Some Facts from CFC History

Featured Replies

All these obtained from the Wikipedia page on CFC, so although I know it cannot be 100% trusted, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't make these sort of things up.

- In 1953 Chelsea's crest was changed to an upright blue lion looking backwards and holding a staff - this was the first club badge to appear on shirts, since the policy of putting the crest on the shirts was only adopted in the early 1960s.

- Chelsea currently hold the record for the mist league points in a top flight season (95)

- Chelsea currently hold the record the fewest goals conceded in a league season (15)

- Chelsea currently hold the record for the highest number of Premier League victories in a season (29)

- Chelsea currently hold the record for the most consecutive lean sheets from the start of a league season (6)

- The 21–0 aggregate victory over Jeunesse Hautcharage in the Cup Winners Cup in 1971 remains a record in European competition

- Chelsea currently hold the record for the longest streak of unbeaten matches at home in the English top-flight, which lasted 86 matches from 20 March 2004 to 26 October 2008

- Chelsea's streak of eleven consecutive away league wins, set between 5 April 2008 and 6 December 2008, is also a record for the English top flight

- Chelsea, along with Arsenal were the first club to play with shirt numbers on 25 August 1928 in their match against Swansea Town.

- Chelsea were the first English side to travel by aeroplane to a domestic away match, when they visited Newcastle United on 19 April 1957

- On the final day of the 2009–10 season, Chelsea became the first team in Premier League history to score at least 100 goals in a single season

- Chelsea hold the dubious distinction of having conceded the fastest goal in both the FA Cup Final and the League Cup Final, though they went on to win on both occasions.

- Chelsea currently have the best fan forum in the whole world (maybe not taken from Wikipedia, but generally accepted as fact).

Not bad eh? I especially like the first team to play with a badge and first team to wear numbers on the back of their shirts. Liverpool would still be playing in plain red t-shirts if it wasn't for us revolutionists.

Just makes you remember how good José actually was for us. 15 Goals conceded in a whole season, wow, Man City have conceded nearly 30 and everybody is raving about their defence. In the words of Ray Wilkins, my word.

But we dont have history do we ? Just nearly a dozen records!

We conceded only 15 goals in a season? Wow, that is incredible. We had JT, Gallas, Carvalho, Ferreira (in his prime) at the back, with Makalele as a holding midfielder, I believe. They were immense.

No wonder whenever we had a 1-0 lead, we never felt worried about the other team getting the equalizer.

IMO Makelele is the most under rated player whos ever played for us. He did much but it was so subtle so never recognised. Definitely a legend in my eyes!

I don't know any Chelsea fans who don't regard him as a world-class DM who was central to our success under Jose.

When all the tabloids and the websites were doing their premier league team of the noughties and all that makelele quite often got into the team or mentioned. I feel he was very well appreciated for what he did at the club and definitely one of the best signings in the RA era. Seriously what were Madrid thinking!!!

Great defence under Jose.

http://thechels.info/wiki/South_America_Tour_1929

"Chelsea embarked upon a three-month tour of South America in 1929. During the trip the Blues earned the nickname 'Los Numerados' (the numbered ones), due to the Chelsea team wearing numbers on their shirts; ten years before numbered shirts were introduced by the Football League, and one year after becoming the first club (along with Arsenal) to wear shirt numbers."

In fairness, the type of football played in the league this season is far more attacking than it was back then. Almost 200 more goals scored this season than that season. Still, even that considered, incredible record!

Ok Ok I made a mistake saying hes underrated I never knew he had so much recognition. He is one of a kind and like ZLC said he had a fookin position named after him! He is an all time great and one we will always compare too. You know your great when you can have that! How we miss him now!

Don't we hold the Fastest FA Cup Final goal ever scored as well?

Kind of... The fastest goal in an FA Cup Final was scored against us in 2009 by Saha in about the 20th flippin' second. We hold the record at the Old Wembley though :D

- First team in London to win the Champions League

- First team to beat a team playing on their own ground in the final [okay I don't know if thats true, should be!]

- First team to field someone on their Champions League debut in the final and win the cup

What is it with Saha? If Spurs had loaned him to Munich we wouldn't be European Champions. :laugh2:

Stats from last season.

February

Frank Lampard became the first player to score at least 10 goals in nine consecutive Premier League seasons.

March

Didier Drogba became the first African player to score 100 Premier League goals.

April

Frank Lampard became the first midfielder to score 150 goals in the Premier League.

Unfortunately I think The Dippers did it in Roma in The Eighties.
