Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

And yet he hasnt got a single red card all year, lets not act like la liga is some back alley league were anything goes. If hes constantly getting wound up easily by everyone, then his goal scoring record is even more impressive imo.

To see what Im talking about, watch the Sevilla game in the cup. Single handily got two players sent off

He may not get sent off but that is just like Suarez, he's get's in cheap digs that the ref won't see just like this dick head. From what i have seen of him this season he would easily reach 10 games where he is banned. We can't afford our main striker to be banned like that.

^We just made it difficult for ourselves, we could have got Falcao/Cavani for 50millions when they were 26/27 years old last year but we persisted with our 50million dollar kid who've failed us yet again. Now we're going to get  striker who costs 40millions and is a bully.

We should have bought Augero before he went to City. But we dithered too long.

I thought we turned him down because of astronomical wage demands.

So if people on here are looking for a bully type, couldn't that be apart of lukakus game? Why should we even be looking at costa when we have a big physical type player in the squad for next season? Doesn't make sense to me...cavani is the taller more athletic hard worker that I think people hope costa is.

Lukaku/Cavani would be a dream pair.

Otherwise I'd like to see the interest level of the following:

Benzema/Lukaku

(Heard a rumor recently that zindane is leaving real, which as some on here have commented that was the staying factor for Benz wanting to play under his coaching. Maybe if saurez goes to real we could go in for Benz then?!)

Balotelli/Lukaku

(Mario has his shananagins however they seem to take place off the pitch which result in "bad press" and personal fines. If he is available i would be in for him before costa)

Bony/Lukaku

(Double beast mode)

I never knew it was going to be this differcult for us to get a top striker after Drogba left.

I did. And have said it repeatedly on here. Strikers with Drogbas physical attributes, aura, skill, longevity and sheer self belief are extremely rare. It could be a decade or three before another that good, that important wears a Chelsea shirt and delivers the goods like he did.

Double beast mode?????

We should have bought Augero before he went to City. But we dithered too long.

Then we would have a great striker whos injured half the time and we would still need a top level striker. Absolutely brilliant player, but hes hurt too damn much

People need to stop worrying about him flopping due to our style of play. You do realize we play a very similar style of football as Atletico?

^Yeah we do play, but we don't make as many as chances or crosses to our strikers like Atletico.

Our crossing is usually woeful too.

Alan Hudson on CFC and Costa

While Hudson enjoyed a lot of success at Stoke he still has a soft spot in his heart for Chelsea, the club he helped to FA Cup glory in 1970 and a European Cup Winners' Cup triumph in 1971, and lives close to Stamford Bridge nowadays.

He believes Jimmy Greaves, Ruud Gullit, Peter Osgood and Gianfranco Zola, "as well as myself", were Chelsea's best-ever players and is concerned about how the team will improve on their likely third-place finish this season.

"I think the problem today is the inconsistency in their approach. I think they use too many formations and I don't understand why Chelsea only play with one striker up front," added Hudson.

"In our day we played 4-2-4, that reverted to a 4-4-2 with the wingers dropping back when we lost the ball. That system keeps it simple for the players and the fans.

"Jose Mourinho used that system when he first managed Chelsea, using Arjen Robben and Damien Duff out wide, and I don't know why he doesn't do that now.

"The big problem at Chelsea is they are always talking about the players they are going to buy. They should be buying players for the long term, not the short term."

Hudson also said that loaning Romelu Lukaku to West Bromwich Albion last season and Everton this term was a mistake.

The Belgium striker has scored 31 league goals for those two clubs combined while Chelsea have struggled up front.

"Look at Lukaku. Why loan him to Everton when he's a definite player for the long term?," said Hudson.

"It was a ridiculous loan. Stats don't lie. Loaning him to Everton was madness."

Although Chelsea are expected to buy a striker at the end of the campaign, Hudson says they are still struggling to replace Didier Drogba, who left two years ago, and believes Diego Costa of their Champions League conquerors Atletico Madrid is not necessarily the answer.

"Drogba is the sort of player who only comes along every once in a while. Drogba was like Peter Osgood, a magician," he explained.

"I didn't like the way Diego Costa played in the first leg against Chelsea a couple of weeks ago. John Terry had him in his pocket.

"If it was down to me I'd keep my money in my pocket on that front."

I did. And have said it repeatedly on here. Strikers with Drogbas physical attributes, aura, skill, longevity and sheer self belief are extremely rare. It could be a decade or three before another that good, that important wears a Chelsea shirt and delivers the goods like he did.

Top class strikers like drogba don't grow on trees...that's why forwards always go for ridiculous money...at 24m, drogba was an absolute steal

Agree with the above.

Only thin is we cant really afford not to go for a striker or two. We need Lukaku back and to play him for a period of time to really see what he has to offer.

I seriously don't like Costa and I hope we don't sign him. I'd only sign him if Cavani or Mandzukic or even Benzema aren't available.

He's horrible and a bully I mean his behaviour gonna get send off every other match if he what he does in Spain.
I'm worried He's can tarnish the image of Chelsea.

Nah, the thing is they can't stand in our way in selling Costa because they know if they don't sell to us their chance of having Thibaut Courtois on loan next season could be in danger. And Courtois is as valuable to them than Costa is.

But still I don't want him.
