Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

The guy is an absolute w**ker.

Couldn't be anymore happier about it, I want someone who actually likes to wind up defenders and not little cowards like Torres.

90k euros apparently, seems a bit low for that kind of player

heard hes on around 25k now

so thats a huge wage increase

Diego Costa: He'll be decent on the counter and form set pieces, but I doubt he'll help you break teams down much, and that's what you need.

It just seems a bit inevitable he won't do that great tbh. £35 million is a lot for someone who is unproven over a long period of time and has a limited skill set. He has a physical edge in La Liga which he won't have in the premier league.

I think big clubs need to be more careful poaching players from the likes of Dortmund and Atletico. Players do well there because they're part of a unique system which gets the best out of them which they won't experience at other clubs. Kagawa is a great example, went from player of the year in the Bundesliga aged 22/23, to being a bench warmer at United aged 25.

P.s this is not my post it's written by my friend on other forum but I seriously agree with his points. His technical ability is very very limited.

A certain Didier Drogba could also look very limited/clumsy on the techincal side at times. Like Drogba though, Costa have a great physical presence and uses it for all its worth. He is bouncing defenders of him, is very fast(people underrate his speed), makes good runs and is a good finisher. Perfect for a Mourinho-team.

Drogba was also capable of moments of sheer inspiration. I've not seen that in Costa' game.

He is leading the line, and has scored 36 goals for a team that in my view may just pull of the greatest feat in football for decades if they win the double. Or "just" LL for that sake. Its hugely impressive if you ask me.

Did you see it in Drogba's game prior to him signing for us? If not then this comparison is pretty pointless.

Comparing Drogba at an average marseille side to Costa at a champions league finalist club is pointless.

Well I just worried nothing more. Atletico makes sh*t loads of chances for their strikers which we won't basically their team is built around him for scoring goals.

Yeah I do agree with that. I would love someone like Aguero here because he could fit right in, he is a very impressive footballer and would score many goals. However I think Costa is the only player we are in for. I think Balotelli will become a better player than Costa in the future but we all know how silly Mario can be, probably not worth it in the end. I once heard someone call Balotelli the black Ibrahimovic lmfao! that is quality.

Question is though, will he come here and actually do well?

Perfectly acceptable evaluation of costa. My only concern is why add another player of that style to our squad when we have that in Lukaku? If costa is a risk because he plays in a league considered soft defensively, Lukaku is proven in the epl. We should be looking elsewhere for a striker- more finesse IMHO

I think JM could do a good job at molding Mario Balotelli into that great player. I wish we would go for him and Benz if either of them had an interest in playing elsewhere. Not to beat a dead horse but I really don't think costa is a player that will end up playing in chelsea blue

Costa is the need at the moment. Atleast he is better than our current striker. Although we will need one more striker someone Suarez/Aguero type to break down defense.

probably Costa/Lukaku/one more striker and giving some minutes to Patrick Bamford will do good IMO.

I was fairly underwhelmed by his performances against us, I know it's unfair to judge him on such limited viewing, but for the money being spoken about I was expecting more.

I'm a bit half cut so apologies haha, but if Costa is with us next season, I see no problem for one reason.

Mourinho has saw this player for a good few seasons when he was at Madrid and if he rates him, how can I argue?

I understand peoples concerns cause lets face it, La Liga is easy for strikers (ronaldo/messi would never get those numbers in the prem), but this guy is more than just a flavour of the month, he seems like a warrior (cliche I know) but we really do need that upfront.

I'm just happy we'll be going into a season where Torres won't be our first choice striker.

I wonder if Costa will get the #10 shirt as he has at Atletico, or if Hazard or Oscar will try and get it.

One thing we won't be able to say about Costa is that he hasn't scored through a lack of effort, I can't wait to see some Drogba-esque inspiring performances.

I WANT HIM AT THIS CLUB !

You can't read too much into his stats considering he plays in a different league and was a wing-man to Radamel before this year and spent some time on loan .

An absolute fighter and would bleed for the blue shirt . Also has a dirty swagger about him on the pitch which I think is lacking a bit in our current strike force .

Also only 25......much younger than Drogba when he signed .

But he just can't bully the defenders here as he used to do at La Liga..

And please tell me how would he be better than our strikers? When we signed Demba BA he was scoring goals for fun t Newcastle then rest is history.
These small clubs have team built around certain players that's why they score goals easily but that isn't the case in Chelsea..
Deigo Costa scores sh*t loads of goals for Atletico because their team is built around him to score they create most of their chances for their strikers which we don't... and given too that his poor technical ability he just couldn't make goal for his own.

I seriously just don't think he's the right player for us. Edinson Cavani is the one I really want he's the pure complete striker he has everything and is proven from years.

We need a striker with great technical ability who can make goals of his own not the opposite. I'm really concerned because we don't want another flop here.
Please don't get me wrong it's just my opinion.
