Bonucci would be a good signing IF we are planning on playing 3 CB's. That way we can play both Christensen AND Zouma instead of playing 1 experienced CB with 1 upcoming CB and halting the others progress

Well we have Ivanovic too who seems to be destined to play CB from now as he just doesn't have the pace to play RB anymore. Not to mention we still technically have JT, and hopefully he signs a one year extension. But as our starting 3 I would most definitely play the 3 mentioned

As much as I want Christensen back for next season, surely we wouldn't use Ake - he's looked really good at Watford this season and has become the handy player we all thought he might be.

 

Send them Feruz instead.

Ake already has experience in PL. We will lose good LB, CB and even DM.

It would be absolutely ridiculous to compound the mistake of loaning Christensen for two years with no break clause by letting Ake go when he is ready for the first-team.

 

Just compensate them with cash, take it out of Emenalo and Granovskaia's bonuses and accept it as a training fee of sorts.

I've not seen anything from Ake to suggest he could make it for a top side. He's a decent player and would have fitted in this season but I don't think he'll ever be good enough to be concerned if we do get rid of him.

Don't get me wrong I want to see youngsters given a chance here I'm just not sure he's the right youngster. That said I'll be delighted to be proven wrong by our next manager.

When I think how poor players like Oscar and Ramires have been at times and yet still constantly get selected, I could see Ake doing a better job.

Ake is homegrown and club trained, he may not be flashy but I think he could easily be a reliable member of the 1st team, and could even surpass azpiliucueta's level.

Not to mention he is very versatile and is a natural leader. I'd be gutted if we sold him tbh.

I would be extremely disappointed if he only reached Mikel like levels.

 

He's never been as flashy or spectacular as our other youth but he is by far the most developed, both technically and mentally. It's not a case of if he can make it here for me, he's already proven during his appearances for us that he is good enough so I'm not sure how anyone can say otherwise, it's whether he will be afforded the chances to go on and establish himself in the team. 

 

If we fail with Ake then serious questions need to be asked because you will rarely get a youth as developed as Ake coming through the academy with such little first team football experience.

Zouma should just about make it back for the start of next season so i think its wise Christensen stays in Germany for another year, especially as it looks like Ivanovic is much more comfortable suited to CB.

Fully agree, I suppose it comes down to what we need most in the squad. I would rather keep both, Ake is a very useful utility player who can play right across the back line and also midfield. But if it came down to mchoice I would

go for Christensen, I think he's exactly what we need in defence

I think Zouma will be fit for next season. Even if not, we have Ivanovic and Cahill there and will almost certainly buy a new CB should Terry leave. Not saying it's the right thing to do, just that we probably will.

I think its harsh to say Courtois has been underwhelming, he had a fantastic first season up until his injury

Nothing concrete yet, but both Christensen and Mochengladbach want that extra year.

And I feel thats a bit harsh, Courtois was amazing last year when the defence was good, but you can't put all the faults on Courtois when the defence this season has bee nothing short of a total shambles
