Nathaniel Clyne has had a great start to the season.

Nathan Dyer has again started well for Swansea and has inexplicably been overlooked for England again.

Sidgurson has been great for Swansea too.

Fabian Delph has had a good start for Villa.

Also worth pointing out that so has bertrand

The best player has been Costa. All the others talked about have had their moments but Costa has been by far our best player so far this season.

Costa 100%

He's playing like he's been with us for years. He's been far more impressive than when Drogba first joined at the same age too which is great.

It's good we have so many candidates though.

Hazard

Cesc

Ivan

Costa

Fabregas

Hazard

Oscar

Ivanovic

Matic

To be honest I'm doing the whole team a disservice picking out those six as we've generally been solid minus some defensive frailties in earlier games. Schurrle needs to improve the defensive side of his game though.

Whole team, every player showing a good form and good football. Of course there are some more, but current team is fantastic.

1. Costa - 50 percents of the world thought he's a flop, did not believe in him, but he's a machine, exactly what we need.

2. Matic - since he re-joined Chelsea he looks great. One of our important players.

3. Fabregas - great player, making goals and covering Lampard's position in a good way.

4. Hazard - superstar, always important for us.

5. Ivanovic/Cahill/Terry/Azpi - in my opinion they're same. Our important wall, 3 of them are important at corners and free-kicks as well. Showing a great form untill now, hope to see the same form in future as well.

So far Costa for me 2nd Fabregas and Matic and of course Our Hazard. But to be honest the whole team are doing great I'm so happy so far can't ask for more I hope we keep the spirt always high and injury free of course ðŸ™ðŸ’™

Outside of all of our players, the Southampton squad has looked pretty impressive. I like the looks of Clyne, Bertrand, Tadic, Pelle and Schneiderlin has ben superb after all the drama in the summer. If Jay Rodrgiuez comes back after his injury to the leve where he was at last season, Southampton will be a force to be reckoned with. Koeman should definitely be named Manager of the Month for September if that award hasn't been given out yet.

If Bertrand is to leave Chelsea, I would much rather him be at Southampton than at Liverpool or Tottenham.

Quite surprised so many have Matic up there. While he was excellent against Arsenal and Sporting, he was very quiet before then, judging by the standard he set in the second half of last season.

Seconding this 100%.

I have a lot of respect for Southampton, they're tough buggers and always manage to surprise each season. Think it's hysterical that Liverpool bought all their "best" players but are a good number of points behind them. This new batch of players have hit the ground running big time and their new boss, Koeman, is quite something.

The best 11 (7 from Chelsea) so far by the EA Sports Player Performance Index:

GK - Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea)

Season Index: 86

The Belgium No 1 has made the transition from La Liga - where he had spent the last three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid - to the Premier League look effortless. Courtois has made 14 important saves in his seven league appearances to date, helping Chelsea establish a handy early lead at the summit.

DEF - Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea)

Season Index: 116

Regular watchers of Chelsea will appreciate that Azpilicueta deserves as many plaudits as Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard this season. An absolute bedrock at the back for the league leaders, the Spaniard has won 24 tackles, made 31 clearances and 14 interceptions in his seven appearances so far.

DEF - Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea)

Season Index: 138

The highest-rated defender on the EA Sports Index, ever-present Ivanovic has been pretty much unbeatable at the back as Chelsea soared to the top. He has shown a strong all-round game, with not only 28 clearances and 18 tackles won, but also 16 crosses and 11 dribbles forward. Ivanovic has also scored twice, against Burnley on the opening weekend and in the 6-3 win over Everton.

DEF - Gary Cahill (Chelsea)

Season Index: 112

Another key ingredient in Chelsea's early season success has been Cahill, who has continued his good form from last season. The England centre half, also an ever-present in the side, has cleared the ball 42 times and made eight blocks.

MID - Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

Season Index: 188

As he showed on Sunday with that outstanding display against Arsenal, Hazard is a man for the big occasion. The Belgian has been exceptional so far this season and is the highest-rated midfielder in the EA Sports PPI. He has attempted 325 passes in his 595 minutes on the pitch so far, and 296 of these were accurate. Hazard has also contributed two assists and scored twice - against Leicester in the second match of the campaign and that penalty in the London derby last weekend.

MID - Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

Season Index: 176

It has been a delight to see Fabregas back in the Premier League with his metronomic passing, but his creativity was the main reason Jose Mourinho moved so swiftly to secure his signature ahead of old club Arsenal in the summer. The Spanish maestro has contributed seven assists so far, more than anyone at Chelsea in the whole of last season, and has accurately completed 511 of 569 attempted.

FWD - Diego Costa (Chelsea)

Season Index: 287

It won't surprise you to learn that Costa stands head and shoulders above everyone else in the PPI. Indeed he is the only one to have surpassed the 200-point mark. Adapting to life in the Premier League with consummate ease and feeling no pressure from his £32m price tag, the Spaniard has nine goals to his credit already, propelling Chelsea to the top.

Other players are Bertrand, Sigurdsson, Sterling and Aguero.

The thing is....no one has actually been "poor" this season.

Schurrle you would say has probably not lived up to the second half of last season and his world cup but he has still scored some important goals.

Eden Hazard is simply a phenomenal football player and I think Costa/Fabregas have easily exceeded expectations which were already very high to begin with.

Long way to go but signs looking good.

I may be alone in feeling that Fab, rather than Costa, has actually been our most important player this year. Yes Costa is brilliant, and we have desperately needed a top quality striker for many years, but i think fabregas has given us such control of the midfield, and controlled almost all of our matches through his tempo and accurate passing

Hazard and Ivanovic the pick of the bunch so far for me. Costa does his job brilliantly but has only been the best player on the pitch twice this season in my opinion; at Goodison and against Swansea. He is able to score goals despite being relatively quiet otherwise (Arsenal, Villa, Leicester, Burnley), so while I love him, I wouldn't say he's been our best performer this season.
