If Sturridge gets a run of games from now until January and scores about 10 goals would everyone still want Falcao ?

Yes, but if Danny does that then I'd offer him a new contract without the slightest hesitation.

I agree, but would he accept the contract knowing he won't be playing regular football again. I don't think he would to be honest, and then we would lose a dangerous player to someone like Liverpool and i can see that coming back to haunt us.

Yes, this has a feeling of Aguero all over again. I don't think we should sleep on this one, even if we have to pay slightly over the odds to get him in January.

I also think we should keep Studge.

I'm not making excuses by the way i'm simply trying to figure out why his performance levels have dropped dramatically in the last 5 games!

You've always deluded yourself where Torres is concerned. His performance levels are pretty much where they've always been, give or take a little upturn in form, and I mean a little. You've had your love goggles on and refused to see what most sage judges have always known. He's a busted flush. Danny gave him an object lesson in movement today and all of a sudden the chances came and nobody was talking about service anymore. It's simple centre-forward stuff and Torres hasn't got a grasp of it. I've complained long and hard about his movement. He is a calamity of a centre-forward.

This is THE most telling post amongst all the ridiculous extremes this thread has seen.

Whilst Torres held the support of the match going fans (and we were getting results) he was fairly safe, but if that goes i'm afraid he's f**ked.

I will add here that i have been one of Torres's most fervent supporters, and the way he's been singled out by some on here has, frankly been shameful. But.....

I 'turned' today too, in all honestly i've been losing faith for a few games now. I'm no real lover of Sturridge, but to be fair on the lad, he looked more dangerous than Torres when he moved to the centre by an embarrassing margin.

IMO Sturridge deserves to start in the middle BEFORE Torres, and Torres should be used on the right (where to be fair he was quite effective at times last season) when we rotate those three front/midfield postions.

That all being said i will continue to support Torres when he plays, as i do ALL the players.

Agree with everything here, apart from Torres being played wide. He isn't better than any of our wide players in those positions.

Probably depends on the wages he's offered, heh.

I can see why he'd want to move on if we buy Falcao. It's not hard to imagine him thinking that he'd never see the pitch behind Falcao if it took this long for him to get out from behind Torres.

The most disappointing thing about his recent performances is lack of a fight. He just totally gave up. Shameful.

At least Sheva was giving his all, Torres is just....there. Having him in a team is about as useful as bringing an impotent man to an orgy.

That's your opinion and mine is that in the first 10 or so games of this season his movement was very good. If you don't agree with that then fair enough but I was mostly talking to people who also believe he was playing well at the beginning and who also believe he has recently deteriorated dramatically.

I know you have never been impressed by him and that is fine but don't try and tell me I'm deluded ffs!

Any striker is going to miss chances, as Danny did today, but at least he is getting into threatening positions. Torres today was anonoymous....

Robbie needs to make a big decision for the Juve game....

There have been times in recent weeks where people have said Mata, Hazard and Oscar were just as bad as Torres. The truth was they were crying out for a centre-forward that they could provide service to and Torres wasn't offering them anything. It's never been a question of service to Torres it's always been about Torres preventing that service arriving. Players like Hazard, Oscar and Mata will create for fun, as we saw today just as soon as Torres went off. Robbie has never substituted Torres after 60 minutes before and I have been staggered as he's regularly got full games or 80 minutes or more when he has done nothing and Danny has had to watch on from the bench. Robbie finally stopped giving Torres preferential treatment after an hour and hopefully that is a sign of things to come. We will win nothing with Torres as our centre-forward. I said in the summer Danny would be the better option up front, I said he would score more goals if given the chance, and I was laughed out of court, as if Torres was the infinitely superior player. No longer. There can't be any debate any more. Torres is shocking and Danny is easily the better option. Let's face it, my old nan would be a better option. And yes Bluehatter, you've been deluding yourself ever since Torres arrived. It's not so much that you've seen the light as it's impossible to ignore anymore, and why? Because Danny came on and showed him what to do, in terms of movement. Had Torres played the full game, as he usually does, you would have been straight on here telling everyone Torres was no worse than his teammates and he was lacking service. It's the same yarn you've been spinning ever since he arrived, and it's no more true today than it's ever been, just as it's never been true that people have targeted Torres unfairly. Danny proved in little more than half an hour that all the stick has been warranted, simply by showing what a little bit of movement will do, just as he proved against Utd when he got the chance. Yes he failed to convert but at least chances started coming, which is a damn sight more than ever happens when Torres is on the field.

So because danny has played 30 minutes and got 3 chances and missed them all that makes you right and me wrong? Like I have said danny's movement was much better than torres today but it might of just been a one off. I agree he deserves a start tuesday but I also am sure he will get no more chances than torres would. Hope he proves me wrong but playing against a tired west brom defence is a bit different to a solid italian back three!

I'm sure you were the one last year calling me all sorts because I was praising torres when he played well and was assisting people! It's the same with sturridge today but your deluding yourself that he is some sort of world beater now that he managed to get 3 chances against west brom and miss them all?

Edited by Bluehatter

If RDM starts Torres against Juventus, I will be really really really annoyed.

Well start getting annoyed, because Torres is starting, I just know he is.

Enough is enough. Problem is, no team will take him unless it's a loan. Sad but true

Very true I think, except chinese or arab clubs if he wants to go there. Maybe loan and buy out clause in range of 15 mil would be just fine. Atletico would accept that I think.

Play Mata up front. Oscar behind him with Hazard and Moses on the wings. When we don't have the ball, Mata can drop deeper into the attacking midfield position to give us more options in midfield. Strikers are overrated.

No no no no no no! Sorry mate but you need a focal point for your attacks in the premier league and even if sturridge and torres don't score at least they occupy defenders! We ain't spain and we ain't got messi!

We need a new strike force, Danny and Torres are not top level strikers.

We have world class players behind them in Hazard and mata...imagine what a Drogba or Falcao would do with that service!

Please let's just get some options in, even Lukaku back at this point would be progress.

Except I'm not calling him a world-beater, am I? I'm simply saying he is an improvement on Torres.

Also, I have never called you all sorts nor anyone else on here, you must be confusing me with someone else.

I am however saying you're wrong and always have been about Torres, but I guess it's all about opinions.

Some people have nothing else to do but hate on players
