Higuain

Featured Replies

It would be ace if the forum could automatically filter out any posts that contained the words 'Tancredi' and 'Palmer'.

In the same stream of Tweets he's also saying Madrid will offer him in part exchange for Suarez and that Madrid value him at €40m and not €30m.

He appears to be regurgitating whatever Sky Italia are reporting, so no sources etc.

I would think higuain would refuse a move to Liverpool.

I was under the impression that Higuain's move was delayed because Ancelotti wanted to speak with him first before deciding if he wanted to keep him at Madrid.

As big blue said, I don't see the Liverpool swap deal happening because it's too much of a step down for him to take.

I reckon that rumour may be a Wenger 'plant' to get him off the hook - fn miser :-) I keep reading that he 'dithers' over signings; well you guys and gals have him to thank for Juan Mata for starters, but my issue is that he never seems to dither when it comes to signing his own deal however (currently a reputed £7.5M).

Sorry about the mini-rant :-) I reckon Higuain would be a decent signing for Chelsea, Mourinho knows him and the guy career averages something like a goal every other game.

True I think we all must admire Arsenal's incapabilities of completing transfers as if it wasn't so a certain little 5' 8'' magician wouldn't be wearing blue right now. But if this was to happen, which I at this moment highly doubt, I wonder how long Arsenal fans take it until they start jumping off a cliff. I mean Higuain was practically their player only a week or two ago. And now he seems nothing like. Same thing with Mata, But I still highly doubt that this deal will happen, but you never know.

I could get used to Arsenal wearing clubs down for us to swoop in and reap the benefits.

Mourinho knows him better than anyone, so I'd be delighted with the signing regardless.  I do share the same concern as I had in the Rooney thread, a new striker like Higuain would have to mean the departure of Torres and/or Ba.  If I'm not mistaken, we can't offload Ba until January because of transfer regulations.

Soulo, Wenger spends so much time consulting for Grampus Eight, PSG and Eurosport, he clearly thinks he should make the service more widely available. I rarely feel like taking a header off Beachy Head (8-2 and Bradford Citys excepting), but I'd often quite like to 'usher' AW over one.

What's the problem with offloading (should you want to do so)Ba? Is it because you signed him in the last January window?

I'd just like to say, it's nice to come onto a 'rival' board and have a decent chat without any rancour or anger - thanks.

I think that's the case with Ba, but I'm not certain.  We had the same issue when we first bought Lukaku.  We can't really justify having 4 strikers on the books all looking to start games when we only play one at a time.

Okay, perhaps it's got something to do with clubs getting 'middle men' to buy players before picking them up for a few quid on top? like that lad Spurs got via Belgium from Man Utd?

UEFA/Platini are a law unto themselves; talk about kneejerk :-(

Agreed. That worked well in the case of Mata.

Personally, this would be my ideal transfer for the striker position, to me. Not overly expensive, has worked with Jose before, has undoubted quality, and gives us a different kind of forward than we have anywhere in the squad.

Until I saw who was confirming this rumor, I still held out some hope.

I had no intent of anger in that post, I'm sorry if I was misunderstood. I have anger for no club in the world. That's one of the reasons I love the premier league because there are 3 top 4 clubs in one city and there's no hate rivalries like in Spain with Madrid and Barca or something stupid like that. Arsenal are a great club and I wish all the best and whatever may have seemed as rant to you was just an overstatement to deliver the message :)

I'm about to log off for the day (off to watch Surrey v Essex in the T20s tonight). Have a good evening all! And Soulo, I share your sentiments my friend, football fan first, gooner second - take it easy mate.

I would like this to happen. He's good enough, may not be 'world class' in the view of some fans but the transfer may be easier than Rooney or Suarez.

I'd love to have Suarez, but Higuain is good enough. He could easily be one of the most underrated players in recent times, playing in the shadows of the goalmachine Ronaldo and lately, Benzema. His consistency is unquestioned.

People label him as lazy, even JM said that sometime back, but we've had lazier players before. Worth the punt and won't be too expensive either. 25 million should do the trick.

I believe someone said (in the thread where those lazy comments were posted) Mourinho's comment was "“Higuaín is the least vain – if he could, he would come to work-out in pyjamas.†Which would make much more sense considering Higuain plays a limited game, but was always in the right place to score for Madrid, and accepting of his role. I dont think he's lazy at all, and I think that moniker could be more aptly (but not fairly) applied to his former strike partner.

Its a total fabrication, which is not a surprise because the press claimed Mourinho didnt like Mata four hours after he rejoined the club.

The club would be mad to even think about Suarez if this guy could be added to the squad.

Easiest gig in football. Get 4th,no pressure to win, keep money men happy, liee to fans continually, get paid an unbelievable amount.

Age wise he like Lewandowski fits the bill.

We were never interested in any other striker in my opinion

and I believe only Rooney will turn Jose's head.

If not I fully expect Lukaku, Torres, Ba and Shurrle/Moses in emergencies

to be challenging for the 'one target man up front' slot that is Jose's trademark.
