Mikel is better than what you are giving him credit for. He can start and give a more defensive mind set to the team or (preferably) can come in as a sub to lock up a result.

When Mikel comes on as a sub or starts for Chelsea I say in my mind WHY GOD WHY!

I'm not Mikel's biggest fan but he gets a stupid amount of hate from Chelsea fans

 

The fact is, Mikel has been with us during our most successful period in the clubs history. He's not an exceptional player but he's not sh*t either. Decent option  to have to come on and see a game out. If he wants to stay and fight for his place then fair play to him

I can't take to him as a Chelsea player and never will because I don't think he's Chelsea standard - that's my opinion. Just because he doesn't want to go doesn't automatically prove he's desperate to fight for a first team place either. Maybe he's content with the odd sub appearance now and again. If that is the case that's not the type of character I want at my club, but the only person that knows the truth is Mikel himself.

Buying Matic back made it abundantly clear that he wouldn't be getting a lot of game time, and I've always been of the opinion that it's better to play 30 games for a sh*t team than rot on the bench and play 8 for a good one.

After this last season he knows fine f**king well he will be sat on his arse for the majority of the coming season. He can fight for his place all he wants, he's on a hiding to f**k all and he knows it.

I doubt it, can't see we manage to fit all of them in the starting 11. It will be real ironic if we spend all the money on the midfielders, and forget to buy a striker again.

People should be grateful for some of Mikels performances. He arguably had has his best game for Chelsea when we really really needed him. His contributions in Munich and in the Semi's were a big step towards the club winning the champions league.

disagree, and struggle to see how it makes me look daft by disregarding "the good games" he has had over the last 7 years. I cant think of many games in which mikel has been a standout, top class midfielder, dictating play and really taking control and making the difference.

The overwhelming majority of games he has played in the last 7 odd years have been distinctly average; to suggest it is "daft" to adopt this standpoint and instead drool over 3 decent games 2 years ago really does not make sense at all.

Mikel may never be a fan favourite, but he's basically been at Chelsea for nearly his whole career - we must respect him for his services as he has never moaned as far as I know and just gets on with it.

 

As for Pogba which I assumed this thread was about, I have never seen him play live as I can never be bothered to watch Juventus/France games, but in his youtube highlights he does look bloody awesome!

Agreed folks and I'll take most of the responsibility for contributing to the mikelisation of this thread. Respect for his time, yes, doesnt mean i think he's a good player and I really want him to leave - especially if it means that by selling him we could offset the ridiculous cost associated with buying pogba.

 

Really want PP at chelsea... the guy is absolute f**king class and was again for france yesterday.
