Our New Stadium

Tottenham unveil their plans, what do we think?

61k capacity, including a 17k single-tier home end.

For me, looks better than the Emirates and Wembley.

They reckon they'll be playing there in 3 years, and it's on the same patch as their current ground ..

The 17K single tier stand is what I had hoped we would incorporate but by all accounts it just can't be done on our site.

I still wouldn't swap though, whilst it is hard to get the full idea, that spuds stadium initially looks very much like any other 'bowl' stadium which is exactly what I wanted to avoid. It will sh*t all over the emirates if it has the single tier though.

I dont like the outside design, inside it looks ok but thats mainly because of the one tiered stand, must admit i'd love us to have the same sort of end in the shed(obviously without away invaders in there)

They can have a nice new shiny ground & regenerate the local area, what they cant improve though is the sort of scum who live in & around the area, its a bit like polishing a dog turd, so f@ck em.

They will never fill it and will not lift anything of note trophy wise there.

I hear it will be good for the NFL though!

I don't have any doubt they'll fill it.

Hi guys.

So I remodelled the roof today and foxed some known mistakes and added some suggestions you guys gave me, including alternating the thickness of the buttress supports, and also changing the orientation of the butess so from above, they radiate around the stadium, as if rotated from a central pivot at the centre of the pitch. (That was actually tricky to achieve, as the buttresses still need to align with straight outer walls).

Some points to note, based on my model, I find it very hard to believe the roof will be made up of buttress supports that converge into a circular central tension ring above the centre of the pitch. The lengths of the roof supports would be enormous. And secondly, given the overal rectangular shape of the stadium, a central circular roof oculus opening is a poor decision as it would block huge amounts of light. Far less of the pitch would receive daylight.

I think that based on my test model it is far more efficient to have the support radiate towards the centre, but converge to form a rectangular roof opening. It also looks far more pleasing and dramatic as it reinforces and works in unison with the dynamic shapes of the asymmetrical design, rather than working against these forms.

Another point to note, is just how dynamic and sloped the outer walls will be. This is extremely exciting.

Honestly believe Spurs would fill a 60k on a Wednesday night FA cup 3rd round with the likes of Gillingham or Doncaster? I think even we would struggle with that to be fair

They would in the league. Like I said spurs have a big support. Also I believe they have a huge waiting list for season tickets.

Not being from London and having never been to North London means I can't really comment but I assume Spurs and Arsenal can draw on a larger fanbase due to the larger population. Is this true? I can't imagine we can boast the same numbers in our 'upper class' West London?

I'd agree with that a lot of our support comes from outside sw6. Saying that I saw a recent survey not sure where but apparently spurs fans travel the furthest for home games. Tottenham is a very poor part of London so its really a hard one to call

Interesting. Is there some truth to the belief that most of our London based support is spread out across the city rather than concentrated and that we can draw big support from the Home Counties places like Surrey etc?

Yeah historically we've always had a big home counties support I'm sure we have more clued up people on this forum then me on that subject

Any possible reasons for this? I was under the impression we've always been a working men's team up until recently with a more middle class influx

Not sure to be honest I'm sure we have some older posters that could answer it for you.

Cheers anyway mate I was just looking for the general thought amongs other fans etc

I think we've always had wide support in Surrey etc as it's so close to West London (just like Essex people support West Ham).  But from the working class who live there - not everyone who lives in Surrey is a golf playing, foccacia eating accountant!  Of course as house prices have gone up, you need to be more affluent to live there now though.  But in the past it was mainly working class from Surrey not middle class - middle class fans at any club were a rarity.

I'd generally agree with this but would it be reasonable to say we have a good following in Essex too? And has there ever been any club that drew support almost exclusively from the Middle/Upper class? What with it being the 'working mans' game and all

I wouldn't have said we had much support from Essex.   And no, no team has had support predominately from middle/upper class.  Just has never happened.
