Diego Costa to Chelsea

The only thing i can gather is that they aren't as harsh in Spain as us. If he tries that spitting in his hand and throwing it at a players face he will get a long ban. And if he tries headbutting like he did the other day, he will get another ban. The guy is a nut case.

Exactly this.

He will be pulled infront of a panel with the video evidence and hammered with fines and bans.

He needs a stern warning from the get go, IF he does what he did in Spain he won't last long at this club.

I've lost the ability to be optimistic about strikers...so now I just cross my fingers and hope we didn't waste 10's of millions of pounds

Torres broke my spirit.

Torres broke my spirit.

Sheva, Torres, Mutu, Kezman...someone put a curse on us.

Hopefully it's been broken.

Torres and Sheva were just poor business on our part, both (in my opinion) on the decline. Mutu wasn't our fault and Kezman wasn't exactly an expensive mistake. For all those we've also had Drogba, Anelka, Gudjohnsen and JFH.

In this market, I don't think £32m is OTT and I think we've managed to get a really good deal for somebody so good. He really is a Jose style player through and through unlike the aforementioned!

The Sheva one was a big risk, at 30 years old having never played in English football to spend £30 odd million was risky.

Torres was far too much money but at 26 you would think you were getting someone in their prime and before that he was a top quality striker...It was easy to see after the international tournament something was wrong with him...we panicked and took the risk.

Mutu made an arse of it with his off the park drug taking, before that he did look like a right good forward who would do well. Kezman had a glorious scoring record in Holland and was hoping for a RVN type impact but it didn't happen.

Anelka, Eidur and Jimmy were great buys and of course the Drog...

It's about time one came good now though, hopefully Costa can be added to the 'hit list' and avoid the flop one.

Still unsure about Costa not just his antics but his ability too so i cant get too excited. Every game im going to be worried about him getting sent off. Also Costa in the Spain team dont look right, i think he will struggle for Spain at the world cup.

At least he's passionate. I mean a bit of a lunatic and the spitting thing is out of order.

But give me that over Torres sulking and not giving a sh*t any day.

I mean he might be another unmitigated disaster but let's stay positive and even if he plays at 50% of what he did this year he'll still be better than what we've got.

Please no Lukaku in a trade deal to get costa. Obviously Torres should be apart of that deal...

Also, does anyone know if costa has any pace or speed over a longer distance? Can't tell if he's fast or the defenders in Spain are slow

If Lukaku is to leave then I'd rather that than him going to another PL club

I think I am a contrarian on Costa. He didn't look anything special against us and, although his stats in Spain are effin amazing, we will need a big-game presence as well as regular goals.

More than that, he looks like a cheat and a very poor sportsman and that is something that disgusts me in football. If he cuts the crap out of his game and just gets down to playing and scoring, I'm all for it, but if he shows his dark side, I will want to see the back of him, goals or no goals.

Which strikers were amazing against us this season?

Which strikers were amazing against us this season?

Strong defensive game was too strong.

Although Lavezzi gave us something to think about. Other than that, I can't recall any striker giving us much trouble.

Which strikers were amazing against us this season?

Having a go at strikers for not scoring against our defense is like calling a striker poor because they could not get past the footballing equivalent of the 300 Spartans.

Which strikers were amazing against us this season?

Not amazing, but:

Aguero scored an fantastic goal at the Bridge.

Benteke was a handful and scored a good goal back in August.

Remy was great and he scored a difficult late goal at Newcastle.

Sessegnon played well and scored in the 2-2 with West Brom.

Lavezzi was fantastic in the first game in Paris.

Wickham and Borini were half-decent for Sunderland when we lost.

We had an excellent defensive record this season, but we were not invincible. I am far from saying I would prefer most of those players at the Bridge (bar Lavezzi, Aguero (!) and maybe Remy), but we have been outplayed by good strikers this season. We will need any first-choice striker to be better in big games than what Costa did against us.

The guy is a twat on the football pitch, I have nothing against that at all. I would much rather have someone who loves to piss off the other team and score goals rather than someone who is to scared and thinks of the consequences of all his actions just like Torres.

As long as he isn't biting people or being racist I don't have any issue with him being here.

If some of these are your standards for "good performances" then Costa surely deserve some credit for creating a penalty AND slotting it home. Think people are blowing his performances against us way out of proportions, its not like he was dire

The thing Costa did so well for Madrid was wind Cahill up badly, he was f**king with him all game, standing on his feet, Achilles etc. Basically being an annoying twat. 2nd half Cahill looked lost.

But just because he didn't do much against us that doesn't mean a thing, top players tend to get marked out of big games.

spot on - he may be a twat but if he pulls on that blue shirt he'll be our twat

I still don't really understand why people keep saying this. What does it really mean and why is it a good thing ?

He'll be our twat...........yeah, but why would we want that ? It's like people are getting their excuses ready just in case.

He is very strong and has good pace quick on the ground

I wonder if we'd never bought Torres if all the people in this thread would be so pessimistic about another big name striker coming in.

I for one am well chuffed, the talk of him getting banned all the time here is bollocks.
