That's the thing with Liverpool, it's just the team spirit and amazing atmosphere that gets them through these games.

What got them through was the fact that the last bloke from Boro blasted his wide of the goal; Liverpool are on the slide....

That last penalty was pathetic. The guy just didn't look like he could be bothered anymore and just hit it. He was even smiling when he missed it. If i was a Middlesbrough fan now i would be really annoyed with him.

Probably was desperate for a piss and wanted it to end.

Haven't seen one criticism on my timeline, everyone is really proud of team.

So they should be, they just played the greatest team in the world in the stadium with the greatest fans in the world.

You're forgetting the integrity of the players, strength of character, and what it means to be part of a great club with a great history.

Stephen via text: Liverpool defending their reputation as penalty kings, and that was without Gerrard and Lambert. Teams won't want a shootout against them in the Champions League.

Steady on, Stephen. It was Middlesbrough you were playing here, not Bayern Munich!

Hang on. Gerrard, is that you?

Fair play to the Liverpool players, it's a monumental task playing with the weight of that jersey on their shoulders, so to come through on penalties against a side in a lower division, after having looked second best for most of the match, shows real strength, grit and determination, values which are synonymous with Liverpool Football Club.

Can i just point out how happy i am we didn't go in for Balotelli ?

He has got to be the most overrated player in the world, he's so lazy and plays like he doesn't give a damn. One of the worst attitudes i have ever seen from a footballer.

Jeeeeez...they are now claiming to take penalties in a special way...only they could do that...

Rodgers is assembling an expensive squad of over-rated players - it's a perfect transfer policy for a club that lives on its own hype

Didn't watch the Breda interview but please tell me he said the above.

You can't question the character and mentality - seems like I've heard that in every interview, also said composure like 4 times for 4 different players

But a voice of sanity:

We were atrocious.

We didn't create a single chance until the 2nd half of extra time. The goal we scored came from TWO clangers from their keeper. We then didn't test him again till the 117th minute.

We're creating absolutely nothing and yet again our choice to buy 2 target men in the Summer (one with the mobility of an oil tanker) looks ridiculous. The attacking midfielders have no-one making a run behind the defenders, and attack after attack breaks down.

Our defence is still sloppy. Boro had the better chances and should have won- Mig made a couple of good saves and they hit the bar. They were very unlucky not to win.

If that's Ok, no wonder everything at LFC is always amazing for you.
