Raheem Sterling to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Wonder if Arsenal would have a place for him.

I suppose they could move OX more central and Walcott used as a striker with Sanchez on one of the wings.

I think he'd have a better chance getting games here due to how poor Willian and Cuadrado are in terms of scoring/assisting.

Workrate would be an issue though, Willian seems a stick on because his effort levels are huge.

I could imagine they could line up something like

                        Szczesny

Debuchy - Mertesacker - Koscielny - Gibbs

       Oxlade-Chamberlain - Coquelin

             Sanchez - Ozil - Sterling

                           Giroud

Not the worst line up Wenger's ever had....

Can't say I've ever seen an agent come out with quite that type of rhetoric but if he's trying to engineer a move for his client then he's going the right way about it.

In any field, you want an agent who will do whatever it takes to get you where you want and he seems to be doing that. Ward will be the most hated man on Merseyside though. The danger is that you have people like him whispering in their players' ears that they can do better, that they need to leave and that's the last thing clubs want.

In Sterling's case though, it may well be true. Liverpool had a player who could elevate them to perennial title challenger status and they sold him. What message does that send out? You get lucky with a player who is genuinely world class and when you sell him your replacements are Southampton players. Any player with Sterling's potential would be looking to move on wouldn't they?

Unfair to call Carragher a knob though. There are dozens of ex-Liverpool pundits that you could call that but Carragher is a decent bloke.

The Pace would be insane...well bar Giroud up top.

----------------Tibo-----------

Ivan------Cahill--------Terry-----Dave

----------Cesc------Matic------

Sterling-------Oscar---------Hazard

--------------Costa--------

The only thing I see wrong with that is Ivan would need to stay back because I don't think Sterling would track back as much as Willian. Ivans used to roaming and not sure it would be as easy for him to suddenly stop.

He shouldn't be calling him a knob full stop, this guy represents Sterling and other footballers like Berahino I believe. He represents them, everything he says comes from the Sterling camp and paints a very bad picture. This is all engineered and Sterling probably gave the go ahead for this to happen.

If Sterling wants to move fair enough, he wants to challenge for trophies which any player does. Just do it in a manner which doesn't show you as a spoiled brat. Or you could just bite a player and get a big move to Barcelona.

I doubt very much that Sterling went out and told his agent to call Carragher a knob, but he will have said this is where I want my career to go. Neither side is handling this very well.

His agent is the whole reason he has this public perception. He has been horribly advised throughout all of this. Combined with having the audacity to want to leave liverpool he was never gonna get an easy time

Yeah I meant as in Sterling gave the go ahead to leak everything but whatever the agent says represents Sterling. I think this is a case of Liverpool putting pressure on Sterling and him getting offended in some way and this is how he has reacted. It just doesn't help when you have an agent who looks like a complete utter plonker.

He's now denied saying it..... says hes gonna take legal action against the Standard.

I guess he thought he was speaking off the record haha.

Either way I am sure he is happy enough as the objective will probably be more likely to happen now. Bridges have been burnt and hes bound to be sold.

I think interested clubs can take advantage here.. Liverpool will be keen to sell an unhappy player and clubs can offer low bids to test the water, not really needing him.

Funnily enough this comes the morning after Henry had this advice for Sterling on Sky Sports

You can't go out there and talk about your contract in the press. You have to respect your fans, respect the club that you play for.

"If you want to leave Liverpool or not, when you make the decision about leaving or staying, then do it. Don't discuss yourself in the paper.

"I went through the same thing. When I was young I had a problem with Real Madrid and Monaco because some guys that were around me were putting stuff in my head.

"I lost my football, mentally I wasn't there anymore, I wasn't concentrating on anything, and therefore it looked like I was going to have a good career and people were questioning me when I hadn't even started my career.

"So it's the same thing with Raheem Sterling. To an extent you can blame the agent, adviser, whatever you want to call them now but you need to be a man about it also, you need to be able to say, 'Enough, you're destroying my life, you're destroying my career.'"

