Yep we should think about trading either Mata or Hazard for the likes of Downing and Gerrard, once we get either of those Torres would rediscover his form

Could get Carragher on a free at the end of the season  :good2:

Are you a healine writer for the 'Sun', it's just this knack you have for taking a singular line from a post and then using it in a totally different context!

There's been a touch of the Rob Beasley's around here for some time now.

I wasn't referring to you SP I was referring to dkw. I said many many posters say Torres should start at the expense of Ba all the time. Those were my words. He said I was making it up. He only has to look at the first few pages of the Fulham thread to see I was telling the truth. I just found it amusing that shortly after someone on this thread posted they felt Torres deserved to start today. I must stop taking those mushrooms, I'm obviously seeing things.

The myth is that anyone who praises Torres gets attacked. I don't see that happening at all. Vitriol and abuse I believe it was called. What a hoot. The only people getting attacked are people who are consistently (and accurately) criticising Torres, because people think it's unfair. Those people get attacked by people who love attacking but can't handle anyone having a pop back. If they're so precious about what's said about them and Torres, maybe they should think twice about what they say about other posters.

Torres: 32 PL games - 7 PL goals (Chelsea)

Sturridge: 11 PL games - 7 PL goals (LIverpool)

Says it all really. Well done the Chelsea board. Another great decision.

Lukaku: 31 PL games - 14 PL goals (West Brom)

Another oustanding decision.

Torres is clearly in form. He played very well during the week and put in a shift that Ba does not give when played up top alone.

however I'd not play Torres against United purely on the fact he's played midweek football and Ba will be rested and fresh plus he has the edge over them with his goals against them recently.

I'd not cry if Torres started though, after midweek he deserves it IMO.

The full quote for you Davey, so everyone can see where he says that "However I'd not play Torres against United"

That was the important omission.

People just jump on what they want to read, it's bloody pathetic tbh.

It's a Chelsea fan site ffs and you get sh*t for actually getting behind the players of your club.

Joke actually.

I've acknowledged that. I just saw a delicious irony in the timing of the quote. Strange that you pick up on that one yet ignore the countless where people say they want Torres to start, but never mind.

And only 18 of those have been starts at West Brom, had we played Lukaku and Sturridge from the start of the season and given each player 2000 minutes I doubt we would be in such a mess right now.

2000 minutes which is half the amount of minutes Torres has played and more minutes than either player has played at their club. Lukaku currently has a total of 1788 minutes on the field for West Brom, while Sturridge is at 1118 minutes combined total for both Liverpool and us. Torres has played around 4200 minutes for us this season which is a massive amount, I believe even RvP is at around 3300 minutes total at the moment.

Both are very different types of forwards who are increasingly becoming superior to the current Il Floppino - who our board deemed good enough to be the unquestioned number one here at the start of the season.

I just hope we don't make the same mistake with Lukaku that we did with Sturridge, after all I personally though Daniel would get a chance up top after his stint leading the line at Bolton but that never materialized. Luckily Lukaku is less versatile from Sturridge and hasn't done that well when he has been played on the left at West Brom(which happened a couple of times).

I don't mind who starts today, Torres generally has a good game against United. But it is a bit daft to buy a striker in January to give Torres some much-needed rest (he played every game for us the first half of the season) and then just end up playing Torres most of the time when we now have other options.

People just jump on what they want to read, it's bloody pathetic tbh.

This isn't a criticism - Didn't you used to bash Torres more than most? Just wondering whether I've got the right person or not. I seem to remember you being heavily in the anti-Torres (as a player) bandwagon.

Okay SP, this one took me about 5 seconds to find ..

So this quote relates specifically to todays game? Or was that for the Fulham game, after Ba had started the City game?

If you'd like I can go back and find quotes after Ba has had a bad game, and quote those as well.

Edit: You really are a headline writer for the Sun aren't you, will you bring up some quotes from Torres from last year now as well, I mean recycling is all the rage at the moment.

It doesn't matter when the comment was made. Whether it's for today's game or for our Fulham game is beside the point. The fact that some Chelsea fans still want Torres starting over Ba boggles the mind. How is Ba supposed to show some consistency if he is never given a run of games? The same could've been said about Sturridge, who most Torres fanboys deemed "selfish" and "not a team player". You guys have given Torres chance after chance for over two seasons but were also the first to write off Sturridge (and soon enough Ba, probably).

Torres has been our number one striker for almost TWO seasons! He does not have a single Premiership goal in 2013. Yet some think he warrants a start over Ba. Yeah, right.

It really is frustrating and I completely understand where Davey is coming from here.

What does it matter? Are you going to say he only wants Torres because Ba started against City? I could just as easily say people want Ba to start against Utd because Torres started on Thursday (which is in fact the reason RFC_CFC gave for wanting Ba to start today despite feeling Torres was more deserving).

It was the Fulham game, SP. In a debate about whether Torres should play instead of Ba, the poster felt he should, not because he was fresher but because he (apparently) changed the game against City. That was the reason he gave.

The truth is, Ba's brilliant goal changed the game but never mind, we'll let that go. Torres was given the nod and he was sh*t.

I said people say Torres should start at the expense of Ba and I wasn't lying, and I've just gone to the trouble of giving you a quote. They do say it SP, all the time, and that's all I was pointing out.

If you can show me the countless others saying they want torres to start, I will acknowledge those for you.

Liar liar pants on fire.

You ask for a quote I give you a quote and then you come out with a whole load of hogwash. That's the last time I go to the trouble.

Bas scored more goals against Citeh & United in the last 2 games than Torres has in the last 2 years.

Apparently Ba had a bad game at Wembley if you listen to some. I mean, he only went and scored a brilliant goal, in a big game, against a top side.

Your journalistic skills may be outstanding, your math skilss not so much, you said their were countless posts calling for Torres to start, yet had to trawl back 2 weeks to find 1, well done.

I will acknowledge that 1 person 2 weeks ago called for Torres to start after he had come on and helped us to a better performance, 1 person though is not countless, in fact even with your poor math, you can do it, take off 1 sock and count 1 toe, thats how many.

Now before you leap on the quote that Torres came on and helped us to a better performance, was that all him, no, the change of shape helped massively, did he play well in that 35 minute perfromace, yes, but I'm sure you saw it differently and he had a stinker!

How he played against City is irrelevant as is Ba's performance, although, entirely predictably, you've undersold one and oversold the other. No doubt we'll be seeing you on the Sturridge thread soon. For someone who's so good at maths, you don't half cook the books.

You got a quote, that's all that matters, however after all the hogwash that provoked from you, forgive me if I leave it there.

Edit: Sorry it was 2 weeks old. Maybe you should stipulate all your conditions beforehand.

I see you left out the relevant part again.

Seriously, if you're not employed by the Sun, give them a call on Tuesday with your skill of presenting only what you want, they'll snap you up.
