Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

I haven't read that lukaku wants to be first choice anywhere. He has said he wants to play rather than sit in the stands, which I always took, as him not want to have a season like he had 1st time around.

Maybe he should have fought for his place last season, on the other hand, we had 4 strikers for 1 position, and it was a world cup year. In the end it probably was better for him to go out on loan.

No one knows whether he put a transfer request in or not. Yes he has said some things that were a bit unprofessional, so has hazard and Courtois, according to some reports.

I think his attitude has always been spot on when he's playing, barring to Wilmots incident, which is something that happens all the time, and was bore out of frustration, more than anything else.

He is still a young boy, and I think he is very driven, I personally think that if the club put their arm round him, and made him feel more important, he would happily fight for his place.

Some players need a kick up the arse, others need a cuddle. (Yaya I'm looking at you!)

If he does go, I hope we get at least £25m for him, and he goes abroad. Even with that sort of money, there aren't many options for strikers that would happily take 2nd choice, while being an improvement on lukaku.

We could go for players that haven't played at the top level yet, and are keen to play champions league football, like remy, bony, or rossi.

We could bring in a young prospect and hope they grow into a top player, maybe icardi.

The 3rd option would be signing someone who isnt a number nine but is versatile enough to play there, like firmino, depay, or lacazette.

Or we could gamble on a player with injury/attitude baggage like balotelli, falcao, or el shawaary.

I don't think there is enough out there to make selling lukaku a good decision.

bony would be great as the 2nd striker

theres also lavezzi, but i dont think he can play as a CF

Ba was on his way to Arsenal for a medical before getting the phone call to return because Lukaku demanded to leave.

Bingo, Lukaku should have stayed to fight. Jose was probably even looking for that quality in his personality but instead he moaned and wanted to go. Had he stayed on til Jan with little game tine bad then ashes to move fair enough, but he didn't want to stay so we had to call any deal for Ba off.

Yeah in what world is Lukaku worth less than Luke Shaw, lol.

Precisely.

Strikers score goals. Goals win games. Hence the hefty price teams are prepared to pay for players who know how to find the back of the net. I am pleased to see Chelsea benefiting from some good business from KDB, mata and Luiz - as too many times in the past it has been us who has been paying overvalue and held to ransom by lesser teams.

If they want a player who is 21 and knows how to score in the premier league, then pony the f**k up with the £30m or kindly piss off and dont let the door hit your arse on the way out. Time for the board to play f**kin hardball with these teams and screw them like they've been screwing us for the last 10 years.

bar stewards.

From the business point of view, Lukaku for 23m as reported is not good enough. Lukaku should be sold if that's the case for around 30m. Just because Everton cannot afford to pay, Chelsea will offer him to someone else.

Everton have already paid £5m for a years loan so that may be a factor.

23 million might not be good enough for the fans but 23 million is better than the 10 million we might get next season if we dont accept an offer this summer.

So what do you suggest we do then? We have signed Costa and Drogba. Lukaku doesnt want to fight for a place in the team, we know that from last season when there was actually hardly any challenge at all. So he has two years left on his contract. If he doesnt sign another one then this is the last summer we can actually make decent money on him.

It seems to me that the best idea is to sell him this summer because if we make him stay then next summer he will only be worth half the amount we could get now.

People compare him to Sturridge, to me its a totally different case. Sturridge tried! He played out of position, he went on loan (and never bad mouthed the manager or the club) and came back and tried to get in the team BUT the club wanted Torres to be the number one guy. Sturrisge realising he cant get past Torres in the team (even thought he should have) he had to move on.

Lukaku on the other hand doesnt want to try and fight for a place in the team (from what we have seen previously) and wants to go somewhere like Everton where he is the number one striker. Thats fine. If he doesnt have the right mental attitude to be at a world class team yet then its probably best for him to go down a level or two and grow up a bit there.

Well for starters I wouldn't have signed Drogba.

Next up I'd sell Torres, or loan him out, or payout his contract, anything to make sure he never wears a Chelsea shirt again.

Then I would have Costa and Lukaku as our main 2 strikers.

Thats a great idea BUT we have signed Drogba and it doesnt look like we can get rid of Torres so your plan doesnt really work out.

So we'd only have two striker options? Terrible idea

^Perfect scenario; Arsenal played all season with Giroud, Real Madrid Benzema & prior season they had Higuain + Benzema. We don't need 3/4 considering we only play 1. Worst case scenario play Fabregas as a False 9.

You have to be very lucky with injuries, Arsenal finished 4th aswell so bad example. Spain is nowhere near as physical as the EPL. Two strikers and an experienced back up is ideal for a team that plays with one striker. When we've eon the titles we've had more than two strikers. 04-05 we had Drogba, Kezman, Gudjohnsen, 05-06 we had Drogba, Crespo, Gudjohnsen, Carlton Cole and 09-10 Drogba, Anelka, Sturridge and Kalou.

3 strikers is perfect, although I would argue, it is better for the 3rd choice striker to be a versatile player, like gudjohnson, kalou, and anelka.

They can pick up minutes in other positions, to keep them sharp, rather than sitting the stands waiting for a league cup game, or an injury.

.

Or a Schurle...

Looks hopeless as a centre forward though. Don't know why people keep suggesting him.

Hopeless? Bit strong... especially as he only played one match, away to Manchester United, as a striker at we paid them far too much respect on that day and so Schurrle got little to no service.

The other game, away to PSG , he often wasn't the most advanced player in our side and he was in the team to press their midfielders/defenders to hurry them into making passing and it was working well as we was turning over possession in high areas in the pitch. It's no coincidence that we looked considerably worse and conceded two poor goals following his withdrawal that night.

He's shown in the match away to Fulham that he's more than capable of playing off the shoulder of the last man and he's range of finishing and movement, I think, makes him a decent option as an emergency striker.

Or a Schurle...

I think schurrle could do a job there, I agree with bobby though, he didn't look too good last season, when he played there, needs to improve with his back to goal.

Hopeless may have been a strong word but he's clearly not a striker at least in the Chelsea mould. We need a striker to hold the ball up, win it on the air etc and Schurrle isn't that.

Spot on BigBlue. BobbyWoodhogan when we had 3 or 4 forwards; Gudjohnsen, Crespo and then Kalou, Anelka & to an extent Sturridge could play wider or from a deeper role which refers back to what BigBlue was pointing out. The 4 we have now don't compliment each other in anyway & unless we are chasing a goal, I don't expect to see 2 at the same time on the pitch on the same time.

The only reason 4 works for United & City is because they play 2 at once & they compliment each other. I felt Jose was trying to fix this last summer when he was after Rooney, but now we have brought in 2 that don't compliment what we already have. If you are Lukaku this surely must play on your mind, Drogba & Costa are Jose's signing so will probably get preferential treatment & Torres is well Torres. So where does he fit in the matchday day 18? You ask most fans & they will probably have Costa starting and Drogba on the bench, Drogba & Lukaku on the bench at the same time is IMO a waste of bench space most of the time.

Different horses for different courses as they say.

I'm no saying Schurrle should become our main striking option but we really don't need an excessive number of striker in our squad, especially if we're playing a one striker system.

Real Madrid only have 2 and we've done it ourselves in the past as well.

Costa is the outright first choice, then you have Drogba but you could easily have Schurrle playing the league cup matches or the end group games of the Champions League should we qualify early to enable Costa a rest.

Schurrle's a smart player, I think he took some time to settle in to a new team and league initially but I personally rate him highly and think he could do a job for us.
