The classic Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes debate. I'm going to use a cake analogy to convey the role of these three players.

Scholes is the cake itself. Without him the whole thing just doesn't work. He is essential for a well run team. Though nowhere near the same player, how Ranieri described Makelele is most fitting. He is the battery in every clock.

Lampard is the icing and cherry. He takes the cake to the next level. He adds that something extra that the cake alone can't produce to make it a more convincing product, but he is nothing without the cake itself.

Gerrard is the idiot who slips and drops the cake right before serving.

That made me laugh mac

Waaaaaah my name's Slawth and no one likes me, I have stupid opinions about football and cry like a baby when I get pulled up on it waaaaah!!!

Hes a bit special isn't he. I especially liked the bit where he snagged everyone of for not taking his opinion seriously and begged for a proper conversation, then when Valerie did that quoted her post with somethtlike "blah blah" because it was different to his.

Lamps could do everything Xavi could do? Wow talk about bias

Xavi has controlled a midfield all his career and set complete game tempo, Lampard was world class at a point but Xavi has been it almost his whole career.

How many midfield players have the consistent scoring record Frank has?

Goals are the bread and butter of football and Frank delivers.

Frank has never had the theatrical side to his game but during Jose's first spell at the club especially he was a tornado of a player, opposition teams had no answer to him.

Lampard and Xabi were both world class, but you can't compare them. might as well compare Lampard and Ronaldo. They are completely different players who do totally different things.,

Personally i think Lampard in his prime could do anything Xavi could do and more.

Nothing against you personally Scott but If I replaced the word Lampard with Gerrard, this would be the sort of deluded RAWK comments we would be posting on here and laughing at.

Completely different players, not sure how they can be compared. One was a controlling midfielder, the other us a goal scoring machine. Both were one of the best in football at what they do. Simple as that really.

What made Xavi world class and Lampard not ? Personally i think Lampard in his prime could do anything Xavi could do and more.

Not gonna be a very popular opinion on here, and whilst it's true that it's very difficult to reasonably compare two players who aren't very alike, but comments like the above are outright falsehoods IMO.

ForeverCarefree doesn't need me to defend him BUT you're wrong: he's a top poster.

As a rule, this forum does not resort to personal insults (i.e. banter aside) or to crudeness. Fair enough, I'm not even a CFC fan but this forum is very good and you making this a crude, personal, fight, is a bad thing.

It's a discussion about football...

:laugh2: Always know how to tactfully put posters like him in their place, Spud!

Ha ha. Well, I'm not often accused of being tactful...

I'm sure most of us don't want to go down the RAWK path of every other post saying 'eff off', etc! :-)

Accused of being tactful?

Off this site (i.e. just generally and at work) it is generally felt that I call a spade a spade, albeit without recourse to abuse. Hence the use of the word accused!

He was (relatively) cheap. You are right though - he's not impressive.

He will probably score a scruffy goal, and be hailed as SuperSigning. Expect the words "Missing piece of the puzzle".

Can't believe people actually wanted Baloelli, his movement is shockingly bad.

Hes moved? Are you sure, just stands still usually.

Balotelli is one diving bar steward

Knew that was coming

Was never a free kick

Ref has been horrible
