think we're all pretty sure word comes down from above about certain players/play time. will be very interesting to see who starts on tuesday

If you're right and Robbie's policy towards Torres is dictated to by Roman, Nando may just have found his luck has run out.

We lose to Juve and we are bang in trouble and I'm sure Roman values staying in the CL above seeing his poster boy indulged.

you are right. and either way im sure robbie and roman will be having a talk before tuesday night

I echo the sentiments of many posters here today...I have generally been supporting him believing that some of the criticism has been harsh at times, especially when he has contributed to the overall team play...of course its easy to be non critical when we are winning and playing well as the cracks get papered over with the results, despite perhaps the poor performances by individual players...Torres of course included. But given our recent results the spotlight well and truly falls on the strikers despite how badly the back four and some of the midfielders are performing. I think after watching him today he looked well and truly crushed and mentally out of the game, even more so that what we have seen in the past and perhaps the weight of the transfer together with him not scoring has now finally caught up with him. He certainly isn't the player he once was, or the player many of us here would hope that he would turn into as his time here went on. It is not easy to put square pegs in square holes let alone putting square pegs in round holes and perhaps Torres is a square peg trying to fit into a round hole and he will never succeed of ever fitting in despite his past success, or despite how hard he tries and I think he has finally realized that; he now probably hopes that he will be moved in January simply to save anything that is left of his dying career as a striker. If he had any sense he just might ask for a move and I think that will be good both for him and this club...just don't know who will take a struggling striker and his wages unless we pay a large portion of it. I don't think we will see much more of him..perhaps more cameo's than starts until he leaves..

He will probably still do well abroad, but as much as i like the guy and supported him during his chelseas years i cant see him ever being the man we need at chelsea. I will always be a fan and he will always have 'that goal' against barca but things just havent worked out.

After 62 minutes, Roberto Di Matteo decided that enough was enough and that he wanted his most dangerous XI on the field. After 62 minutes, Di Matteo took Torres off the pitch. What does that say?

Sorry to say, today is the day I think we have reached the point of no return with Torres.

Just seeing Danny have them chances today, showed up the lack of confidence and movement on Torres' part. I would rather have someone who misses most of his chances, than someone who does not even get into the position to miss them, and when he does, just lacks any sort of confidence in front of goal.

We need a top striker so badly it's getting embarrassing. We should do, or pay, whatever we have to, to buy Falcao. I think he would be the difference between battling it out to stay in the top 4 and mounting a serious challenge to the Manchester clubs.

If Sturridge gets a run of games from now until January and scores about 10 goals would everyone still want Falcao ?

Yes, you can't expect to win anything with only 1 striker.

Would Torres start for West Brom? Says it all. Their squad alone didn't cost 50m.

Can we change the title of this thread to "Farewell Torres" yet?

Fingers crossed it happens in January and not in the summer,

Probably won't mean much on here but does anyone think torres needs a break for a a couple of games? Am I right in saying he has played every single game this season barring the united cup game?

In my opinion he started the season really strongly but seems to have been the only player in our squad who hasn't had break every now and then. I'm not making excuses by the way i'm simply trying to figure out why his performance levels have dropped dramatically in the last 5 games!

They haven't really dorpped, they've just returned to normal after a few games in which he played okay instead of sh*t.

Yes. sturridge is not good enough to lead chelsea

What if he scored 15 goals ?

Just coming out of ground, just to say Chelsea fans as one have lost patience with Torres after yet another dismal showing without hunger or passion.

I strongly believe this is the beginning of the end for him.

Now he has lost the faith of the thousands of true blues his days are numbered.

This is THE most telling post amongst all the ridiculous extremes this thread has seen.

Whilst Torres held the support of the match going fans (and we were getting results) he was fairly safe, but if that goes i'm afraid he's f**ked.

I will add here that i have been one of Torres's most fervent supporters, and the way he's been singled out by some on here has, frankly been shameful. But.....

I 'turned' today too, in all honestly i've been losing faith for a few games now. I'm no real lover of Sturridge, but to be fair on the lad, he looked more dangerous than Torres when he moved to the centre by an embarrassing margin.

IMO Sturridge deserves to start in the middle BEFORE Torres, and Torres should be used on the right (where to be fair he was quite effective at times last season) when we rotate those three front/midfield postions.

That all being said i will continue to support Torres when he plays, as i do ALL the players.
