Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Well they do because if costa can't pass the medical the deal is off

Plus playing with somebody with a bad hamstring is much more of a disadvantage.

Sky Sports are saying Costa is to have horse placenta treatment for the hamstring injury in the hope he can feature on Saturday. He's already been rushed back and didnt last.

The doc uses fluid from horse placenta to try to speed up the repair of damaged cells. Its been used in the past to treat Van Persie and Lampard.

With the game 3 days away the risk now in this signing is unquestionably massive.

You say it's been used in the past to treat Lampard..even at 36 he rarely ever misses games through injury.

Why does this create such a big risk for Costa then?

Because of the timeframe.

It was Sunday he done his hamstring in again, to try and run on it less than a full week later is moronic.

The body needs to heal naturally, you can't fully recover from that in less than 7 days, especially since it's a reacurrance of one.

I doubt he will even make the bench and if he does they and he is risking his health big time.

Yep, because of the very short time frame.

I am not as doctor obviously, but if he plays and does aggravates it further, its just going to make the recovery time much longer.

I thought the whole point of the procedure was to bring a player back quickly? If Lampard didn't have to come back quickly for a game why did he have a horses placenta pumped into him?

Its is of course, but its a desperate measure without any guarantees. If its a muscle tear he is just delaying the inevitable / making it much worse.

Risky

Its a massage essentially with horse placenta fluid.

You can just imagine the response if Dave Sexton had called Chopper over and told him that he probably needed some baby horse bungy cord liquid rubbed on his leg so he could play the next game.

The thing is A.Madrid will run him into the ground because they know he is leaving so dont care if he causes longer term damage. It wont be their problem unless he doesnt pass a medical with us.

And if he doesnt, then nobody wants to buy him. Doubt they will risk being stuck with broken down player they cant use OR sell.

If he were to score the winner against Real, I imagine that would be a risk they are willing to take.

If he doesnt pass a medical with us then he rests up a while and then comes back for A.Madrid. Not really a problem for them unless they really need the money.

. . . or hes fuked up for good and atletico are left with a useless player on 'big' wages they cant offload

I dont think it quite as bad as you are saying. The worry for me is, if we sign him and then he goes to the world cup and plays a lot there, he will need quite a lot of rest after. He may be in and out of the squad for us next season.

This issue has been overplayed on these boards ever since Mata failed to claim a starting spot in Mourinhos Chelsea. Many didnt want to deal with the idea that Mata doesnt fit in Mourinhos plans, so they blamed it on Mata being physically drained (even though he hardly played at the confederations cup). Then it was Oscars severe dip in form . The culprit was, once again, international football.

The fact of the matter is, plenty of players are irreplaceable both at their club, and in their national team as well. Sure they may feel the effects of a big summer tournament, but if theyre fit, they should be able to start at least once a week, as soon as the season starts.

Would really rather he not play tonight, Torres' injury woes with us were because Liverpool rushed him back every. single. time. A small injury that would have taken 2 weeks to fully heal was only given a week by them because he was all they had.

Rushed back against Barcelona, will be rushed back tonight too (assuming he isn't completely ruled out... I haven't read the news) and who knows about the WC.

Torres was destroyed because he relied heavily on pace and acceleration in his game. Costa doesn't have any of that so this injury shouldn't affect him as much. That said, ofc I agree that he shouldn't be rushed.

Costa is very fast, especially for a player of his size

fair enough, he is. But isn't as reliant on those attributes as torres was, I mean.
