------Rambo------Essien---------

--Studge-----Lamps-----Malouda--

----------------Torres----------------

2. Are you happy with how the team play in general, the formation & tactics, the set peices & so on,if not, what would you do in training to change it?.

Happy with how the team play in general? Heck no. If I'm in charge, I've already lit a fire in some rears. With the ridiculous salaries the least I expect is 100% effort. If I'm not going to get that, you aren't going to be around long.

3. What's you solution to the Torres question?.

I'm playing Torres. I don't believe for one minute that he's lost it completely. I realize he's a step slower but the quality is still there. I have Sturridge and/or Lukaku waiting in the wings for the future but the next coming year or more is the Torres show. With that said, he best step it up...

4. You can have one new assistant to help you if you want, who will it be?.

Since we're in a fantasy world, if I could have one assistant... Give me Joachim Löw. The man is a tactical genius. If/When there's adjustments to be made, he's the one I want by my side barking strategy in my ear. I'm asking Roman to open the wallet at all costs. Granted I doubt he'd be an assistant but you asked who I wanted. He's the man.

5. He'll give you 20-30 mill for a new player/players,who do you want most?.

I think there are three glaring needs for the squad and midfield is not one of them. My strategy is to go to a 4-2-3-1 with being able to morph into a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 depending on the situation. With that said, I believe we need the following:

LW, RW, RB

Now I won't spend on RB because I know Ivan can do the job and that's where he's going to be. I also have faith in Bertrand on the LB side if Cole isn't up to par or needs a rest. So... Here's the two players I want.

1. Eden Hazard

2. Marco Reus

Playing Mata as my CAM (with Lamps as a possible CAM as well), this allows me to have Hazard as my LW and Reus as my RW. That's my starting three behind Torres. Torres is up front, and I have Sturridge that I can rotate as ST or RW as needed. I also have Mata that I could throw as LW or even use Malouda. The options are pretty tasty with allowing me to give some players rest. With Romeu/Mikel as DM, if needed, there's a plethora of formation options that I could go with. If Torres doesn't do his job, Studge and Lukaku are ready to take over.

The cost may be a tad over 30 mil, but I'm begging Roman to get these two done. And yes, I realized Reus just moved. Make it happen anyway boss. :laugh2:

6. Is there anything else you want to do the job?.

Backing from the owner that he's behind me 100% even if I have an epic fail. :good2:

7. A no bullsh*t answer to where we will finish in the Premier League,F.A. cup & (coughs) the Champions League.

Premier League - 4th place

FA Cup - Semis

Champions League - Out to Napoli

Napoli is pretty strong and if we don't get rid of our lethargic syndrome, we're not going to advance. We can do it, it's just a question of whether or not we will.

1.What will be your team to face QPR at the weekend?,what will be you're tactics, will you play Cahill & J.T. or Bertrand & give Cole a rest?,what's the formation.

Id play a 4-2-3-1 formation, giving luiz a trial at right back, cahill and terry at cbs and cole at lb, to see if it works, romeu and essien at cdm play Ramires lampard and mata, in behind sturidge, in the epl stay with the same formation but change a few players around depending on the the way the game goes. Would rather have mata in behind and a new winger though.

2.Are you happy with how the team play in general, the formation & tactics, the set peices & so on,if not, what would you do in training to change it?.

not happy how the team is playing at all, formation change to 4-2-3-1, have two players screening the defence allows full backs to really have a go up front as either one of the two can fill positions left vacant, also they can take turns going forward to add to the attack. give set pieces to Mata as he seems to hit the target with his, get everybody to play aroundtorres and give him till january to start scoring if not bringing a new striker.

3.What's you solution to the Torres question?.

play 4-2-3-1 have everyone play around him, making him last full 90 for about 5 games, if no goals play danny and he comes on for 20-25 mins if less than 10 by the next transfer window then he goes.

4.You can have one new assistant to help you if you want, who will it be?.

steve clarke, the man behind the special one, he is a great assitant and would sort out any defensive problems. Having him is like having two head coaches.

5.He'll give you 20-30 mill for a new player/players,who do you want most?.

If torres aint been scoring sell him, even if its 25 million, i would bring in defoe because, he works hard, good finishing, never complains and he is english. a good left side midfieder would be a target, hazard, willian players like this, if i could i would bring in andrew johnson from man city think he is very talented. A goal scoring winger is vital though. if i could bring someone back defiantly roben. But never understood selling joe cole.

6.Is there anything else you want to do the job?.

Try to make chelsea a solid team, who can be at the top for a very long time, join youth teams and full team together twice a week so they get a taste and can develop with some of the best in the world.

7.A no bullsh*t answer to where we will finish in the Premier League,F.A. cup & (coughs) the Champions League

id say fourth, pushing it saying third but anything can happen it is the epl after all. Fa cup final is the goal, champions league semis depending on the draw maybe even the final

I think I'd actually cry if we brought Defoe in.

