I take it you're thinking keep Mata? Hmmm. Yeah hard pushed I would have to agree but i'd be gutted to see Luiz go. He's a rubbish defender but great in midfield and can score some cracking free kicks. I'll miss his antics too.

Fair enough. I was leaning more towards Mata staying anyway, but I was just saying I always liked David Luiz.

 

Could be a moot point as they could both be staying, but I just wanted to hear fans' opinions on this. Also if they could tell us which players they would like to see leave the club. 

Mata is the very last single player I would want this club to give up.

We aren't going to lose either, why do people keep listening to the sh*t-stirring press?

Luiz would be harder to replace simply because he's the only top quality and consistent CB we have at the moment. There's more a market for playmakers than there is for top defenders.

I'd send them both out to be honest. It'll free up the wage bill enough to bring in some younger talents and hopefully bring Sturridge back, and possibly get Piazon to fill Mata's shoes.

I think mata is well on the way to being a legitimate chelsea great. I don't think we've ever had a chelsea player win player of the season in each of his first two years. he's the absolute key component to how we play and his absence hurts us more than anyone else, cech included. you compare any player in the squad to him and they are on to a loser. hazard potentially could reach his level. maybe pass it. but that isn't a guarantee.

 

I appreciate luiz' exuberance, playing style and personality make him popular with the fans (and his teammates). certainly the number of press reports about how he is considered within the club should not be overlooked but for me ultimately he needs to be a top player for us to take advantage of those things. I don't think he is. in midfield he's an interesting player but not to my tastes (as he doesn't choose his passes / number of touches to take well), in defence I think he takes too many risks and repeats certain mistakes with a frequency that makes me think they are permanent flaws.

 

I find him totally replaceable, but he isn't without his uses. for what he is now I think at home to sides who come to defend and play one up front what he offers in terms of unpredictability and technical quality going forwards could help us.

 

in any case, I trust jose completely. he's earned it. he'll have his own ideas and I'll be happy to back whatever he chooses. if he keeps luiz hopefully he finds a way to give him the football brain to use his talents efficiently. if he sells mata I would be shocked but again he deserves the trust.

i consider luiz to be one of the better CBs out there and if he were to leave, i dont see who we could replace him with

 

on the other hand, i think KDB if given the nr 10 position can be as productive as mata in a year or 2. theres also oscar
