Are Man U even title contenders?

Featured Replies

Guaranteed to be there at the end....2nd or 3rd depending where they are positioned in January and who they might buy in the transfer window

Some decent points made in the article but I still think United will be there or there abouts at the end of the season. As long as Fergie is manager they will always compete for the major trophies. After that who knows? No matter what you think of Fergie it will be some big shoes to fill.

No...they will be up there but they do not have a team...they are being carried as they are every season only we have strength in depth that we had last time we won the league, if not more so. The real challenge will come from city I feel, Mancini is well overdue his p45 and a change in management could well see them mount a serious challenge

The thing is you can never right off Man Utd they are always up there n now they have the best striker in the league in RVP too so they're gonna be up there. The race is still very close and we're only a point clear so I'm nit gonna write off teams that are just behind us yet.

Mancini will be out in the summer unless City win the league, it is worrying they're playing sh!te but not losing. I just worry they might get Mourinho next season.

Might be in the wrong section, but no - they're not.

All it would take for United's season to crumble is for one of the league's many "Hachet-Men" to take out Robin Van Persie, then everyone could just sit back and watch them bleed points.

Van Persie is a damn good player, I cannot deny that at all, but he's also the epitomy of putting all the eggs in one's basket.

Yes of course they will, they always perform, even with players we consider "lesser" in their team.

They will miss Ferguson when he leaves, he has everything going for him at that club. Loyalty, authority, and power. When he goes, I can see the next manager struggling, unless it's Mourinho who may only come in for a few years

In my opinion they shouldn't be, but somehow United always seem to dig themselves out of tough situations and win games. I honestly feel that this is one of the most average United sides i have ever seen since i became a football fan. I feel that their strongest position is the strikers position but everywhere else looks weak to me. That defense for a start is old and the young players they have coming through that defense look very poor. They went and got Buttner and to be honest i think he is crap, simple as that. That midfield looks average as well, i don't rate Cleverley or Young or Carrick or any of them really, Kagawa is ok but i feel he is still settling in. Valencia outside of the strikers position is the only one of their players i truly feel has anything special, but even he has been pretty average so far this season. I don't know how they are doing it but they keep winning, i really feel United are there for the taking this season.........well they should be anyway.

I agree that Man U shouldn't be title contenders - their squad is horribly unbalanced, with an increasingly mediocre midfield and defence balancing out a powerful strike force.

However, as long as SAF is there, I don't see them not seriously competing for a title. He knows how to win, by hook or by crook - increasingly by crook I feel, given the (probably not-so) coincidental deterioration in refereeing standards over the last few years.

How Man U will fare afterwards is the question - the next manager will not be able to cow the FA and the refs the way that SAF has. Their financial situation is also problematic - doing a Liverpool is not out of the question. The Glazers have also never had to appoint a manager - who would they appoint? Their knowledge of football will be truly tested and I feel they may be found wanting.

I reckon Moyes is destined for the United job, can't see Jose at United for some reason.

I have a feeling they will get Jose.

Certainly hope not, money will be a problem for them getting him. (lack of)

Jose says hed come back to England some time....There are only MAN UTD , MAN CITY , or US he would probably consider taking the challenge at.....I reckon he wouldnt come to us because of his past treatment.....Out of the other two Man utd are the choice id have to say.....
