Indeed Torres has no doubt brought in millions to the club based soley on shirt sales and other merchandice but the £50 million and £170 odd grand a week would be very hard to make back..

I reckon if PSG or Anzi wanted him we could hold out for £15-20 million but other than them, I doubt very many would pay top doller for him.

I am far from one of his bigger critics on here and right now I would have to consider that if we could get £15-20M and his wages off our bill then that would be good business.

It seems inevitable that we are going to have to review the striker situation within the next couple of windows and it is important we get it right this time.

Falaco seems like the obvious choice, would certaibnly hate to see him end up at City.

It is but we can't help if the player and his agent holds us to ransom

We can, we can walk away.

I like Torres and I do see what he brings to the side and his hard work has helped us win the CL and his start to this season has hardly been 'pathetic' as some would like to brand it.

However we need goals and Torres does not look like a RVP or likewise who will bang them in for fun, Falcao does this in Spain and has done so in Portugal with a outstanding goals to game ratio however what happens if he suffers a few games without scoring if we brought him in? Would it be this all over again?

Names like Bent, Huntelaar, Dzeko, Falcao, Jovetic, Cavanni have been mentioned but each I suppose comes with a risk with varying pros and cons.

I'd keep Torres as we need more than 2 strikers at the club but his wages and demands for games may mean we have no other choice than to sell if we continue to play with only 1 up top, I do feel if he moved away from the goldfish bowl he currently is in he would no doubt thrive but who knows.

Did torres agent hold a gun to romans head or something? I'm sure if roman was that much against paying him that price then he could of easily ended negotiations!

Does anyone else remember the pages of posts there were when we were trying to sign Torres, and the orgasms of joy that exploded when the signing was achieved?

Seems like a lifetime ago.

I suppose in any event we took a hero off them and in return they brought in Caroll, Henderson and Downing who have all went on to become world class footballers...

I doubt anyone would've expected what was to follow.

I did say we would win the CL with Torres....

This is my biggest concern with bringing in Falcao.

Many state that this would be in no way comparable to the signings of Shevchanko and Torres but I don't think it would come without it's own risks.

Shevchenko was a more obvious risk but Torres was familiar to our league, spoke English, had age on his side, was proven against top class Premiership opposition and whilst he was out of form and coming off the back of an injury I don't think anyone could honesty have predicted the goal return that we have received with Torres.

Falcao, as far as I am aware, doesn't speak a word of English, it is a different league, different climate and ultinmately, as with Torres and Sheva, this would be an absolute monster of a transfer that would probably even bamboozle the Torres signing and with that comes a ridiculous amount of pressure and expectation.

Like you say, if he went 4 or 5 games without scoring then I am pretty sure we would all be sweating with every further game that went by without a goal in fear of a repeat scenario.

Wheres the like button on my iphone...

usually there is a little tick on the top right of everyones posts than you can click mate.

Like any orgasm theres a build up, joy and then a feeling of was it worth the effort.

It was a big deal when we signed him, it was like we got one over on them. He had taken us apart so many times that it felt good that he was on our side now and would be taking teams apart for us. Sadly that hasnt ever happened.

I was one of those fans texting and tweeting my liverpool fan mates laughing that we had taken their golden boy and they had wasted most of the fee on a total donkey. I still think to this day that he should never have played that first game against Liverpool.

That is the way I have been feeling about it too tbh.

Falcao seems very settled in Spain and done an interview on Sky Sports a month back saying he loved it and his family were very happy, as such with the interest of Madrid and even now of Barcelona in recent weeks it puts doubts into my mind if he would even come here when he could possibly stay in Spain.

Anyone we bring in will be judged on goals from the get go and a failure to hit the ground running may hamper them like it did with Torres and Sheva although Falcao does seem to be at his peak and thus no injury of late like Torres which did affect his form before we bought him.

I suppose it all comes down to RA and if he is willing to take another risk when his big 2 have failed, I honestly feel we missed the boat with Falcao when AVB came in before he joined Madrid, I just can't see him at Chelsea for some reason.

True, the only time Torres brought me to climax was his goal against Barcelona. He should be dumping hefty loads on every other teams faces.

I was criticized on this forum because I didn't wanted him here, but I would never in my life thought that things with Torres would go this way.

It's your fault then...he must have read it!!!!

I do not believe he will play for Chelsea either, have a feeling that RA will not sanction the move, not that he is frighten of being bitten again, but because he likes the idea of a profitable club, also relying on what we have coming through our youth academies/loanees, which are costing us Millions, perhaps a marquee signing now & again, but not the norm to which has been our usual way, if anyone comes in this next transfer period it will be inexpensive stopgap player for now.

We should have gone for Berbatov in the summer.

Imagining his capability to bring others into play while we have Oscar; Hazard and Mata buzzing around would have been quite sexy. His passing; first touch and technique are just on another plain - would have been the ultimate stop gap.

Yeah I was thinking someone like Huntelaar who will go for a low price due to last year of contract and he could do a real job in the EPL while we have Danny and Torres for the CL then in the summer we can regroup and see where we go from there.

I doubt a January mega signing will happen again, the sound bites coming out the club go against what the press are prinitng.

Not imo.

We should have at least been in fighting for RVP who has been ruthless like last season.

How do we know he is frightened of another big buy? After Sheva he went and bough Torres. Roman strikes me as a man who gets what he wants one way or another. I truely think that if Roman wants him then we will get him. He may cost the club a fortune and rise the highest wages yet again but if the big boss says yes then we will see Falcao in the blue of Chelsea.

Either would have been massive improvement over what we have now