1.What will be your team to face QPR at the weekend?,what will be you're tactics, will you play Cahill & J.T. or Bertrand & give Cole a rest?,what's the formation.

QPR is going to be a tough game for the players mentally there will be a lot of pressure on the side, so I would be resting Luiz because he seems prone to becoming over-excited and we need an air of calm at the back. JT is rarely affected by pressure, even when it's this intense, it even improves him on occasions. Cole needs a rest, so yeah, he'd be getting a week off for me. I'll find him a nice hairdresser (allegedly) and let him spent Sunday in bed with her, hoping that he doesn't get a groin strain.

I'd also play two holding players to help us win and keep the ball. The more possession we have, the more we can calm down the atmosphere and take the sting out of the game. People will complain about 5 yard passes, but it's what is best in this situation, at least to start with. The ability to bring Ramires on in the second half is not something to be underestimated. Meireles doesn't deserve a start after the last game, so I'd bring Mikel in again.

Cech

Ivan Cahill Terry Bertrand

Mikel Romeu

Sturridge----Mata----Malouda

Torres

2.Are you happy with how the team play in general, the formation & tactics, the set peices & so on,if not, what would you do in training to change it?.

In general we're heading in the right direction, we're just lacking a cutting edge in the final third and some better general play when looking to keep the ball. It must be noted that we looked very solid against Norwich because we kept the ball well. It was just a combination of bad luck, poor finishing and one more player that stopped us from getting the three points in my opinion.

The key to the greater threat in the final third in my opinion is not just a matter of getting someone better in. I think competition for Sturridge is something that may be needed, just to keep him pushing on and improving. That may well be De Bruyne, or someone else. I'd also like to move Mata centrally, so a slight change in formation is needed. The formation of choice can be seen above, with the exception that normally I'd play Ramires/Frank centrally instead of Mikel, possibly Meireles instead of Romeu depending on the opposition as well.

3.What's you solution to the Torres question?.

His confidence is fragile but he looks so very close to getting it back. It's a matter of keeping him in the side right now (we have no real option otherwise, anyway) and getting him to believe that he still is one of the best in the world. A story of Mouinho telling Lampard that he's the best in the world whilst Lampard was showering comes to mind...

4.You can have one new assistant to help you if you want, who will it be?.

I would like to keep Robbie, I think his experience in the Premier League is a great boost. If I can keep him AND bring in someone else, that would have to be Steve Clarke.

5.He'll give you 20-30 mill for a new player/players,who do you want most?.

In January, one big signing will get us where we need to be for this season. In the summer we may need a bit more. Right now the concern is attacking. This depends a lot on who is available, but my first choice would be a double swoop of Hazard and De Bruyne and letting Kalou or Malouda go to balance the budget. This will give us a really strong attacking threat with Hazard, Mata and Sturridge as our first choices behind Torres. De Bruyne and whoever we keep/can't find a buyer for out of Kalou and Malouda will act as cover for them along with Lampard as well offering the option of a change in formation and style if we need it.

If Hazard isn't available, I would be happy with Willian coming in right now. He too would offer us a good level of threat, although with a greater focus on pace.

6.Is there anything else you want to do the job?.

I think that with the January transfers, to complete the squad's overhaul some summer transfers will also be needed. A new right back looks to be a priority for me. I'd need to review the scouting reports, but Azpilicueta has been mentioned and sounds like the right kind of player. Todd Kane in the reserves, or Hutchinson given his return may also be options which wouldn't need transfers, so there are options there.

With the change in formation, we are covered in central midfield. Cover for Mata and on the wide areas is an issue though. Assuming Malouda, Kalou, Drogba and Bosingwa will have all left at this point, a signing to play on the wings or the central striker position may be something work looking at. Depending on how Lukaku performs for the rest of the season we may need an option up front. Sturridge may be able to offer cover there as well, though. It would be something to deal with at the time.

On top of that, I need time, time and patience to make the changes necessary to get the team back to the performances we once produced.

7.A no bullsh*t answer to where we will finish in the Premier League,F.A. cup & (coughs) the Champions League.

Fourth is guaranteed as far as I'm concerned. With the signings suggested we should be looking above us, not below us. I doubt we will be able to make up the points on Man City, but anything is possible.

The cups always depend on the draws we get. Look at Man City, effectively the final of the League Cup was last night due to the draw. Whoever won out of Man City and Liverpool has an easy opponent in the final. The same can happen in the FA Cup, so it's hard to say. We have a chance as always, though. The champions league is definitely beyond us for this year, just by the strength of Real and Barca. This is why we need to rebuild the squad.

1.What will be your team to face QPR at the weekend?,what will be you're tactics, will you play Cahill & J.T. or Bertrand & give Cole a rest?,what's the formation.

