Am I the only one that thinks that Branislav Ivanovic should be captain next season if Terry retires? Share your thoughts!

Too old, no point making him captain for like 2 years. Will probably be Cahill.

I agree with Jonty, he's too old to get the captaincy, i also don't think JT will be retiring next season.

I don't think there's an obvious choice. Ivanovic would be ideal for me but is arguably too old. Cahill is the right age and seems like a leader, and has learned off the best but has suffered a slight dip in form and Zouma could take his place in the future (although Cahill could then take JT's in a season or two). 

 

Azpilicueta, Matic and Fabregas (only because it's been reported) are other candidates. I wouldn't like to see Fabregas captain but a newspaper reported that he could be the next one a while back.

Terry is going to be the captain for another two years at least.

Also, Fabregas will be next captain if there is one to be made in the next couple of years I think.

Cahill is a dead-cert if you ask me.

I think he would have been made vice-captain if he was being groomed for the captaincy.

Fabregas should be captain, Ivanovic would be something of a stop gap captain as I don't think he has too many years left in him. Fabregas leads by example in terms of having a winner's mentality and he seems quite vocal on the pitch imo.

pointless argument. JT has been flawless this season, he was flawless last season, he was flawless 5 seasons ago and he was flawless 10 seasons ago

 

When he shows signs that he is 'past it' or that he is 'getting past it' then we should debate who the new captain should be until then lets enjoy it.

 

We can debate who from the rest of the team are leaders but there is no point picking a new captain because old John isn't slowing down

Yes you are. While he has looked well at times this season, I think he has been one of our more inconsistent performers. He is good for a few goals every year, and important ones at that, and he is a solid defender but he might provide the worst crosses ever and that's pretty important in the style of football we play. I really don't see him holding his place in the starting XI by the end of the season so it's not really likely that he would be captain.

Which apart from Cahill makes a lot of sense on the footballing side of things. Cesc is my stand out player so far this season he is a joy to watch and making It look so easy.

Matic would be my preference. Cahill is no leader.

It feels like just five minutes since people were raving about David Luiz being the "new" captain.

 

There's a lot of premature ejaculation on this topic. JT is still alive and kicking.

JT is going nowhere for the next year at least....probably more.

Pointless speculating who will get the armband then as a lot can happen in two years.

Let's worry about who the next captain will be when we have to
