Diego Costa to Chelsea

Costa Injury ?

AGONY FOR ATLETICO

This could be a huge moment in the context of the title race, as prolific frontman Diego Costa has to be withdrawn for the visitors. He's nearly in tears as he leaves the pitch, and it looks as though he will miss next week's Champions League final judging by the reaction on the bench. A big boost for Barca, but a horrible moment for Costa as he aggravates the hamstring injury he has been hampered with in recent weeks.

Pretty much, the one thing I was worried about was him being rushed back its obvious he was. Might take the full summer to sort it.

I expect the Manager and senior players will put him straight if he starts anything too out of order.

If we are getting him, I will withold any judgement until he's had a few games. I am not really interested in what he did or didn't do in Spain. He should start at Chelsea with a clean slate, he could turn out to be brilliant so I'm not going to start anticipating trouble ahead before he has even kicked a ball...There are plenty outside the club who will do that for us...!

JT'll kick his @$$ from here to kingdom come and back again if he doesn't behave himself. He'll give him that message early on.

Massive gamble for us now, do we take it, or should we look elsewhere ?

I think it is best to continue the comprehensive approach to all available strikers and combinations that may fit into Jose’s plans.  At that moment, the fish wraps are reporting the candidates to be Costa, Lukaku, and Mandzukic.

Who know what this configuration will be in a few months…

Except that Atletico will make him play on crutches in the Champions League final, then Spain will do the same in the World Cup.

He will probably play in the CL final next week as well. He's a warrior just like JT ;)

A lot of people had ruled him out of the semi against us

Another string to his bow

Thats what I was thinking of, I did say it was inconsequential BS. There isnt a player who has really done anything worse than a little diving, playacting, ex misses shagging or youth team shooting but the media jump on it and tribal fans will use it against us to wind us up. Its not like we have Micheal Vick or Rio "I Forgot" Ferdinand.

Jose, Ash, JT all castigated by the media and all despised by tribal fans but it doesn't stop us from loving them

I'm actually happy that a lot of people are having 2nd thoughts about it because of his attitude, it shows that a lot of our members on here aren't a bunch of hypocrites and actually have some 'class'. That's no disrespect to anyone else who has a different opinion of course, everyone has good reasons.

Just typical when lots of other fans have that mercenary attitude like Liverpool with Suarez and United with Rooney.

Lol aye sure they will....

If he scores while cutting out the classless bullsh*t then fair enough, a scumbags a scumbag in my eyes.

Yet the same people will forget their moral stance when Costa scores winner against Liverpool, arse etc

Yeah wouldn't surprise me.

Costa going off with a hamstring problem today should not effect our interest in him . Only a few people close to him will know the extent of the problem (probably Mourinho included) but for some to suggest that he is now not appropriate for us is extremely unqualified and myopic thinking.

Costa' hamstring injury dates back to the first Quarter Final with Barcelona in the Champions League. He clearly has not been at his best since and it must be because it is at the back of his mind. This WILL NOT effect his transfer to Chelsea and although gutting for the player it is a blessing in disguise for us because we can access the injury and get our medics on the case to get him fresh and fit for the first game of the Premiership.

I do worry about the injury. Look at aguerro.

And you're right to worry, we're not in a position where we can afford another flop striker. Reading the info below, it looks as if Costa has a grade 2 or 3 injury, 1-3 months out, no guarantee of recovery to full fitness after that.

Hamstring Injury Explained

A Hamstring injury is common in sports. Hamstring injuries are sometimes known as a 'pulled Hamstring'. The term 'pulled muscle' comes from the description of how the injury takes place. Usually, the Hamstring muscle is forcibly stretched beyond its limits and the muscle tissue becomes torn. A tear in the Hamstring muscle is referred to as a Hamstring strain by medical professionals and depending on its severity it is classified as a first, second or third degree strain:

a first degree strain is damage to a few muscle fibres,

a second degree strain is damage to a more extensive number of muscle fibres,

a third degree strain is a complete rupture of the muscle itself.

With a grade one Hamstring strain the signs may not be present until after the activity is over. There may be a sensation of Hamstring cramp or Hamstring tightness and a slight feeling of pain when the muscles are stretched or contracted.

With a grade two Hamstring strain there is immediate pain which is more severe than the pain of a grade one injury. It is confirmed by pain on stretch and contraction of the muscle. A grade two Hamstring strain is usually sore to touch.

A grade three Hamstring strain is a very serious injury. There is an immediate burning or stabbing pain and the athlete is unable to walk without pain. The muscle is completely torn and there may be a large lump of muscle tissue above a depression where the tear is. After a few days with grade two and three injuries a large bruise will appear below the injury site caused by the bleeding within the tissues.

Resting may be the common sense approach, but it is one that is often ignored by competitive athletes. This is unwise, since it does not take much to turn a grade one Hamstring strain into a grade two, or a grade two Hamstring strain into a grade three. As a general rule, grade one Hamstring strains should be rested from sporting activity for about 3 weeks and grade two injuries for about 4 to 6 weeks. In the case of a complete rupture, the Hamstring muscle will have to be repaired surgically and the rehabilitation afterwards will take about 3 months.

Got a bad feeling about this transfer. Simeone seems to be doing to costa what benitez did to torres. Forcing him to play when he is nowhere near full fitness just because he has no other option.

Or because they have a deal lined up to sell him anyway so why would they care?
