who do we need to buy to boost our title challenge? I can see Mata Leaving, if he does who do we buy with the money?

I think its pretty clear Mata is off, if he doesn't leave I'll be shocked.

We need a striker for sure, Falcao or Rooney would be ideal but I can't see either of those deals happening. Falcao's only been at Monaco 5 mins and United wouldn't sell Rooney to us.

Matic would be an amazing buy and I would love us to sign Shaw but loan him back to Southampton for the remainder of the season.

I think chelsea be mad to let him go. Still a magnificent player that most of best teams in the world would want in their side.

With Lampard out until the end of the month I would be surprised if we're not in the market for a midfielder. 

 

Rumours of West Ham being interested in Ba as well, he's barely featured in the last month, often failing to even make the bench... It looks like Jose doesn't rate him so I imagine it's just a matter of time until he is sold, whether it's now or the summer though remains to be seen.

 

I can't see us getting any big name players in though, I'm not expecting Torres/Luiz style transfer window at all.

If we did buy Shaw (unlikely in January) i wouldn't want us to loan him back,hes plenty good enough to start for us now.

Our one blatant and obvious need is for a top quality, consistent, goal scoring, self-confident forward. Falcao, Lewandowski, Rooney none of the usual recognised names are actually available but I am assuming that won't stop Jose from taking a good look around at other lesser well known options that might be.

If, as rumoured, United make a move to prise Luke Shaw from Southampton we should get the cheque book out pronto.

I dont think bringing a striker in during January ever works for us. Only Anelka i can think of did ok. Also i doubt we would be able to sign any of the players you have said this month.

Saw that, can only assume we have our striker lined up for the summer. Don't see us winning the league with what we have up top but Jose is clearly thinking long-term.

A striker and a CM would see us through until the end of the season.

If Ba were to leave I can't see us signing a replacement now, I think it would be laying the groundwork for next summer so that with Eto'o's contract expiring there is space in the squad for two more strikers, Lukaku and another.

 

Until then, should Ba leave then Torres and Eto'o are the obvious picks with Schurrle there in case a third option would be needed due to injuries or suspensions.

If we just signed Matic in January i would be very happy,LB and CF can be assessed in the summer.

We need reinforcing in key areas. Notably at striker and in midfield. Beyond Lampard and Ramires my faith in our depth is limited and well the less said about the strikers the better (although I do hope that Bamford continues to score for Derby)

 

But it isn't the right time to sign and noone would sell. Tough spot to get a player who will not only be useful this season but next season and the one after that also. Demba is a good example of a player we needed last January but one who is potentially on the way out now.