People have long said Sterling was a problem child but these comments by his agent are just odd, and surely noone is stupid enough to say that. He has just lost Berahino money because Liverpool won't deal with him and probably other clients too. So it is just weird.

For mine Sterling is neither here nor there. He won't make a club title or CL contenders by himself. I'm actually not sure he would improve us at all. I just think he thinks he is a bigger chip than he is.

But hitting back today, Ward told the Standard he “didn’t care” about the club or its image, dismissed criticism by former players as “irrelevant” and branded Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher “a knob”.

He said: “I don’t care about the PR of the club and the club situation. I don’t care.

“He is definitely not signing. He’s not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing.

“My job is to make sure I do the best with them (my clients). If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter.”

But in an extraordinary attack on one of the club’s most respected former players, Ward said: “Carragher is a knob. Everybody knows it. Any of the criticism from current pundits or ex-Liverpool players - none of them things matter to me. It is not relevant.”

He said their criticism would be the same if Sterling stayed and then left in two years’ time when his contract expires, the only difference being the club would receive less money in transfer fees.

And he also appeared to blame the club for making news about the discussions public, saying: “How did this all occur? There is no smoke without fire.”

Ward said Sterling would not move to Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich, and suggested Chelsea or Manchester City were the most likely destinations.

He added: “I am not worried. Worried is making a decision not knowing what is going to happen. Every premier league club will make a bid for him.”

That last paragraph suggests a deal might already be in process with a club.

Perhaps a club that likes to get its transfer deals done early - who knows lol.

Anyway he could be a fit for our club and a good jigsaw piece for certain situations.

Alongside all the 'cashley' level comments and the booing and the minimal acknowledgement of achievements

with you on 90% of this, however i doubt that he is "the" player who could elevate them. He hasnt had a huge impact this season, and he isnt that ONE player you need who can make a difference.

That said, I see your point.

I think surrounded by class, sterling is (or could be) class.

I just cannot see us being held to ransom for this boy. he's not worth the sums being quoted.

RAWK meltdown though, those dipper f**ks think that he's worth  £50m.

Christ.

Couldn't agree more.

You must be insane to think he's worth anywhere near 50m.. Just another overrated english player that most likely won't live up to the hype in the coming years

i think he is actually. i see it as the most likely outcome

A - we are never held to ransom on wages. See mourinho quotes re: dressing room "explosions" should X, Y, or Z player come in on excessive wages. I am happy to provide links to quotes.

B - Henry will want circa £40m for him. FSG do not f**k around on transfers. that much is true.

C - I do not think that this guy either merits the praise, nor do I think he is the type of player who would make a difference to a mourinho side. Lightweight, "questionable" attitude, hit and miss, and a poisonous influence on the dressing room, as exemplified by recent events. Look at the typical mourinho player; any billy big balls tend to be farmed out. His preferred players are the ones who get the nut down and crack on. Mourinho has a history of clashing with egos.

D - f**k sterling.

Edit; before anyone quotes his time working with Ronaldo, see how that ended up. The two do not get along, not a f**king jot. Cannot think of any other time mourinho has put up with prima dona bitches who spend more time on the front page of the daily mail than they do on the back page as MOTM. KDB a prime example - rockstar attitude, f**k off.

Wouldnt be surprised if they put him up for transfer soon and evaluate offers due to the comments. I honestly don't think he'd be that big of a loss for them, they have bigger problems to solve. They could bring in a tadic and he'd be equally as effective. They need a prolific fit striker.

Rogers will probably put his faith in Jordan Ibe to replace him or look to get some value out of Markovic now he's had a year to bed in.

It's upfront where you'd expect them to invest any money they'd make from the sale.

Question for Liverpool would be, can they sell Sterling and become a better team by investing the money elsewhere in the team or is he more of a keep at all costs asset?
