Mourinho last season almost all time moaned about we don't have strikers who can score goals and yet he sells the striker who is outperforming all of our strikers and is just 21 years old... and have the potential to be a world beater in couple of years.. This is madness.

 

And the best thing is he is not doing anything with Torres who just can't score for sh*t... it has been 3 and half seasons and he has just scored 20 goals in PL and Lukaku a 19 year old kid scored 17 in his first loan spell and when  16 in his 2nd loan spell. I know this lad has ego etc. but he also have skill.

 

I'll be so mad if we didn't buy any other striker. It could well be another same story like last season if Costa gets injured and Drog's out for ACOn in Jan.

Oh well, it was a nice dream whilst it lasted, Drogba Mk II. The boy could go on to be the best in the world, I hope he does, if anything to prove (again) to the club what a monumental failure our youth development policy has been, whats the point in a top quality academy if we dont utilise it when player come good? Action is needed, not in the quality of the player coming through but the resilience of the decisions to trust youth. Whats the betting on him outscoring any Chelsea foward again this year?

Whats that supposed to prove, I would love the bottom 3 players to have played for us more than any others. Also, theres plenty missing from there, like Saviola, Pato, Owen etc.

So our strikers for this season are:

Costa - Hopefully will be good, but unproven in the PL

Torres - Worst striker in the history of the club

Drogba - 36 years old and well well past his best

For me that's no better than:

Torres

Eto'o

Ba

Agree ... Poor Management IMO ... bringing DD back at 36 years old, way past his best for a single year was probably the 'straw that broke the camels back' for Lukaku ... he probably had had enough after that and personally I don't blame him ... very, very shortsightedness ... & now we are almost certainly stuck with Torrid for another year ... which promising youngster's going next? Courtois? It just wouldn't surprise me ...

I am more pissed at getting rid of sturridge tbh. I don't care so much about lukaku. He should have been the consummate professional like schurrle was last season.

Seen random sources saying PSG are willing to listen to offers for Cavani to free up a spot for Di Maria. We really need to bring in another quality striker because Costa-Drogba-Torres might not be strong enough to see us win the league.

Pretty disappointed we've let Lukaku slip through our hands, especially if that £23M price is right. Way, way too low for a young, proven PL goalscorer. Anyone saying he's not good enough to be our second choice striker just now has to be daft.

You want winners in your team, but I think Jose's realised he could be a problem in the dressing room if he was sat on the bench for too long and has pied him. Here's hoping that money is reinvested well.

That was in response to people saying it's Jose's fault for not keeping him, presumably at any cost.

it seems that Mourinho didn't like to look of him. Lukaku's been far too mouthy and immature. He showed very little in the World Cup and frankly the way teams defend against Chelsea is totally different to how they approach West Brom or Everton.  He may never have delivered for us although I would have liked to have seen him try. 

 

Last season Jose commented on City's 4 options at striker and compared that with our 3 mis-firing forwards.  We do play one up front so opportunities for a fourth striker are going to be very limited but I think we've all lost patience with Torres and chances are he'll only get worse if he feels the fans are no longer behind him.  Drogba is a legend but can he deliver 15-20 goals off the bench?

Don't think you can say he's not top 4 quality, he wasn't ever given a chance - a large part of that is definitely his own fault. Jose may not personally rate him/see him adapted well to the style he wants the team to play.

That's a heck of a lot of assumptions.

 

Also him going out on loan was him proving himself/fighting for a spot so I don't know what you mean there.

 

And i think he would have got a spot in the team. He would be our 2nd striker, he isn't good enough to be our first choice striker yet.

Still would have preferred to see us play hardball for once and demand 30m. How much would a team like Everton want from us if we went in for their top scorer last season?! 40? 45?

 

 

The problem is that his contract was running down and we know Everton don't have money. If there were other parties in for him he would go for good money like Mata or Luiz.

I don't understand why he wouldn't want to stay and train and get tips from his idol. He should atleast have given it a go.

Yes and there are also very average players missing from that list. Basically, that list proves nothing.

I accept your point but don't you find it strange that so few clubs were linked with him?
