The only space I have on the floor is in between the door that swings into that space and the sub. It'll be safer to put it on top of the sub!

You won't believe this, my son told me he's going to play FIFA14 against Luke; "not today mate, I don't want anyone else round this weekend", he walked off laughing and muttering to himself. Next thing I know he's in the toy room bragging to Luke because he beat him 3-1. I looked a right mug when I stormed in to tell Luke to go home. You can play your mate at computer games (and talk to them) without them even leaving their own home! Bloody incredible.

Ha ha, you daft sod. There's quite a few on here play fifa, you should give them a game. Good to see he's enjoying the console.

We should really have got him online ages ago, he loves the fact that he can play his mates.

I don't play it mate, thought I would but I rarely find the time.

So I opted to have the Xbox sit on top of my sub. My Apple Time Machine survived sitting on there for years so hopefully the Xbox is the same.

 

Early impressions, not much yet as every game needs to install beforehand!!! The quality of the Kinect camera is excellent but it will not be much more than a gimmick for me at the moment.

Out of interest, why an Xbox One and not a PS4? Loved both Watch Dogs and AC.

Now that they've been out for a while, which do people think is the best one to get?

 

I've never had an Xbox, I've been Playstation since Nintendo stopped making proper consoles.

 

I'd be mostly using a new console for sandbox type games, like GTA, and Fifa or PES online. 

 

I have heard some quesitonable things about Xbox and some sort of privacy issues with the Kinect thing?

Right. I used to have an Xbox 360 but I decided to get the PS4 when it came when purchasing next gen consoles, mainly because it was a lot cheaper and is a more powerful machine in general.

 

I am happy with my decision, mainly because most PS4 games will run in 1080p, whereas the Xbox One only peaks at 900. If you're a fan of beautiful looking games, this is quite a big deal, especially if you've just bought a new TV like I did at the time, and want them to look extra sexy. 

 

I use my PS4 for sandbox games too, Watchdogs, will probably get GTA V when it comes out this autumn. I've already pre-ordered Destiny, so I'm looking forward to that and to Far Cry 4. FIFA 15 looks good too. 

 

Kinect rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way when the Xbox One first came out, since it was bundled with the console at launch. People thought it was "spying on them" since it is still active even when the Xbox One was turned off. You can buy a cheaper version of the Xbox One without Kinect now though, I think. I suppose when it comes down to it, it's about the exclusives on each console.

 

Titanfall is a AAA exclusive for Xbox One, the new Tomb Raider will be too, apparently. PS4 has Infamous: Second Son as their exclusive, the new Uncharted will be too, and so will No Man's Sky (which looks bloody brilliant!).

 

The time to buy would be this autumn, since there are a lot of games coming out then. I'm very happy with my PS4, i'd definitely recommend it. You'll be familiar with Sony since you used to have a PS4 anyway.

Been on Playstation since the early PS1 days so I'm a little bias but I really enjoy their exclusives.

Bloodborne and The Order which are due out early next year look really interesting.

Generally the cross platform titles have better frame rates and resolutions on the PS4 as well.

PS4 it'll probably be for me I think. And a nice leather recliner chair to sit in.

Finally caved, PS4 coming next week! FIFA 15 (after not bothering with the last few) will be a must! Are you reading Gem?

I had a PS3 and xbox 360 and the PS3 was just lame compared to the 360. However, i think when i do move on to the next gen i will be getting a PS4. Xbox are just stupidly priced and it pissed me off that you cant play you 360 games on the XB1. I will keep my 360 and get a PS4 in the new year i think.

I was Xbox until last Christmas, love my PS4 and hoping to play it a bit more now that the good games are due out for Christmas.

I have no idea Gem but I will try when I get home from work and update you.

I did have to download a huge update before I could play my 'legit' DVD's and Bluerays so you must have interent if you want to watch movies to start with.

Ok Gem, done a bit of digging and found out the below:

It Depends on the file container burnt to the disk.

MKVs wont play from any media, disk, USB etc.

If its a dvd of a camrip (filmed in a cinema) then its likely to be AVI or MP4, both of which will play as far as I know.

I think xboxone plays most things now after the latest update.....

Doesn't really help you gem. Makes me feel a bit smug though :)
