Our New Stadium

Yeah I drink in west Brompton.

With the regeneration of the area though I wonder how long the Lillie and the Imperial will last; they are both very run down.

The So Bar was good for what is was. Not everyones cup of tea and was certainly a bit cringey at times but it had the best location of any pub in the Chelsea area and management that not only wanted the matchday crowd but also understood them. It was always rocking in there before and after a match and I had some good times in there. What it has become now is tragic and a waste of the pub with such a desirable location. Roman should buy it!

Regards pubs, i totally agree with the above posts.

The shed bar was quality, you could pay a £10 & watch the home games live, if you were skint or whatever, now its a poncey restaurant part owned by Arsenal fans.

Regards new builds, ive said for years i dont know why clubs never have a home & away pubs attached to the ground especially in the lower divisions, obviously the costs involved may be more than what they'd bring in, but say 2/3 coach loads of away fans spending money in a club run pub then surely they'd make money, also it'd make the plods job a lot easier as they'd know exactly where the fans were drinking.

I'm sure if they made them like actual pubs both home & away fans would love it, rather than being expected to stand on a concourse drinking out of plastic glasses for £4.50 for a pint of piss.

I drink in & around west brompton now, the last 10 years or so ive gradually been moved further away from the ground to drink because the decent pubs i used to use are now gone sadly, if pubs around WB also close down then it'll be Earls Court pubs for me, after that, who knows?

Is anybody worried the stadium expansion will cause us to have te problems Arsenal did with the Emirates in that we won't be able to spend big in the transfer market?

I hope not the idea of the rebuild is that we have MORE to spend !

Anyway, any decent pubs around Wembley, and is it worth travelling there on the Overground from the Junction if we spend s few seasons there ?

Normally drink at Marleybone before finals.

No is the answer and Wembley High Street is awful full of pound shops and bookies.

Imperial's long gone.  Made over a couple of season's back.

That's my fear Graham; I struggle to see how these pubs would survive for 3 years with no match day income when it must represent a big chunk of their annual income overall.

I thought the Imperial would struggle with the restrictions put in place last season anyway- match day profit must have halved.

I think its a reality they will struggle I know last year the lilly had a bouncer with a clicker to make sure the pub can't get over crowded. Think it was the same for other pubs. Often went in non matchday for a few drinks and the pubs be nearly empty. I can't see how they can survive unless there is and exhibition at Earl's Court the 02 seems to get all the concerts now

Earls court is being demolished.

Oh yeah for housing I believe. That means the pubs will definitely be f**ked. I actually like seeing earls Court coming out of west brompton. I'll miss it

I know, the Earls Court car park backed on to my old Estate ( the West Ken) which is also probably getting knocked down. Thank God for our new improved Stadium, fingers crossed. Keeping a bit of life and character in the area.

/\ I'm really, really hoping our stadium does have character. I want it to be a stadium like no other and as recognisable as,and listed alongside, the other wonderful landmarks. If it looks like other stadiums I'll be sorely disappointed.

External lighting, to pick up on the lighting theme, should fill the London sky whenever we're at home.

Totally agree with you there, the technology now is brilliant, take a look at the Sydney opera house and imagine that is the outside of our new stadium, half of our games are played when its dark, would look immense on CL nights.

This was also great and something similar could be considered, just imagine giant images of the team.
