Drogba or Zola

Featured Replies

Both are obviously loved at Chelsea and both have gone down in Chelsea legendry history.

But if you had to make a list of players in order of how they rate in your opinion in our history, who would finish higher out of these two?

Zola 7 years - 312 Games - 80 Goals

Drogba 8 Years - 341 Games - 157 Goals

By the way i found this video which is pretty good;

I suspect, given we've just won the CL, and you've posted that lovely video, Drogba will get more votes, and rightly so.

We stepped up when Roman took over, we bought big players and we won big prizes, and of all the signings made in the Roman era, Drogba's was the most telling.

When you play a lot of big matches you need big game players.

Zola would augment any side, he would get into our side now, and he was clearly the more skilful player and had an infectious personality, he also always put the team above himself, but it's very hard to make a case for him being a better footballer than Drogba, even though they're different types of players.

Drogba was a leader, a warrior and a winner.

Actually scrap that ..

He was a monster.

Agree with Scott, though imagine if we had them both at their peak in the same team.....oohhhh baby.

This is a really hard call for me, I grew up watching Zola, even had posters of him on my wall, but the Drog

is just as loved.

Can't decide, but am grateful of having seem both of them play.

Zola all day long,a fantastic player & gentleman on & off the pitch, never any negativety around him, he's got to be the best role model for kids watching football, Drogba while an excellent servant to the club also had his bad moments, play acting, diving, petulance, lets be honest how many times did he look uninterested while playing, though there's no doubt he's up there as one of our all time best players.

Zola.

Funny how if one of the two penalties he conceded against Barca or Bayern was converted and this wouldnt even be close.

I disagree with that. Even if they were converted and Chelsea didn't go onto with the CL, you could still make a strong case for Drogba's Chelsea career being greater. As players, they're not really comparable in any way as they're so different......but Drogba's impact in important matches has been immense.

And if my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle, as the saying goes.

Zola was superb in a team surrounded by lesser players and adored by the fans. Drogba is a great don't get me wrong but he let us down many a time with penalties and red cards etc.... Frank Lampard is the bigger Legend IMO

Not dismissing your point of view Tommy, but that wasn't the question.

Edit: Actually, scrap that, who cares what the question was ..

fair enough but i just think zola is someone chelsea football club as a whole can identify with alot more, his someone you want to love, his dignified, a top bloke, fantastic footballer and always played with a smile on his face.

Just because he never had the chance to win the champions league with chelsea doesn't make him any less of a player than drogba, his scored goals against the great teams like barcelona, i remember watching his free kick as a kid and the old man coming home pissed a fart after chelsea won 3-1.

this isn;t me having a go at didier by the way i still have him up there with himself. Gianfranco and Peter Osgood as our greatest ever strikers
