I say we should sign either Cavani or Lewandowski. Especially the latter as he will be a cheaper option with just over a year left on his contract.

If we are replacing Torres should be Falcao. Not sure if he can play in Europe tho which would be a headache.

Falcao would surely be able to play in the Champions League if Atl. Madrid are only in the Europa League? Correct me if I'm wrong.

In January the priority should be signing somebody like Huntelaar who we know can put in the goals and is on very good form. He'd be even better with Mazacar behind him. If we can get somebody like that then we could even win the league (logically easier to win than the CL) and if not then we would have more confidence in qualifying for the CL next season, because although the whole team is scoring we need somebody in particular we can rely on.

I wish your intelligence would.

Easy tiger!!!!

You calling him a donkey Zola?

:P

Flattering Torres a bit, not only is he dead he is already buried. Originally I was Against the signing and he's not changed my mind it probably best for both us and Nando to part ways asap.

Sick of feeling like Torres Fc which is in part the media always focusing on him but also because he does a pointless interview every few weeks where he states how he "didn't care if we won or lost" or how "Gerrard is the best he has played with". Frankly I'm annoyed how a player who hAd contributed so little to our success seems more bothered about talking than trying to improve his shambolic performances. Only the fact that Studge is better on the right than down the middle as well as his price tag is keeping him in the team.

Sadly we must accept that we won't win the league with Nando leading the line and its time to move on.

Send from my phone so sorry if its filled with errors.

His performances haven't been too shambolic though. Hes scored 5 important goals for us. Great improvement.(NOT!) :face_palm:

I think the problem we have with bring a new striker in is he needs to be a bigger enough name to replace Torres, no matter what as soon as Torres is benched the media will be all over it, now if we bought Falcao for example then it would look more reasonable but say if we got Remy then it wouldnt look so good.

For me the reason Torres is starting every match is just to save face. Yes he has had a few good games but he has also had some real stinkers and actually not bothered in some. Now try and think if it was someone like Studge who didnt try in a game do you think he would be playing the next game? No! Robbie would have stuck him on the bench. But with Torres i think the club want to save face, they have done everything they can to get him going, I think Robbie could be worried that if he stuck him on the bench for more than one game and gave Studge a run then Torres would slip back to the Torres of last season which is even worse than we have now.

Torres is starting because he's the best striker we have mainly, Sturridge isn't good enough to lead our line. Say what you want about Torres overall but this season he has done a job for us. Should he be doing more? Yes, but he contributes a hell of a lot more than Sturridge would.

That is the trouble with technological progress, full of errors

I think Torres is starting because he cost £50million and Sturridge is in his last year. I agree Studge is not good enough to lead our line but quite frankly Torres isn't good enough either. Overall Torres has not done the job for us which is to score goals. I don't think hes scored enough given the time hes played and the opportunities hes had. E.g Norwich and Tottenham for example.

To say he contributes alot more than Sturridge would is not fair IMO. I know for certain that Studge would not work as hard however, Studge would be getting goals more frequently than Torres I feel. Like he did last season against teams like Sunderland, Newcastle and Tottenham away. He deserves a chance.

Sturridge would contribute more than Torres is at the moment, from the very little we have seem of him so far this season you can see that he is making better runs than Torres and shooting more. Admittedly he makes the wrong decision sometimes by shooting but at least he's giving it a go, and I'd much rather see Struddige make a few mistakes and learn from them rather than watch Torres lose the ball week in week out and not change at all. Sturridge needs to be given a few starts before a proper conclusion can be made.

He has scored goals this season that have won us games, we all know he is not the one to take us forward but he IS doing a decent enough job for the time being.

Obviously some feel his goals are meaningless despite being spoon fed the improvement and importance of his form so far this season.

We all want a better striker, and we will get it soon enough but some of the stuff on here is bordering on an 'agenda'.

Sadly we must accept that we won't win the league with Nando leading the line and its time to move on.

Sadly, many people said that about the CL last season, now please remind me how we fared last season. Vague recollection of celebrating a couple of achievements, or did we?

Never say Never, it has a habit of retuning to haunt you.

How do you know that when Sturridge hasnt had the chance. What i can tell you is that Sturridge scored 16 goals from the wing last season. So out of position he still managed to hit the back of the net quite a few times.

Now I know that my idea here is about to get ripped apart because it involves putting two of the most volatile players on our team on the pitch at the same time, I think it might be interesting to try 2 up top, just for one match...perhaps a 4-4-1-1.

Cech

Azpi - Ivan - Luiz - Cole

Oscar - Ramires - Mata - Hazard

Torres

Sturridge

Hear me out for a moment.... :blush2:

The obvious knock on Studge is his inability to make the extra pass. He is a shoot first forward who rarely thinks twice about taking a shot. Torres, in his new form, seems to be enthralled with the idea of playing "false 9" Spanish football. He wants to pass and create but seems to lack the ability to ever pull the trigger. Would it hurt to allow him to do just that? The man has been doubling back to make a few key tackles in the middle third and his work rate has been splendid (IMO) this season.

Definitely know this might be the most far-fetched "help Torres succeed plan" on this forum yet, but hey...nothing else seems to work.

Maybe Robbie isnt seeing enough in training from him and since he hasnt signed a contract then why should he be playing when he plans to leave in Jan/Summer?No one on here knows what goes on behind the scenes so the ones we see playing are the ones who must merit it on levels of training ect ?

Aside from helping win the corner that led to Drogba's late equaliser in Munich he did nothing, The Barca goal was a high point but ultimately it wasn't crucial as we would more likely have progressed anyway. Still he took it well and ensured we got through.

The League is a different kettle of fish so to speak, the best team in europe doesn't always win the champions league as minor things can league to a radically different outcome. Under Mourinho we were the best team in Europe but always came up just short, the same could be said when Hiddink was in charge however in order to win the league you have to be consistently good over 38 games something which I can't see happening with a Striker who goes missing as much as Torres.

He is scoring but he isn't scoring enough considering the service and that's the problem.

Mate two different competitions. You can get lucky winning the Champions League as we did at certain points (you create your own luck and we were due some but luck is luck) but the league is a longer stretch. We do not have a Drogba or Lampard to bail us out and carry us through 38 games.

Right now the league is not in our hands and we need Man U to slip up. There is no chance in hell that we can win the league with our strike force. Man U and Man City have 3 strikers each who are all better than Torres.

. I agree Studge is not good enough to lead our line but quite frankly Torres isn't good enough either.

If they are both not good enough, who do you suggest we play as our main man? PRECISELY!!! there is no on else, so we have to make the best of a bad job, though saying that, there is one answer to our prayers, Moses.

He doesn't get into the right positions either. I've watched him closely. Sometimes he seems to move into positions where its nearly impossible for Mata etc to deliver a decent ball to him without it getting intercepted by the opposition. Its almost as if Torres hides in a cluster of oppositon players to do this. Other times he just does not get in the box. Tottenham away was a frustrating example. He never got in the box as much as we were expecting and then comes Sturridge. What does Sturridge do? Gets in the box and scores.
