Can you confirm thats legit?

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is hopeful the man tipped to be his first summer signing in Diego Costa comes through the World Cup unscathed.

The Atletico Madrid striker has reportedly completed a medical with the Blues who are understood to have activated Costa's £32m release clause after his stunning season at the Vicente Calderon.

Costa, who is expected to lead the line for Spain in their attempts to defend their World Cup crown this summer, meanwhile has done little to quell talk of an imminent move to Stamford Bridge.

Although the end of his domestic campaign was punctured by injury, Mourinho is hoping the Spain international comes through this summer's showpiece injury free to ensure he is fit to start the 2014/15 campaign in style.

"I hope (Costa) has a normal World Cup, no injuries, good holidays and I hope next season he can have a fantastic season," wrote in his Yahoo blog, AS report.

"I don't know where, but I hope he can have a fantastic season next season."

Costa himself has suggested a deal with the Premier League club is in place when recently asked by reporters if he will join Chelsea, telling them: "Well, it looks like it."

Costa's Stamford Bridge-based Spain teammates have also done little to dispel suggestions of the 25-year-old's arrival. When asked whether Costa could instantly adapt to life in the Premier League, full back Cesar Azpilicueta told AS: "Definitely! Physically, Diego is very strong and the Premier League is very demanding in that aspect. I'm sure he'll adapt – he can adapt to any situation."

Costa could also be joined in west London by his Atletico teammate Filipe Luis. The powerful full back is wanted by Chelsea, according to his agent, and his club have already made moves to secure his replacements after signing Guilherme Siqueira from Granada.

Maybe Chelsea are waiting till after the world cup to make sure the players are fit before buying them.

Just think if we signed Costa or Cesc before the world cup and then they broke their leg while playing for Spain. We would be stuck with a player who cant play for us for ages.

They could just as easily do the same during training or pre season, it's just the chance you take.

I highly doubt we are waiting till after the WC because of this.

If it is already done and everything is signed etc then why wait? Is the guy who writes the story on the Chelsea website on holiday and no one else can do it?

Dunno maybe you should send them an e-mail.

  1. @domfifield also..sorry to bug you but #cfc fans are getting slighty inpatient regarding costa and fabregas...are they formalitys now? Thanks

  2.

@KingsOfEuropeX2 Atletico seem to be dragging feet on Costa (in the hope a bigger offer comes in), but sure it'll happen. Suspect Fabregas

Dominic Fifield always covers Chelsea, doesn't necessarily have inside info but hey, it's a slow news day so feels worth sharing.

Why does this remind me of Porto and Hulk, although not as bad?

How could they be stalling it unless we've bid under the release clause (which seems unlikely).

Bullsh*t I tell you, bullsh*t!

I'm beginning to suspect the reason nothing is being officially announced is due to FFP accounting.

David Luiz is still a Chelsea player despite everything being done weeks ago. All parties say Rakitic to Barca is done but won't be confirmed until after the WC.

It's the only thing that makes sense.
