March 1, 201511 yr Fantastic goal and a very entertaining game so far. I can't remember the last time I was happy to see Liverrpol score. More of that, please (for the next 2 hours only). Edited March 1, 201511 yr by Virosh
March 1, 201511 yr Kompany is a fraud. Shocking player. Most over rated centre half in world football. Bar none.
March 1, 201511 yr Mignolet almost single handily gives to Man City who are now growing in confidence as a result of that post hit. Prat.
March 1, 201511 yr I do have some sympathy with referees, it is a very difficult job and getting more and more difficult by the season. Years ago players were fairer in that they went into tackles looking to win the ball whereas now a lot of forwards seem to look at the position in the field thinking that a free kick here might be of more benefit and play for it and with the added benefit that the opposing player may get booked or sent off. The game has become faster and although prem referees are full time now they are not able to keep up with the speed of play. Nowadays there is so much more scrutiny in performance and every decision can be studied in slow mo from 10 different angles. The ref has to make that decision from one angle, hoping his view is not blocked, in a split second. He has to give that decision on what he sees and not what he thinks happened. This decision may have come in the 89th minute after running 7 or 8 miles. I had played football for a number of years and one day down at the local park I was asked to ref a local game when no ref turned up. On the field when playing I could have been a bit mouthy with refs but this experience opened my eyes. Basically I was sh*te. So if I had decided to take up reffing and done the exams and training I would probably have improved but I know I would always have been sh*te. On a number of occasions when playing I was involved in matches with N Ire top ref who looked after european and World Cup matches and I must admit the man was different class to any other refs I'd had. He would be all over the game, in control and got almost every decision right. So you do get people, like in every walk of life, naturally gifted in what they do. Unfortunity they are probably few and far between and you can only work with what is available. I think most refs are honest and do give what they see but I believe that they do need some sort of technical assistance, what that is and for what circumstances I don't know. I don't want the game broke up too much but I think something needs to be done to clear up major points in goals, pens and sending offs. Most sports now seem to embrace technology whereas football seems to fight it in every occasion. Look how long it took them to accept goal line technology. What probably annoys me more than bad refereeing decisions the the FAs inability to act in a proper manner after the event when all the evidence is in front of them in either dealing with a missed event (elbows) or rescinding others. The most annoying excuse to me is the one they are forever using in that the ref saw the incident and dealt with it, when it is obvious that he didn't see it properly, knor deal with it in the correct manner.
