Steve Clarke resigns - back to the Bridge?

Featured Replies

It seems he was well respected by the players and managers he has worked alongside. The Liverpool farce wasn't his fault. Would he want to come back though and what would it mean for Eddie?

I've always liked him, but can't see him returning with bobby and Newton there. Might depend if we bring someone else in to replace RDM.

He`s tainted by being at the spammers and the Dippers, I would only have him back after a week of bathing in domestos.

If we stick with RDm, then NO, we stick with Robbie and Eddie.

however, if a new manager comes in, especially as i feel a manager with no previous experience in the UK, then I think Clarke may be an option for the assistant position again.

As stated, this has to be at the request of the actual manager....whomever that may be

No i wouldn't welcome him back , he left us to take up the same job with WEST HAM  . He's had his time.

In his defence he left during Scolari's shambolic reign to help out a Chelsea legend and left them once Zola was sacked.

for me no thanks. Man of honour and all that stuff, but like scott harris said he's had his time.

If Robbie doesnt get the job he will leave, he wont go back to being an assistant coach. With Clarke being avalible i think it makes sense.

any idea why steve clarke is never talked about in terms of a managerial position?he clearly has plenty of respect throughout the country but you never hear of him in the running for full manager jobs. I might be wrong and he gets loads of offers but prefers the assistant position but I find it strange all the same

It's unfair to judge him based on the teams he's been to since Chelsea - we don't know the circumstances that led him to those awful clubs, and he may have been more than happy to have stayed with us

Would like to see him return but can't see it happening.

Wasn't there a bit of an issue between him and the club when he left to do with his contract? I don't think he's on the best of terms with people high up.

When he left us i am sure i seen something about him saying he doesn't want to be an assistant manager anymore , he wanted to become manager of a club.................then he goes and does the same job he did with Chelsea at West Ham then Liverpool.

Well if no one wants to employee you as a manager what are you going to do? stay unemployeed or do what you know what a friend at west ham? I dont blame him at all for going to those clubs. I would love for him to come back. I just dont see it happening.

He would need to go through quarantine for sure first.

He was part of our strongest defence that there has ever been at Chelsea... although its maybe arguable that we had better players then.
