Yet both failed to do the thing we most need a striker to do.

Sigh what a shame. About 90% of the fans were behind him cheering him on trying to build his confidence these last 2 years but it's not worked. The curse of the Chelsea striker strikes again.

Thing is though I can hold my head up high, I've been behind him 100% the whole time he's been here but it just hasn't worked out so far and probably never will at Chelsea, but I will continue to support him while he's here no matter what. I understand the frustration but the way some of the people on here have spoken about him has been horrible, things you wouldn't even say about players from the opposition.

I think it's very harsh for anyone to criticise sturridge after barely any game time this season. admittedly a greedy player and not ideally a team player, he does however create space, and is clearly desperate to score. id rather a greedy striker than one who does not look like they care about scoring. frankly, I am done with torres, its always been excuse after excuse and never delivering. Torres has never scored a winner for us, never scored in a tight 1-0 victory- the sort of games where top class strikers earn their stripes. sturridge deserves a chance now and even though I expect him to frustrate us as much as he delights, at least its ACTION... the last word I would associate with Fernando torres.

Not saying anything on torres, there is nothing more to say.

With regards to Danny, I would ask all those that where so paitent with torres to show Danny at least half of that paitents. When given games he has always scored.

If we are to challenge in Europe and England we need a serious upgrade on these 2 players.

Trouble is, it's the middle of November. For the next two months we have Torres and Sturridge and that's it. Torres has had his chance and has surely proved once and for all that he isn't up to it. We have nothing to lose by giving Sturridge a run of games at CF at least until January.

Torres today was just horrific. It just can't go on anymore. Our own fans were cheering when he went off, that's how bad it is. He just does nothing and Sturridge really showed him up. The best move for both parties (the club and Torres) would be for him to move on to another club. It's the last straw. I've supported him and believed in him since day one but today is a big turning point for everyone to be honest. Twitter tells the whole story.

He's not good enough, we knew it and our board should have known it too. Danny is talented but a poor finisher, he should now start but he will be no more than back up to whoever comes in next.

eggs in one basket and if nothing serious happens in Jan then this season may be an eye opener.

I think today's finally the day, we just can't keep this going on any longer. We need a replacement in January. For the mean time, we would do well to give starts to Sturridge.

RVP would have been ideal but I guess we can add that to the list of misses.

I think its interesting when revisiting the Torres threads at what point did each of us give up on him. Giving his poor performances he has had remarkably good support from the fans. I remember Gary Birtles getting pilloried by a press that wasnt half as vindictive as it is now.

I honestly have no idea about his contract. Probably about two more seasons after this I imagine. He most likely will go as part of the Falcao bid, makes the offer more attractive to Atl. Madrid.

He'll help himself if he leaves. He looks like he has no desire and he doesn't look like he is enjoying playing. I like him but he has to go, no question. It's becoming Torres FC and that's not a good position to be in.

Torres takes three matches to get on the end of three chances. If he didnt hide he is by far the better finisher than Danny.

He most likely will start, but for no good reason. Sturridge today did more up front in 30 mins that Torres has done in 5 games.

Likely cos he cost 50 million and Roman wants him started till he gets a return on his investment?
