Who's leaving before the season starts?

Featured Replies

Malouda, Miereles, Benayoun. I cant understand why people keep saying Essien, the guys got a lot left in him he could be a very usefull player for us this season. Hes looked like one of our sharper players in pre season aswell. Less than 2 years ago people would argue hes the most complete midfielder in the country. An unlucky season plagued with injuries causing a lack of sharpness and our own fans are talking about getting rid of him ?

His injury is a re-occurring one the club doctors said that it is due to his legs being over developed and we have enough midfielders who don't have legs on them, last night was a brilliant example of why mceachran/Oscar need to be on the pitch alongside mikel/lampard

The club doctors also said Sam Hutchinson would never play football again. I agree wih you about Oscar and Josh but seriously Essien is still usefull.

Sold

Benayoun, Malouda, and either essien or Meireles.

Loaned out..

De Bruyne, Lukaku, Mceachran.

That should bring us down under the 25man quota.

Sam was alot younger, and worked on his knees for over a year far as I know.

This isn't the original article I read but from what I can see essiens issue is a biological one whereas hutchinsons is a complaint that he used to get everytime he played, I saw in an interview he said he has had the problem since he first started kicking a ball for us. Maybe there is the possibility essien could overcome this but at his age I'm not sure it is something the club would look to invest in

Yh I remember reading something similiar to this. I appreciate what your saying but in my opinion I think he can still improve his condition and be a usefull player for us next season. 28/29 years old isnt that bad for a centre mid like Essien. He has unbelieveable stamina and is reliable in a variety of positions. If hes not in the first team, hes at least a decent back up player. And btw if Essien had this problem from the start then i dont know how Ive seen him play some unbelievable games from the MH stand carrying these knee problems, just shows how much of a fighter he is.

I dunno it's hard to call as he has been a fantastic servant to the club but I can't see where he really fits in anymore? It would be more beneficial to sell him to an Italian side and maybe get some money in for him to balance the books (I say Italian side because I know he has been linked with juventus) I also worry that robbie is very dependant on his senior players, whether that is because he is trying not to upset the balance I don't know but if he plays lampard and mikel together again I'm going to send him his p45 myself

if we get a good offer i could see a point in selling him but after all hes done for the club and after having a good preseason he should at least get half a season to prove hes over his injury at worst we keep a bad player for another season at best we get essien back to the player he was two or three years ago

As long as Malouda goes, I will be happy. Had 1 good season under Carlo and was decent under Hiddink but apart from that he's been useless. The amount of effort he put into some of the games last season was laughable.

We're already 3 players below our 25 man quota, so no worries there.

Essien should stay, at least for this season. Benayoun, Meireles and Malouda can go.

I think you're right about those we should loan out.

Precisely! How Benayoun went on the pre-season tour is beyond me too, he's got to go given how many better and younger creative players we now have. Ferreira out too once the new RB comes in. I'd sell Essien too, unfortunately.

Then loan out KDB, McEachran, Lukaku maybe if we sign a new striker, and some of the other kids like Kane, Chalobah etc.

Benayoun is versatile, creative and will sit on the bench without complaining. The way it looks like we are looking to play this season with two wingers and a man just behind the striker he could play any of those positions. With a fixture schedule like we will have I think he will be a great squad player for us this season. If there are any injuries to the likes of mata/marin/hazard we could be very grateful we have him in the squad.

I assume his wages arent too high, i see no reason to let him go

I initially said Benayoun to get offloaded but when you put it that way I guess theres no harm in him being used as cover .Its just that the standard of quality in Chelsea's midfield has raised ALOT, he is still a great player so to be honest I'd rather see him progressing his career in another team than rotting behind the scenes with us. Either way as long as Malouda goes....

I agree, I don't think keeping him would harm Josh either [which seems to be the point popping up recently] - it's likely he'll go on loan anyway but as you said in that formation they wouldn't be competing for the same position. Plus what I like about Yossi is he runs his backside off, closes down, tracks back, hussles and always puts onion a shift. If anything - he'll be a good example to our youngsters with his work rate [or at least I'd hope so].

Dont know about others , but definitely Malouda has to look for a new club..

If we have plans to sell him, I would rather the club sold him by now than play him in the pre-season. That place could have gone to some other young player. Don't understand the logic behind playing him in friendlies !

It's better that he be fit and ready if we keep him than not.

Apart from his early days I've always believed Malouda to be giving lots of effort on the pitch. It finally paid off as mentioned earlier during Hiddink and Ancelotti, but the fact is that he just doesn't have the pace or a consitently quick mind to be a genuine starter for me anymore.

I love him though. A positive personality goes a long way for club atmosphere and he always looked like he was trying to enjoy himself out there. He knocked Rio on his ass to score his first goal for us in the Charity Shield and I'll never forget that.

Plus...he's a f*cking European Champion.

If he goes, it's a good move. If he stays, it's sub city, and he'll need to get used to the bench...or the seats behind the bench.

Cheers Flo.

Benayoun and Malouda.

Merieles is still usefull, although I would sell him to get a replacement CM. A defensive mid to give mikel some competition. Mvila? Fellaini?

Benayoun, has to go, never been a fan and anyone that thinks its ok for him to be "happy to sit on the bench" is just wrong and doesn't understand a winning mentality!

Essien, I would let go regretably, he was a monster for us but I don't see him being that player for us again and their are players in the squad who are better than him!

Malouda, not been good enough for 2 years, if wages are a stumbling block we should pay him off a bit to get him gone!

Lukaku, I'd loan him to a Championship club, he needs to learn lots and the Premier League is no nursery!

Josh, lets get him at a good club until Christmas and see how he's developing!

KDB, I believe he's already going back to Genk, but could be wrong?

That would be enough for me, and should leave us with a fair balance in the squad!

I think out of all our youngsters KDB looks the most able to play in the first team.

But he's probably gone to Bremen. (Which isn't bad either).