I would rest Petr Cech, David Luiz, Ashley Cole, Juan Mata and Ramires, with a mind to the Swansea game only three days afterwards. Cahill and Terry (and of course Ivanovic) are ideal for dealing with the physical and aerial threat of Heidur Helguson. While we are losing a lot of creativity with the omissions I have made, I have balanced it by including Ivanovic at right back in order to free Sturridge somewhat from his defensive responsibilities. I will encourage Bertrand to get forward and overlap with Malouda in order to overload Luke Young on the right. I would keep the bench strong in case we are struggling to score, and leave us the option to introduce Mata, Luiz, Kalou and the like late on.

----------------------------Turnbull

Ivanovic----------Cahill-----------Terry---------Bertrand

-----------------------------Romeu

------------------Meireles---------Lampard (depending on fitness)

--------Sturridge----------Torres----------Malouda

2.Are you happy with how the team play in general, the formation & tactics, the set peices & so on,if not, what would you do in training to change it?.

I feel our system is still in transition; while I could probably pencil in a strongest first XI out of the squad we have now, it certainly isn't close to a definitive first XI which I would be comfortable carrying into the next decade. There's a level of fluency missing in attack; I would encourage fluidity of movement (particularly using Mata) and use the versatility of our forwards to shift around and confuse the opposition defence. I would also beat one-touch passing into the players as if we are going to play possession football we really need to distribute the ball more effectively and calmly.

Similarly we are in a halfway house when it comes to pressing. While John Terry is still the best defender at the club (and that is to his credit, of course) we will never be able to effectively implement a high defensive line and thus will be less capable of pressing to the extent that we want in order to play the style of football you are looking for. As a result I would employ a 'medium bloc' and begin forming a strategy to (eventually) replace JT; I'd imagine his replacement in the back four would be Ivanovic and we would also need to start looking at our younger generation to see who (if any of them) are worthy of being JT's successor as captain. It is entirely possible that at some point in the near future of my managerial career neither Terry, Lampard or Drogba will be on the pitch at a certain point, and thus we need to identify a young leader-in-waiting, which is something I would judge after getting to know the players better on a personal level.

3.What's you solution to the Torres question?.

He can start until Drogba gets back. After that point the best performer (be it Drogba, Torres, Lukaku, Sturridge...) will start as centre forward. I would keep hold of Torres even if he doesn't have the spectacular run of form that we've all been anticipating this season, as without him we look a little short on options (as in we will be left with Drogba and Lukaku as our only options for CF - two very similar players) and even a crap Torres can help out in a counter-attacking plan B.

I would also initiate a hush-hush PR strategy in which we try and distract as much attention away from Torres as possible - unless he's getting plaudits for fantastic form and hatfuls of goals I want the media to forget he even plays for us. I might encourage one of our more PR-ravaged (and experienced) players like JT or Cole to pull another ultimately harmless although media-attracting stunt if that is what it requires.

4.You can have one new assistant to help you if you want, who will it be?.

Roberto Di Matteo will be just fine as long as he doesn't mind me pestering him for autographs and of course the occasional gay moment. I was a huge fan of his work at West Brom as they were playing some excellent football.

5.He'll give you 20-30 mill for a new player/players,who do you want most?.

For the love of God buy me a right-back. Ivanovic has been fantastic considering he was a shoehorned stop-gap but he is comparatively weak to other world-class full-backs in terms of going forward and Bosingwa has been a defensive liability for far too long. Ferreira is an excellent reader of the game, an admirable defender and about as model a professional as you are likely to find in football but I don't think he's physically up to it any more.

If you could somehow make Ferreira 24 again, that would be just fine! I would need to have a long, hard study of statistics and perfomances which will only be available to me when I have the club's resources so I will wait before I name names.

A pure winger (preferably right-footed), who can cross and beat his man. We seem to be in for De Bruyne though?

I think we also need to be quietly looking out for a few 'contingency plan' summer purchases in case certain experiments don't work out:

- An understudy for Mata in the case that Kakuta doesn't work out

- A passing midfielder of higher quality than Raul Meireles in case McEachran doesn't bloom as early as we'd hoped

- A defensive midfielder in case Oriol Romeu returns to Barcelona

- A left winger in case Florent Malouda cannot find his old form

- An interim centre forward (a la the Anelka signing) in case Fernando Torres remains a disaster and in the case that Didier Drogba cannot lead the line single-handedly

I just want to feel comfortable with my squad and I want to be able to play the following formations without any player being uncomfortable with their role: 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1 (counter-attacking), 4-3-1-2

6.Is there anything else you want to do the job?.

A company car. And believe me, that's a dealbreaker.

7.A no bullsh*t answer to where we will finish in the Premier League,F.A. cup & (coughs) the Champions League

Premier League: I would like to think 3rd, maybe even scaring Man Utd/Man City a little, but I can promise 4th and the squad being closer to the finished article with more changes coming in the summer

FA Cup: Impossible to predict

Champions League: I think we can beat Napoli through tactics even if the players haven't found their form by that point. After that I would imagine we would be eliminated in the QFs although of course it depends on who we get.
